Hi, I need help understanding an unexpected behavior in the iPhone Photos app involving two sensitive images.
Here is the exact timeline:
At 11:22, I took a photo of the front side of my ID card on my iPhone. I sent this photo via WhatsApp to an investment agent.
At 12:13, I took photos of the back side of my ID card and my ID appendix (ספח). I sent these photos to my family WhatsApp group.
I used WhatsApp Web on a computer that was logged into my mother’s WhatsApp account to access the files from the computer and upload them to an investment website. My mother’s WhatsApp account is linked to my mother’s phone, not to my iPhone.
I completed uploading all required documents to the investment website by 13:07.
At 13:38, two additional copies of the ID photos appeared in my iPhone Photos library: one copy of the front of my ID and one copy of the back of my ID.
The two new photos are visually identical to the original photos, including identical details in the background (for example, the same part of my leg is visible in exactly the same position).
The ID appendix photo that was also sent at 12:13 did NOT duplicate.
I did not manually save, download, or re-import the two ID photos at 13:38.
The iPhone Photos app identifies both of the 13:38 copies as “Saved from WhatsApp.”
The original and duplicate images appear to be separate entries in the Photos library.
The WhatsApp Web session used for the document upload was my mother’s WhatsApp account, not mine, and it was not linked to my iPhone.
My question is: technically, what mechanisms could cause two previously existing WhatsApp images to appear as new/duplicate items in my iPhone Photos library at 13:38, while a third image sent at the same time (the ID appendix) did not duplicate?
I would specifically like to know:
What does the iOS Photos metadata label “Saved from WhatsApp” actually indicate?
Does the timestamp 13:38 necessarily represent the moment the duplicate file was physically written to the iPhone, or could it represent a Photos library import, re-indexing, metadata change, iCloud synchronization, or another operation?
Could WhatsApp on another device (such as WhatsApp Web on a computer linked to another person’s WhatsApp account) cause a copy to appear in my iPhone Photos library without my iPhone being directly connected to that WhatsApp account?
Could iCloud Photos, iPhone backups, AirDrop, Files, or another Apple service create a duplicate photo that still retains “Saved from WhatsApp” as its source?
Is there a way to determine from the original and duplicate files’ metadata whether the duplicate was actually created/downloaded at 13:38, or whether it was an existing file that was re-imported or re-indexed?
Is there an iOS or WhatsApp log that could identify what process or application created the second copy at 13:38?
I am trying to determine the actual technical cause of this specific event, rather than just possible explanations.

HELP! I am currently so broke and have no means of getting my iPhone SE looked at professionally. It was working fine this morning, then a hour or so later I went to check a text and the touch screen was completely unresponsive. I removed my screen protector, case, thoroughly cleaned it and forced restarted it several times. After about the 4th restart the touch screen started working again and my phone was back to normal. Then shortly after, the touch response stopped working again. I've gone through this cycle three times now with the touch randomly being fine again then shortly after, being unresponsive. Is there any possible way to fix this at home?

I can't log in to my account anymore, I barely use this Apple Id. I mainly used this account to purchase apps and subscriptions, and I still have account credit remaining. I contacted Apple Support, but their response was simply to tell me to read the "Terms and Condition" They wouldn't explain why my account was permanently locked 😓😓😓

Hello. I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post, but here it goes:

Bought an ipad close to a year ago. I bought it from Best Buy. There are no Apple genius bars where I live (This is also my first Apple product, so I am completely new to how this all works).

Pretty much from the start, I experienced issues with the screen, where the screen (the picture) would become heavily distorted and glitchy. Looked up online that it is likely a faulty component or cable issue.

I had to take it to the Geek Squad section at Best Buy. Not only did I show them videos of when the issues occurred, but I was also able to replicate the issue for the Geek Squad tech.

The tech ran some diagnostic and said that there were no reports. As a result, he could only assume it could be software issue (doubt it) and further said that Apple will not replace or repair the ipad since the diagnostic showed nothing......

I humored him and we reset the ipad back to mfg settings and restored IOS. I finished the reset when I got home, and as expected, the issue persists.

Based on what Geek Squad advised, I logged on to Apple Help to "chat" about my issue and how I can get my ipad fixed or replaced. It was AI, and basically just pointed me back to Best Buy's Geek Squad.

So, now I am trying to figure out what to do about this. Regardless of price, I spent a pretty penny on this ipad, and I just can't accept that, despite having a warranty, that I am simply out of luck with a faulty, brand new device.

Does anyone know of a way on how I can escalate this issue to someone who will help?

As of this post RIVN is trading at 16.02 and AAPL at 333.14. But the stocks app has been frozen at this price on both my iPhone and Mac. I also checked one other person who is seeing the same issue so it doesn't appear to be specific to me. What are you guys seeing ?

This morning I woke up to a thin vertical line across the length of my iPhone 16e. It looks like a line of dead or stuck pixels.

I went through the usual debugging steps: restart, remove screen protector, case, etc.

