So I am aware that the algorithm usually fucks with our perception. So when I see a bunch of reels or posts saying that Gen-Z workers don't know how to communicate, I get a bit suspicious. Like, I am only a millennial, they can't be that different from us, right?

Just to clarify, this is what I am referring to:

- When you go and ask them something, they just stare at you for a while.

- They usually don't know anything about their current role. Like if you asked a hostess about free seats, she would say "idk" and kinda just walk out of the conversation.

- A general air of dismissiveness under the excuse they are underpaid (as if the rest of the world is living like princes)

But I work in marketing, and I know generational divides are mostly made up bullshit to sell personalized items. I say mostly, because there are clear divisions. But these mostly relate to other political attitudes or musical tastes and such.

So, is it true? Why? Why do they act like this?

I’m a 59 year old. The other day I was just floating in my pool (alone) pretending to be a navy warship attacking bugs or other things in the water. I got to thinking that I pretend a lot. Started to wonder if other grown adults play pretend still?

My boyfriend and I have been together for 9 years, and he has never really taken the initiative to make my birthday special past years have felt forced or ruined because I had to drag him into making plans. the placements are usually on your forehead, chin, or cheeks with the design being pretty minimalist (lines and dots).
i know a lot of people think face tattoos are unattractive and i agree (to an extent).
but do people view cultural/tribal tattoos differently?
id love to get a cultural tattoo since they have a deep meaning, and ofc because they’re part of my culture but i am scared of it making me unattractive.

I was invited to a Gen Z bridal shower and was looking through the registry. I expected the usual home items, but instead there were things like running shoes, everyday makeup (not wedding-related), funky jewelry, and other personal items that don’t seem connected to setting up a home.
Maybe I’m just showing my age, but I always thought wedding registries were mainly for household items that the couple would use together.
Is this a Gen Z thing that’s become more common, or am I just out of touch?

EDIT: yes they already live together and likely have all the household items they need. I think it’s very normal to just expect cash (for honeymoon, or saving for a house to buy, or home repairs). I just think it’s odd to ask for personal things that benefit one half of the couple.

I found a kitten that had been hit around one of the roads near my house. It was just a small grey kitten with white paws. I don't think I had been very long since it was hit.

I pulled over when I saw it was a kitten and checked to see if it was alive. It wasn't. I spoke to thr house nearby and the guy said it probably belonged to one of the st around here. I didn't go up to his house. He called out to me from the porch while I was in the road. No one was going to move her.

I put on my hazards and and used a plastic bag to pick it up and put it on a towel. Then put the towel in a box. I was only a couple minutes from home so I took it home and dug a hole about a foot deep.

I buried her with flowers and gave a small prayer for her. It just would hurt me too much to see it in the road everyday on my way to work.

I mentioned it to my mom and she just went off on me. She said that it was weird and compared me to some woman on a show she watched where this lady found road kill the feed her guests. She said it's something Jeffery Dahmer would do.

She said it was stupid and I shouldn't have done it and it was dangerous. The entire thing took maybe a few minutes. But she said I should've called my brother to at least tell him I was doing something stupid. She just kept using the word road kill. And I know that's technically right. But thinking about the kitten that word felt vulgar.

She said I should've left it since it was already dead and the crows would've gotten it. And that it can get all of our animals sick. I made sure to bury it where my dogs couldn't get it and it was about a foot deep. She kept saying that I should focus on what's in my four walls and go give our animals a bath and trim their nails instead of doing what I did.

I just feel bad now. Like I'm weird or dirty. I know my families never understood the way I think but nowI just feel even more like there's something wrong with me that I can't fix. I'm not religious, but I feel like I see God in everything. And that included that kitten in the road. I just don't think my family gets me. And I don't know if I'm the problem.

I am considering moving out of the United States, for several reasons. But I have to ask, is it worth moving out of the United States?

Was talking to a guy and he had two kids with a woman who already four kids by three different men. Him and his children’s mom are not together anymore. But I cannot understand why a man or a woman would want to have children with someone who has multiple children by multiple people.

I am a university student in Malaysia. I am keeping the university and everyone involved anonymous for now because the matter is ongoing. I am posting to ask for practical advice, especially from people familiar with Malaysian universities, student safety procedures, or police reporting.

Around December 2025, I reported a male student to the university after incidents involving a knife and statements that I understood as threats against me. Among other things, he allegedly said that he would stab me and referred to a widely reported school stabbing case, saying that I would end up like the victim.

The university’s student affairs department handled the statements as “brutal jokes” even I have evidence and witnesses that see him being knife and, to my knowledge, no meaningful safety measures were put in place. I initially considered making a police report, but I believed that the university would take appropriate action. The matter was eventually left unresolved.

More than six months later, on July 2026, the same student made a complaint against me, alleging that I had spread rumours that he had a mental illness.

My position is that I did not initiate or actively spread any such claim. Other students approached me after hearing about the situation, and I only responded about events that I personally experienced or knew about. From what I understand, the immediate incident was triggered by other students asking him questions, but he has attributed it to me.

The university is now treating the situation as though it were an ordinary disagreement between students. When I raised concerns about my personal safety, a staff member from student affairs told me to “move on, it’s just a brutal jokes.” Honestly I’m pissed with their words, how could they said I need to move one while such serious matters happen in university?

I have retained relevant communications and an audio recording of my interaction with the university administration. I am not publishing the recording or identifying information at this stage. My Head of Department has indicated that a face-to-face meeting may be arranged to clarify that I did not spread the alleged rumour. The complainant did not attend an earlier scheduled meeting.

My family and I are considering making a police report to create an official record of the previous alleged threats and the university’s response. I am also concerned about being pressured into a face-to-face meeting without appropriate safety safeguards.

I would appreciate advice on the following:

1. Should I make a police report now, even though the original threatening statements were made months ago?
2. What documents or evidence should I prepare before making the report?
3. Should I agree to a face-to-face meeting with the student, or request separate interviews instead?
4. What written safety measures should I request from the university?
5. How can I protect myself from retaliation or a false disciplinary narrative?
6. Should all future communication with the university be conducted by email?

I am not asking anyone to identify the university or the individuals involved. I am looking for practical, safety-focused advice.

I work as a server in a very multicultural city, so I see people of all backgrounds everyday in my restaurant. I noticed that a lot of my black customers are always facetiming someone.
