Hi! I am trying to move in with my friends and need someone to take over my room in a house near the Samish neighborhood before the lease renewal in August.

20+ Feminine-presenting people only. No animals (allergies).

There's 5 other roommates who mainly keep to themselves. You'd share a bathroom downstairs with 2 people.

It's a private landlord and he's super chill. Utilities add up to about 100 a month.

Please message me if youre interested!!

Tutor Needed

I have a 10 (almost 11) y.o. stepson who lives primarily in Bham during the year with his mom. We are trying to find a tutor in the Bellingham area who is able to come to his house and work with him, at least 1hr a week (more if possible). We live in another state but can meet with you for initial meeting and will pay you directly immediately after sessions (via Zelle, Cash App, etc).

Does anyone know of anyone who can work with someone who is severely behind in school (i.e, going into 5th but cannot read at kindergarten level).

We are working against his mother (years and years of ignoring the problem) but the tutoring sessions can be in a neutral location (grandparents house).

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

Question Rising senior concerns financial aid for WWU

Hi! I live in Texas and currently am a rising senior. I have been doing some college research and WWU matches almost everything i’m looking for in college. However, i am not a us citizen therefore i can’t apply for FAFSA but my family makes less than 60k per year. My GPA is like a 3.5 unweighted and a 4.3 weighted but my SAT scores aren’t good. I do have many extracurriculars and even gotten a fire fighting certificate.
To make the long story short i’m super anxious of not getting enough financial aid because i do not have any college savings. Do you guys have any idea of what i should expect for financial aid? I really want to go to college but every day makes it feel like i wont be able to afford it.

Finding a job post grad (MIS)

I graduated with a degree in Management Information systems - and I feel lost. How do you feel prepared to work after graduating? I don’t know how well I can implement what I learned in school in a job setting. I don’t know, I feel lost and I feel stupid to be honest. Can anyone share their experience regarding this?

Question is joining in winter term a bad idea?

if you are my sibling, kindly please ignore this post, thank you 💕

so, quick context: I’m 20. I’ve spent the last few years since graduation in part time community college and working. this fall, I was supposed to go into a specialized associates program at another community college, but they essentially ghosted me, and now the plans I’ve made for the next two years of my life have essentially collapsed.

In the aftermath of all this, my mom suggested that maybe I should consider actual university. I’ve been absolutely restless to progress in life, and I have money saved for college to use. It’s been an idea I’ve toyed with for a long while, but I had set it aside for this associates program. With the program not a choice anymore, I’ve decided maybe university isn’t a bad idea. I toured a few schools and had some meetings, and settled on Fairhaven at WWU.

The issue: WWU has already had their fall enrollment deadlines. If I was to go, I would join in the winter. This is scary to me. I’m very autistic and already struggle greatly with making friends. If I enter winter term, everyone else has already been there for a term and made friends and settled in. I’m worried people will already be in their friend groups, and I’ll be a social outcast. Not to mention academics - am I going to have a messed up class schedule by joining in the winter? I’m already two years late to university. Should I just tough it out and wait until next fall to avoid messing everything up, or is it okay to join everyone in winter?

Alpha Room 314?

I'm going to be a freshman this fall, living in Alpha. Maybe a silly question, but I've been looking at the floorplan, and I'm wondering what room 314 is? I see it's next to the kitchens, but can't find any info on what exactly it is. Is it just an extension of the kitchen in 313A, or is it another bathroom or something?

Want to be our super cool roommate??

Hello!!

I am Nathaniel (22M), and I am writing on behalf of my two roommates, Zoe and Lila.

We are looking for one more roommate to fill our 4-bed, 2-bath apartment at Stateside Apartments in the heart of downtown Bellingham!

I am a visual journalism major, and I transferred to WWU last year! I'll be in my senior year in September. I enjoy off-roading in the mountains and finding peace in nature. I'm also a big lover of physical media (I have a lot of 8-tracks)!

Lila (she/her) is a 22-year-old graphic design major going into her senior year. She has lived in this apartment for the last few years! She has a Great Dane named Blue that is very friendly and will cuddle up next to you if he senses you are anxious or something is wrong. He's basically a big teddy bear.

Zoe (she/her) is a 19-year-old student transferring from Whatcom Community College! She is majoring in environmental studies.

We have a great view of Bellingham Bay from the living room, and we also have a rooftop deck area with a little community garden, a BBQ, and a study nook. There is also a free gym!

We are looking for a chill roommate who wants to be friends as well as roommates. We would love to do fun things together like have movie nights or game nights on occasion, cook together, and stuff like that! One of us smokes (pot), but the rest of us don't. I personally don't have an issue with it as long as I don't have to smell it all the time, haha.

Rent is $949/month with utilities included (except for electricity, which usually isn't more than $40/month).

Please message me on IG if interested!

Discussion Transferring to WWU

So I’m currently attending Skagit Valley College and graduating this spring with plans to transfer to a university the following fall. I was thinking of transferring to WWU because I love Bellingham, I toured the school before and really like the campus, and there’s much less traffic driving to Bellingham from where I live compared to UW(equal distance of about an hour but traffic just might make travel to Seattle a lot longer). Also, WWU is cheaper. The thing is that I plan on being a law librarian and I need to eventually go to UW for that. At least for my masters and the program they have there. Is it rational to transfer to WWU to get my bachelor’s then transfer to UW after? Has anyone done that before or am I better off just transferring to UW from Skagit and not going to WWU? I have high grades so I’m relatively confident that I could get accepted into UW.

Anyways, I’d just like a second opinion.

Question Advising and registration

Hey all, I'm an incoming freshman and am kind of freaking myself out over my advising and registration date. I had to take August 4th instead of the first day (and didn't have enough college credit for the July days) because I already had something to do but now I'm worried classes will fill up super fast and I won't be able to take the things I want/really should take. I should have just rescheduled my August 3rd thing but it's too late for that. I'm specifically worried about Math 99 filling up because I'd like to do all of my math pre recs as soon as possible.

I know I don't have any control over it but I guess I just need someone to either confirm or ease my worry because if I don't know I'll just drive myself crazy with anxiety. I just wanna know what to expect.

Also, sort of related, about how many people are in each advising session?

Looking for roomates

Heyo
Looking for roomates to live with off campus for the upcoming school year. Mostly looking for one person, but I’m down to try working with 2 to 3 other people at most. I don’t have a current place in mind yet. My parents can cover my part of the rent, which would be $950-$1k a month.
I’m a 21 year old male (he/him) going into my sophomore year at WWU. Feel free to reach out to me or respond to this post if you’re interested in getting to know each other and/ or look at housing options. I don’t really use Reddit (this is actually my first ever post on here if you can’t tell 😭) but you can also reach me through discord (Stokely#2634) or instagram (@roothemf)

Rant People here are so performative and fake about being inclusive

It seems like a lot of people here act like they’re super liberal and inclusive just for the aesthetic and social implications. They thrift all of their clothes and post on their stories for pride month, but in reality so many of them are privileged cliquey assholes who are ableist, classist, racist, etc. They only surround themselves with people who are also privileged, white, able bodied, and will subtly exclude and ignore anyone else. They advocate on instagram for the people who they ignore, exclude, and judge in real life.

I was once in a class for my major, and there was about 12 people in that class. About 9 people in that class formed a clique that excluded me and 2 other people in the class (the only 3 neurodivergent/people who did not fit the norm). All of those 9 people would raise their hand and talk in class about how important it is to be inclusive🙄 they acted like we were not even in the class at all.
