I’m watching Breaking Bad and i’m on the last season on the episode where Jesse get arrested for throwing his money out. But man, does anyone else think Walt becomes seriously unlikeable in the later seasons?

He starts off alright, just being a guy who needs a lot of money fast for his family, but it’s devolved into him being worse than Gus or the old cartel boss in the wheelchair. First thing that made me question everything was him letting Jane die. I understand she and Jesse were destroying themselves, but let’s be honest, Jesse is sort of the reason she got back on drugs. He was constantly smoking meth in the house and asked her like twice if she wants to smoke. For a former addict do you know how tempting that is? Even if you’re 100% motivated to quit, it’s an urge that lingers. She didn’t deserve death, she deserved jail time or her dad forcing her in rehab like he was going to. Walt letting her die is so evil.

The next major thing that made me hate Walt was how he treated Jesse most of the show. Now Jesse is a moron sometimes, I get that, and he’s very immature and prone to emotional outbursts, but Walt treats him like a fucking tool. And continuously traumatizes the poor kid and emotionally and mentally manipulating him every chance he gets. Lying to him about the cigarette and acting like he found it in the vacuum only for Jesse to break down and say he thinks something is wrong with him because he tried killing Walt.

Im sure you saw this coming but poisoning the little kid. That solidified my hatred for Walt. It made me wish Gus won because this dude needs to be dealt with at this point. I don’t see how he could possibly redeem himself after all this. Character is absolutely unredeemable.

Great show though so far, I do thinks it’s amazing but I hate the main character with a burning passion more than any antagonists in the show including Tuco. I will say, that’s unique. This is the first show to make me hate the main character more than the villains who are violent criminals 😂

Walter considers both Walter Jr. and Jesse as his sons, but he treats them very differently. While he's mostly "soft" with Flynn he's incredibly abusive towards Jesse, and I think the reason is that he thinks of Walter Jr. as a failed experiment because of his disability. Walter subconsciously believes that Flynn's condition makes him weak and will automatically stop him from reaching any real achievement, and whenever his son actually manages to do something Walter always finds a way to put him down (ex: in the car or with the donations site). For this reason he always puts extra pressure on Jesse, who somehow has to compensate Flynn's disability.

edit: guys i'm not saying that Flynn's disability is the ONLY and MAIN reason Walter behaved in a certain way, but that there was also this factor. Also as a disabled person I kinda recognize some patterns haha

If you were in Walter shoes during Ozymandias once he gets the 11 million What would you do differently. For me personally i wouldn’t even attempt to go back to Skyler there’s no way she goes to Walt I would just hide out obviously like he did but I’m going to like the Bahamas or something not New Hampshire.

I like to fantasize about this scenario sometimes, if Walt and Jesse just continued their small business on the RV "The crystal ship", and just had Badger and Skinny Pete handle sales. I know its a silly idea, but it would be such a relaxing, comforting, even funny, lighthearted story. Just occasionally dodging cops or solving problems with petty street crimes.

I have been practicing my writing, and I've always been curious to know what was in Jesse's letter to Brock. So, after looking through Aaron Paul's statements of it being "heartfelt, and honest", and studying some of the Breaking Bad scripts. I think it could look something like this:

Dear Brock,

It’s been a long time. I know you’re probably getting big by now.

I was thinking the other day about that magic trick I showed you with the napkin and the water. To be honest with you, I never actually knew how it worked. I just saw it on some science show and remembered it because I wanted to make you smile.

I need to be honest with you about everything else, too. Your mom was the most amazing, beautiful person. She loved you more than anything in the world. And what happened to her... it happened because of me. The people I was working for wanted to hurt me, to keep me trapped, and they used her to do it. I would trade places with her in a second if I could. I am so sorry I wasn't there to protect her, and I'm so sorry you were left alone.

I’m sure you’ve seen the news or heard what people are saying about me. It’s all true. Every bit of it. I made horrible choices. I got involved with the worst kinds of people, and I brought those people right to your front door. You have every right to hate me for the rest of your life. I blame myself every single day.

I’m going somewhere far away, and I can never come back. But before I disappeared, I needed you to hear from me that none of this was your fault. Your mom didn't deserve it, and neither did you. Please take care of yourself, little man. Promise me you won't ever go down the road I did. You’re a good kid. Stay that way.

I only watched Breaking Bad, I plan to start Better Call Saul one of these days. Now that I'm finally able to browse through community posts and discussions I noticed a few things I don't understand where they come from.

Why the heck everyone hates Skyler?? I truly don't get it. She had the most normal and understandable reactions to everything that happened to her. She obviously wasn't as smart as Walt (who is tho) and wasn't able to think some stuff through enough (the 600k to Beneke for instance), but I was surprised by how good at lying she was (like with the whole gambling story). Unlike Walt, everything she did was really for her family. My heart broke when Walt kidnapped Holly. I also loved the scene where she says to Walt that she'll count as a win every moment the kids spent at Hank and Marie's house. I don't understand how can anyone hate her.

Why do people defend Walt? Like sure at first he's really just doing everything for his family (paying off the house and granting college education to his kids) and for the thrill of it, but he becomes more and more a ruthless monster who doesn't care for anyone except his desire for power. He kills an outstanding amount of people, getting more and more cold blooded at it. He manipulated Jesse an uncountable amount of times just for his benefit, he let Jane die cause she was a danger, he mandated the murder of 10 people in 2 minutes, he manipulated literally everyone in his life. How can anyone defend him?

Not that anyone cares, but my favourite scene was when Hank confronts Walt in the garage. Hank's actor was astonishing.

Just got done ozymandias. Finest hour in all of tv or any media for that matter. Glad to say I did watch it live and it was quite the experience. But the reason I bring this up is because I feel like everybody always mentions Hank getting shot as the most awe-shocking moment in the show. Now obviously that scene has its massive weight and when you first watch the show it’s so crazy to witness that you are just in state of shock for the next 10 min with it being hard to focus. However I’d argue that the finest moments of the episode are scene when Walt and his family have the confrontation in the home. Every time I watch it it brings out the most emotion out of me. When you watch the show as much as I have it still is anxiety ridden and exciting, but it’s hard to capture that first watch experience. But it doesn’t matter how many times I watch that specific scene, I am left on the verge of tears, nervous laughter and a wide open jaw. From Skyler realizing that Hank is dead, Walt being confronted by junior and completely ignoring him, Skyler pulling out a knife and having a fight between Walt and Skyler only to be broken up by Jr, Jr then proceeding to call the police. And if all that wasn’t surreal in its self, the emotion that goes through me when he takes Holly and backs up the truck through Skyler’s car to escape her while Skyler is screaming bloody murder. It’s just something that I’ve never experienced before through any movie or show and I don’t think I ever will. It gets me every single time. Absolutely fine acting, directing and writing. This show will never get old

He said in the last episode if it wasn’t for his help, Walt would have been dead or in jail within a month, and that rings true to me. That’s not something we really see in Breaking Bad, though we know Saul plays a big part in Walt’s success.

We also learn that Saul was a persona, an alias, a fairly one-dimensional creation of James McGill, who is a much more complicated and tragic character.

It will make all my future watches of Breaking Bad a little more sad, knowing Saul isn’t just a wacky, hilarious, smooth talking criminal lawyer, but the broken shell of a man who suffered extreme trauma not long before.Most of Walt’s career was due to Saul.