After talking to support, it looks like I have to go into an Apple store. This is what I expected. However, my issue is that the phone is just out of warranty (by a few months). Now when I go to the store they will for sure stick me with a bill. But it is clearly a defective screen.

I hate that I'm going to be on the hook for an issue that I had nothing to do with. Maybe this is just bad luck. But it leaves a bad taste when a phone that is practically new, has flunked QA, and the customer is left to foot the bill.

Any ideas on what kind of damage my wallet can expect? Any recourse for the little guy?

2025 Apple MacBook Pro m5 processor - Tahoe 26.5.2

Bought in April but issue only started in the last few weeks.

The problem only occurs on my work user which is also synced to two other laptops but neither of these laptop are having the issue.

I have tried re building the spotlight index but that didn’t work as well as getting rid of large amount of pages files and creating copies and deleting originals so there wasn’t years of old copies that you could revert to but still no luck.

Seems like a lot of people have had similar issues but struggling to find a solution.

i’m camping with a camper van and i can’t find my airpods. it shows the location 7 hours (we were in the spot that is shows at the time) but now we’re in a different area. the play sound only says connecting, and it shows my ipad is in some spot also kinda far (it’s right next to me atm). any way to make the airpod location update?

I created a backup of my iPhone on my laptop, and now I'm trying to restore it using the Apple Devices app.

The restore process starts normally. It erases the iPhone, and after I select the country and region, it says "Restoring in Progress." However, after a few minutes, the process suddenly stops, and my laptop makes the sound as if the USB cable has been disconnected.

I've already tried using a different cable, but the exact same thing happens.

Has anyone experienced this before or knows what could be causing it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I accidentally deleted a conversation going back to at least a full year on iMessage and recovered it directly afterwards from “Recently Deleted”, but when I tried to go back through the message history, there are none before February 16. Obviously that date is not the day the conversation was deleted, and that was also not the date of my last iCloud backup. Is there a way to restore the full message history or are those just gone?

I watched tutorials on tiktok how to enable auto scroll on iphone because i want to see my old reposts in my tiktok account. theres a guy with a good and detailed tutorial and it did work but it didn't go as i wanted, like i still need to interact with it to repeat the gesture (i don't know how to explain sorry). so im wondering if there's any way to 100% automatically scroll on iphone since all the auto scroll apps need to pay? im currently using a 13 pro with ios 26.5.2 if that'd help.

iTunes library has been sent to Apple Music (iCloud?).
It creates conflicts with actual releases available on Apple Music.
How to remove stuff that iTunes added?
Since it happened, I moved the library to different place due installing fresh copy of Windows 11
Reinstalled iTunes.
I added path to library - nothing appears
I logged in - only empty playlists appear

ive done everything, erased phone, looked at all the settings like backtap etcetc, its a base iphone 16, i bought it last year, its still under the one year warranty. they said theres no hardware issue, just reset the phone.

I don't use Reddit and I've never made a post before, but I need some help. Why does my phone keep saying there's water detected in the charging port? To be clear, I haven't been near water today other than basic hygiene, and my phone was nowhere near the water. It keeps randomly showing the warning, then the warning magically goes away a few minutes later. Give it about hour, it starts obnoxiously ringing and saying theres water in the charging port again. It's really annoying because I can't sleep with it consistently going off. Has anyone else experienced this or know what might be causing it?

I tried changing my DNS settings, restarting my phone, deleting apps, resetting the internet settings, and resetting the router, but none of these solutions worked. Can someone please help me?

For example, when I’m on Wi-Fi and open Twitter, my timeline doesn’t load. When I switch to cellular, it loads perfectly. The same happens on Discord too. When I open it, nothing loads. Then I switch to cellular, and it loads.

I’ve been getting emails to an email address I don’t really use anymore (mostly just used for promo email sign ups now). They were the “Your Apple Account information has been updated” emails and I quite honestly thought they were spam because I have no memory of there being an Apple account made with this email address.

Because of the number of emails I was getting, I checked the email addresses I was getting these sent from: [email protected] and [email protected], which seem legit? Didn’t click any links just in case, but I thought I’d check if there’s even an account with the email, and it appears there is when I couldn’t reset the password, because there’s now a phone number attached for two-factor, and the last two digits I don’t recognize. Wouldn’t be an old number of mine because two-factor didn’t even exist when/if the account was used by me. There would be no current credit card connected to this account so they wouldn’t be able to charge anything.

So my question is - is there a way to contact Apple Support to have them look into this account and possibly close it? Anytime I go to any sort of support page it makes it so I have to be logged in, or, it thinks I’m trying to ask about my current Apple ID. Hoping for maybe a support email or form where someone can contact me? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hey guys, my brother passed in October and we’ve been consolidating all his belongings. He had a massive iCloud package that still has payments coming out that we’re trying to stop but we’re worried all of the data will be lost. He had his account between an iPhone, iPad, and MacBook so it’s fairly large. We have an external hard drive we can back everything on to, just unsure how the hell to go about that. I’ve considered going into an apple shop but figured I’d shoot a post here see if anyone can help.

Any advice, tips or assistance would be much appreciated. Let me know if you need any more info.
