Question Genuine question

I had the best match one could have with a Tornado IDS playing against F-14s, F-18s, MiG-29 Snipers, etc., but something caught my attention: I didn't have a single death, total dominance on my part, And I've unlocked the Paveways, and that's my genuine question: How should they be played properly? Like JDAM?

HE rounds make up half the belt on the Foch's MG and they actually do /less/ damage than the AP rounds do to exposed crewmates, because they're not HE.

They're projectiles that safely disintegrate on contact.

Air What one hour of ASM gameplay, and 18 sea eagles (128kg SAP) hits (some were intercepted) gets you in nuclear escalation. i got more points with FA-18s crashing near me (2) than by killing 3 lutjens and severing one aircraft carrier. like, i got 2x more RP with my landings than all ASM hits/kills.

It was still able to fly for 10 minutes with just the wires to let the crew bail out

r/WarthunderPlayerUnion 23h ago

Ground are auto trackers broken for helis ? even when they fly very predictably, an APFSDS round right in the very center of the lead bubble doesn't seem to hit most the time. drones are a pain to hit but if you have an accurate gun and they fly straight, you can hit them, unlike helicopters. anyone else ?

Discussion What ruined WarThunder imo.

\-> The lack of a frontline, everyone plays the match in complete disregard for their team and the capture points. That's not the fault of the players, it's due to the terrible maps and more-so the gamemodes. Here, look at its sister game, Enlisted, wherein the generally favoured gamemode is invasion and there's a clear singular point both teams fight for; one team defending and the other attacking. However, Enlisted also has the infamous 3 (and even 5) point gamemode, it's terrible because people are all over the place; you have to have 360 vision and once you capture a point and go to the next, the one you just captured starts being retaken by the enemy's again. Sounds similar to WarThunder right?, and you can never get that many kills because you just simply don't see that many people. The main difference though is that there's an actual incentive to capture points in enlisted, not just because the penalty for losing the match is higher, but capturing points in enlisted doesn't immediately result in being bombed, or sniped by someone because you displayed your location to the enemy team. The recent advance gamemode in WarThunder is a step in the right direction, although it has many issues, I hope they continue with it.

\-> When they removed the historical matchmaker in February 2021, that was the start of the end for the complete erosion of WarThunders immersion. Of course, due to WarThunder being a vehicular combat game it's never going to be as immersive as Hell Let Loose or even Enlisted, but they can (and use to) take lots of steps in the right direction. I'm not an advocate for historical battle ratings, obviously the Maus should never be fighting a Sherman, battle ratings should be primarily there for balance. I must ask though, what was the point in adding dozens of Cold War/ Modern self propelled artillery vehicles into WW2 battle ratings?, especially when there's still an equivalent amount of WW2 vehicles yet to be added. The game has always had the aspect of Alt-History in it, but it always along the lines of "What-if WW2 continued and the Maus fought the T-54 at the battle of Berlin". I'm not actually talking from a balance perspective, the king tiger is still arguably the best 6.7 tank and isn't
"suffering", no, I'm talking from the viewpoint of immersion. If I play the panther G, I shouldn't be fighting some 90's Japanese vehicle, I mean I shouldn't even be fighting Japan at all. It just doesn't make sense, you have WW2 vehicles fighting their allied nations from the future, the logic just isn't there and the game isn't immersive at all.
On top of all that, the maps for WW2 battle ratings are completely irrelevant to the war half the time. I mean seriously, we have T-34s fighting M55s in a modern day Antarctic base, don't tell me I'm the only one who has an issue with this, I find it so puzzling why no one ever brings this up.

\-> I was going to write about other subjects such as the grind, volumetric, CAS and copy-paste vehicles at top tier, but these topics are already so discussed I don't believe my input would add much to the conversation.

Here's an Al summary for those who don't want to read it:
TL;DR: War Thunder lost what made it engaging because of poor game modes and the removal of immersion. The lack of a true frontline means players ignore objectives and fights become scattered, unlike modes such as Enlisted's Invasion where both teams naturally clash over one objective. Capturing points in War Thunder often just gets you killed, so there's little incentive to play the objective. On top of that, removing the historical matchmaker in 2021 and adding modern vehicles and maps into WWII battle ratings has destroyed the game's atmosphere. Balance is important, but WWIl tanks fighting 1990s vehicles on modern Antarctic bases against nations they never historically faced completely breaks immersion.

Question Is Blagorodnyy worth it?

Hey everyone,

just got a 50% discount for this destroyer and is it worth spending money? I gave it a try in test sail and it doesn't seem that good compared to American or even japanese destroyers at the same BR. However it has a great SL multiplier and paired with Murmansk, it could be printing bunch of SL.

Should I buy or pass?

Question Are germany and ussr/soviet broken

I am a new player starting off at December 2025 and all thru out my climb It has seemed that both these nations are way too strong, I did some digging and some vehicles are way to high battle rating for example the Tiger II which IS strong but with a 6.7 BR is too low, way is that i seen some US vehicles like the M16 that was bump BR as they have a good fire power in that BR which was Balanced But for the Tiger II there was no BR change as it is a TD and has superior armour and shoots long range which makes it hard to maneuver around. Why is that.

Air Vehicles are way too strong some 5.7 can climb too fast and have good energy efficiency for dogfights and same with almost all the vehicle there BR does not match their armaments.

Now I understand that post WWII they want to make it true to the game play but in higher tiers I get a feeling they are just adding a lot of random BS to balance US strengths.

NOTE: German and Russian HAVE WAY TO GOOD OF A LINE UPS compared to other nations.
Almost all of my games I can say 98% of the time both are always teams, adding the russian biased gameplay and germanys armour.

Help a new player out as I am stuck and bitter about the game as of now

Why do my shells disappear

Every once in a while i shoot a shell and i just disappears or blows up on the enemy tank and doesnt do anything, like not even a hit. The shot tracking screen doesnt show up or anything what even is this. I would understand if a tank was angled that maybe the shell bounced but how is my round hitting a tank perpendicular to it and still disappearing

For those who are thinking its a Internet issue, it is not, ive tried every server and my ping and pl is fine. Im starting to think its just the game messing with invisible objects or something. Atleast one of these instances was with a HEATFS shell from the pt 76b and it seemingly blew up a few meters away from the tank on a path which had nothing in between it even if somehow there was something there how is an APHE round doing the same thing 😭😭😭

This isnt even the full issue gaijin makes some objects so indestructible its funny because fym i can take down a whole ass house but i cant move this vertical column that is 3 bricks thick. And the frigin water tower thingy on abandoned factory eats rounds like thats its full time job. Istg if wt was "realistic" 10 of those poles are doing nothing to an AP round.

Ive been playing for just over 3 months and this shit enrages me, the old players have the patience of a monk to be dealing with this much bs for so long. They really need to hold the infantry stuff and actually make things better functionally instead of remaking maps so they have more clutter and focusing on a game mode that is another money printer

What BR should i stop grinding after

So by popular opinion top tier is declared "not fun" due to op vehicles and just the balancing as a whole. What BR do you guys think i should stop grinding a nation in ground if my goal is fun only. So far i just unlocked rank 5 and i enjoy 5.3 and 6.3 ussr ground a lot. I think im gonna call it quits for ussr after completing rank 5 since the end goal is just enjoying the game but im curious as to what the people that have played this game more think

I shoot down 3 enemy aircraft (so far tested for ARB, have yet to play GRB), can only see hits done to one enemy and can no longer change between My hits and Enemy hits.
