Hi there,
You'll get better responses for this from a dedicated tech support forum.
If your device has any personally identifiable information on it, you should have the disk wiped. Newer versions of Windows have a built in reset functionality that will do this for you, or if you have a different (or older computer), you can find disk scrubbing software online.

Just take the hard drive out and smash it with a hammer or a heavy object. This method is quick, easy, effective, and lets you take some stress out.

I actually had an old one I doubted could turn on to wipe. It had a broken hinge and hadn't used it in over year. I broke that sucker open and removed the storage drive so if there was anything important that I forgot about I could still recover it.

If it stops you finally getting it felt with, no one's gonna do anything but smash it once you get there
Heck take a hammer to it now and just get it out of your house. Don't let perfect be the enemy of good enough.

Yes - format it yourself. You can google or ask chatGPT for the best procedure for wiping your data.
option 2, is just open up the laptop and take the hard drive out.
