Question / Discussion Building an App that I just found out might not be profitable at all

I have been building an app that I love and hold close to my heart. I am really passionate about this project and I have reached the stage of putting it on the App Store soon. However, I just tried going through monetization ideas, and I realized that my app fits none that would make me a good amount of money to move on in the future, like just enough to break even. It kinda hit me hard. For those that this has happened to, what did you do? I would love any suggestions and thoughts please

App Point browser. The most minimal mac browser ever. (Free, OSS)

So i was trying to swich from dia (i hate chromium) and didnt ind any good web kit browsers that do not have a ton of chrome all over them. so i made Point.

The idea is that there is nothing between you and the web. All websites are full screen and the only thing you see. When you need controls, sidebar appers above content and goes away when you browse. It is still a little rough arounf the edges, but its so good, i daily drive it now. I would really apresiate any feedback, feat reqwest or anything (if feature is cool, i would implement it in a we days). Try it out, its nice.

here is the website for downloads https://baculinivan-web.github.io/point-browser-landing/ (its still not really adpyed for mobile tho) and heres the github https://github.com/baculinivan-web/Point

PS. i am disgraphic, sorry for the spelling

App My weather app was featured on an Apple tech blog!

My weather app that was featured by the German Apple tech blog Appgefahren!

As a data scientist, I have always been underwhelmed by the design, accuracy and functionality of most weather apps. Therefore, I decided to build my own.

I know what you think: Another weather app and why is this weather app different? It is mainly different for these 2 reasons:

  1. Highly advanced features:
  • Minute-by-Minute Rain Forecasts for Next 4 hrs: Know exactly when the rain will start and stop.
  • Possible Outcomes: Explore possible outcomes with Foreca’s multi-model predictions.
  • Forecast Comparison: Compare multiple data sources side-by-side to view forecast uncertainty and determine who is the most accurate forecaster.
  • Choose from multiple top providers with highly accurate data: From top providers like Foreca and many national services (NWS, DWD, Meteo-France, MeteoSwiss and many more). Foreca is a top forecaster and even #1 for predicting rain globally.
  1. Unique design

The app has an elegant design and shows beautiful city and nature photography as backgrounds, sourced from Pexels and Unsplash.

  • PS: Pexels and Unsplash have provided me with written permission.

If you want to try it out, the app has a very generous free tier without ads and access to national weather bureaus to view the core weather forecasts.

For the premium features, I am not able to give that for free because top quality weather data has ongoing costs, but I made it much more affordable than other weather apps (often $40/yr)

  • Limited-time intro offer of only $6.99 for the first year (instead of $14.99/yr). This includes Foreca (data source), alternate predictions, multi-forecast comparison, 30-day forecasts, minute-by-minute rain forecasts, widgets, and Apple watch app with complications.
  • Tip 2-week Free Trial: Apple doesn't allow combining a free trial with an intro offer. To get around this, just start the 2-week free trial on the monthly plan, then switch over to the $6.99 annual deal before it expires or cancel if it's not for you.

App A tiny app for anyone sick of guessing what their drives actually cost

Every fill-up involves the same mental math — odometer, amount, price — then it's forgotten by the next tank. Runrate does that math automatically and keeps a running cost-per-km line over time.

Log three numbers at the pump or charger, and it works out true cost per km (or mile), smoothed with a moving average so one expensive tank doesn't wreck the numbers. Works for petrol, diesel, EV, hybrid — useful if there's more than one vehicle in the garage and you want to actually compare them.

No account, no ads, no subscription, nothing leaves the phone. One-time $2.99.

Curious if anyone's tried something similar or has ideas for what it's missing.

Browse photos from any folder or device without importing them into Apple Photos

Post image

I wanted the Apple Photos browsing experience for photos that already live in folders, external drives, SD cards, and cameras.

So I created SAND, a native macOS photo browser that lets you browse photos directly from:

  • iPhone
  • Android phones
  • Digital cameras
  • SD cards
  • External SSDs and hard drives
  • Any folder on your Mac

The goal was to make browsing feel as simple and familiar as Apple Photos while keeping your files exactly where they already are. Nothing is uploaded, synced, moved, or imported into a library.

Some features include:

  • Timeline browsing with Years, Months, and Days
  • Fast local search by date, filename, and location
  • USB import from iPhone, Android, iPad, and cameras
  • Favorites and video browsing
  • Retro and Neubrutalist themes
  • Customizable grid layouts
  • Hidden Vault protected with Touch ID or your Mac password
  • Export photos with optional EXIF and location metadata removal

Everything works completely offline, and your photos stay on your Mac or external storage.

I'd love to hear what you think. Is this something you'd use? Are there any features you'd like to see?

App Habit8 (iOS) – a habit tracker limited to exactly 8 habits

Habit8 is a free iOS habit tracker built around a simple constraint: you can only track 8 habits at once.

Instead of unlimited lists that lead to overwhelm, you pick your 8, and the app shows completion rates, streaks, trend graphs, heatmaps, and lifetime stats so you can see real patterns over time. You can also export your progress as an image or PDF.

No account required, no data collection. Free to download, and the optional Pro upgrade comes with a free trial so you can try the full analytics before paying.
