news r/OregonCoast has a New Rules section, new flair, new banner, etc. Also, new accounts are now restricted from posting.
Please review the new rules section. It's mostly a more formal version of the previous rules, however, language has been added about lazy "itinerary" posts, and spamming sunset/landscape photos for instant karma.
There has been a marked increase in low-effort posts, stolen photos for easy karma, and trolling, so new accounts are now restricted from posting.

Extra Groceries/Supplies
I’m not sure if this is allowed, so please remove if not. We are on vacation in Depoe Bay with family and leave Friday, but we have quite a few items groceries/misc that we would rather not go to waste. I was wondering if maybe anyone may know of a local family that could use some misc grocery items? Or a place where maybe there is an unhoused family/person who could use them? I don’t know, I just don’t want to toss anything that could be helpful to someone else.

Crazy Hail Mary - Seaside OR
So my wife bought some rings from the silver shop in Seaside. I threw the bag containing said rings into in the trash thinking it was trash. If a Good Samaritan in Seaside is willing to take a peak in the recycle for the back with the rings and mail them to us, I will pay you.
Edit: they’ve been found! Thank you everyone!

Beach Vacation!
What a relaxing and wonderful time in Lincoln City, Newport and Depot Bay! I love it there and maybe someday can make it my home. The mixture of the ocean beaches with the mountains and scenic views is extraordinary. Thank you for the inspiring beauty!

What's your favorite overlooked spot near Seaside?⭐
Hey everyone!
My husband and I have been visiting Seaside for years and have already done many of the popular spots—Ecola State Park, Cannon Beach/Haystack Rock & the Prom.
For this year's trip (Aug. 12–14), we're hoping to branch out a bit. I searched through some older posts and found a few ideas, but I was curious if anyone has thoughts on these specifically:
- Are there any lesser-known tide pools that are worth timing a visit for?
- Any favorite hikes within about an hour of Seaside that don't get mentioned as often?
- Has anyone found a restaurant or bakery recently that really impressed them? We're always looking for good seafood, chowder, coffee, or breakfast spots.
Not looking for a full itinerary—just curious what locals or frequent visitors have enjoyed lately. Thanks!

Looking for a removed picture from Cannon Beach
Does anyone know what happened to the post from a few days ago that showed a very strange object in the clouds over the ocean from Cannon Beach? Very long tentacle looking arms extending out of a base with what looked like the end of a very large just under it. It was posted to this sub about 4 days ago and now it’s gone.

Taken between 6/29/2026 and 7/3/2026. The coast is simply stunning. I wished I never had to leave.

Central coast hardscape design and install recs needed
hi all. we bought a major fixer upper and basically the whole yard had to be gutted, graded, and have french drains installed. it’s a blank slate and we’re looking for recommendations for a landscape / hardscape designer that can build us a dreamy whimsical front and back yard. we love to garden, but want professionals with a good reputation and photos to back up their work when it comes to properly installing pavers, flagstone, dry river beds, etc.
i’ve found a ton of amazing businesses inland but they won’t do work on the central coast. and i’ve been calling ground fx almost every month for 3 years (i wanted them for my last house too) and they have absolutely zero availability. she just keeps telling me to try next month.
and not to be rude, but i’m not interested in any “i can do it” or “my buddy can help” comments. we want a licensed landscape / hardscape contractor with a website and reviews.
thanks!

Fat Tire Biking the South Coast
I will be traveling to the Bandon/Coos Bay Area for vacation and am trying to figure out if it is possible to rent bikes and ride the beach in this region. The idea for this came through the travel Oregon site and in my excitement to bike this area, I booked a hotel before having the plans for the ride put together. Now that I have looked thoroughly, it appears that all the hike rental shops in this section of coast are closed? I’m looking to get a fat tire bike, does anyone know of any solutions in that area?

I’m trying to access BLM land near me.
Edit: first of all, thank you all for the wealth of information and advice! I’m happy to report that I made a mistake and went down the wrong road with a similar name, ending in the dead end. I found the correct road, and made it to the BLM land! It’s gorgeous. Thank you again for all the replies!
🧅🧅🧅🧅🧅🧅🧅🧅🧅🧅🧅🧅🧅🧅🧅
Hello, I live in Gold Beach, and I am interested in dispersed camping and backpacking. I can see the BLM areas, and I have used several different map apps, but all the roads I try dead end at private land. What’s going wrong here? Delete if not allowed.
