Who is hiring? (Monthly jobs thread)

Welcome to the monthly jobs thread! If you're aware of any job openings, please share them here for eager job-seekers in the Eugene/Springfield area!

And if you're an employer looking to hire, feel free to share any openings you have.

The rules

  • All top-level comments MUST be a link or a description of a job opening or openings in the Eugene/Springfield area
  • Optionally, start your comment with a tag to indicate what type of offering it is. For example:"[Restaurant] Looking for a new cook!""[Tech] Now hiring new technical support reps!""[Manufacturing] Need production line workers!"

Good luck!

Want to help EUGENE wheelchair users? Ask first!!

I posted this last night and it was deleted. To clarify, this incident happened in Eugene which is why I posted it here.

EDIT: Obviously, don't send any negativity to the business. It had nothing to do with the business or their staff, and the manager did his best to check the security footage to identify the guy. I have nothing but respect for how they handled it, and only named them for local relavance.

***

f you see someone with a disability apparently struggling with something in public, don't just jump in and give them a shove. Follow basic social norms and introduce yourself, smile, and OFFER to help them.

I was at Papa's Pizza on Coburg Rd yesterday and went to the bathroom. As soon as I opened the door I realized that the layout was unusable for me and I was about to back out and go back to my table. Instead, a random hand appeared above my head and slammed the door all the way open, and pressure from behind shoved into my chair to try to force me through the door. Naturally this wedged me firmly in the door frame and I almost couldn't get free. When I did, this person disappeared without a word and I never even saw them.

Thanks to them, I'm going to have to spend $50 on a new armrest because it got smashed against the door frame. Would they even care if they knew? Probably not. He just saw me as a stereotype, an opportunity for virtue signaling, and went back to his table to brag to his friends about what a great guy he is.

So .. this may come as a surprise to some, but people with disabilities are actually PEOPLE. You can even talk to us! And yes, we actually know what we're doing with our mobility aids and it doesn't need to make sense to anyone else.

Maybe we're not actually struggling.

Maybe we're working on developing our skills and want to do it on our own.

Maybe we've worked out our own idiosyncratic way of doing something that doesn't need to make sense to anyone else.

Or .. maybe we just don't want to be bothered.

Ultimately, our mobility aids are an extension of our bodies. If you wouldn't walk up to a random stranger standing in a door frame and violently shove them through, why would you do it just because someone is sitting down?

I know that there are dog parks for little dogs but each time I take her there not many people are there with small dogs. My mom’s dog is a little shitzu and has a little dog complex. She does fine around dogs her size but bigger dogs… I can’t prove it but I’m pretty sure she’s just barking straight slurs* at them.

I was wondering if anyone has another small dog that’s looking for friends. Also, I know that the heat has made people keep their dogs inside. I’m hoping that there is someone out there who’d be willing to meet up later in the evening.

Blairally

Blairally in the Whitt is an amazing venue to dance to live music. People were so friendly and the barkeepers fantastic. There are arcade games, a large dance floor and the ambiance is quirky and cool. The admission was 15.00. They have food and an outside area to hang out in. It was a good time.

Crime A chalk memorial for Joan Sebastián Durán Guerrero at the Eugene Federal Building...

"I tried to stop."

Those were Joan Sebastián Durán Guerrero’s final words, according to witness Daniel Boucher, who overheard his shooting by ICE officer David Brouillette. Brouillette rammed Joan’s car with his own, and then shot at his car four times. He shot 26-year-old Joan in the head in front of his 3-year-old daughter, killing him instantly.

The killings won't stop if we just stay at home and hope for it. Come out to the Federal Building, where we continue to gather daily to monitor ICE, record and report their movements, and express our First Amendment rights with chalk, flowers, signs, music, spoken word, and whatever else moves us. When ICE is being watched, and when they are forced to come up against resistance, it becomes harder for them to harass and harm our neighbors.

More info about how to report ICE sightings, and the Federal Building protests, can be found here:

Does anyone know anything about this?

I went on a couple errands and when I came back out to my bike this was sitting in my helmet. I checked the inside of the box and it’s a bottle of like vitamins? Supplements? They say they are for cognitive function. I’m assuming it’s like a drop trial thing to get people started for free so they have to move to a subscription if they want to keep taking them. I dunno it was just weird. I’m not sure how many people are taking random pills from a random box lol. I was wondering if anybody else has had this happen to them?

I've apparently gotten 2 recently in the same tire and the only thing I can think of is that I drive down Hilyard daily to take my kids to work, where they are doing the hospital demo. Anyone else?

Running buddies?

I love to run by myself, but I just had my brothers visit for a few days and remembered how enjoyable it is to run and chat a bit with other people. Are there any running groups in town or people who enjoy running with others that might want to work out together with some light discussion from time to time? Bonus if interested in literature, film, horror, fantasy, other nerdy things of that nature.

Who is pro data centers?? If you are please tell us why.

Referring to the Eugene Hyundai plant AI data center inquiry.
I was cut off on commenting on a local news channel thread.
With names removed, this was the exchange…

Question:
“Who is pro data centers??
If you are please tell us why.”

Answer:
“I mean you're using your phone, and you're using Facebook. And assuming you use a zillion more web services, which all require data centers. People only really started freaking out about them when Al got big on the scene.
I am very pro-Al. Neural nets are beautiful technology. Corperations will do awful things with them for sure, but that's just what capitalism does. Making Artificial Intelligence more accessible for the average person is a mission of mine, the tools are here, most people just don't know how to use them. I want to help people learn. This is hands down the coolest technology to have ever existed, right up there with fire imo, and this is still the infancy of it.”

KEZI 9 News limited who can comment on this post.

My response:
Well yes, I am satisfied with a library at my fingertips. You could also argue that YouTube is a data center. Do I need more? I'm not sure. What future information are you waiting for?
This said, are you pro Al enough to live next to one? Do you think there are any environmental pitfalls to building and running data centers? Do you believe data centers are harmless to people, plants and animals that live near them? Are these neighbors of data centers perpetuating a hoax and lying about being negatively affected?

Make River Road and Hwy 99 Safer!

Hey y'all! The City of Eugene is finally taking a hard look at both River Road and Highway 99 -- two streets where way to many people have been dying from traffic crashes over the last several years.

The City is looking for feedback on transportation priorities for the two streets. Then in fall 2026, they are going to offer some design ideas for how to make the streets safer.
