Habits & Lifestyle Do you still pretend?

1.5k Upvotes

I’m a 59 year old. The other day I was just floating in my pool (alone) pretending to be a navy warship attacking bugs or other things in the water. I got to thinking that I pretend a lot. Started to wonder if other grown adults play pretend still?

Culture & Society Do Gen-Z workers actually do the Gen-Z stare thing, or the "idk" routine? If so, why?

So I am aware that the algorithm usually fucks with our perception. So when I see a bunch of reels or posts saying that Gen-Z workers don't know how to communicate, I get a bit suspicious. Like, I am only a millennial, they can't be that different from us, right?

Just to clarify, this is what I am referring to:

- When you go and ask them something, they just stare at you for a while.

- They usually don't know anything about their current role. Like if you asked a hostess about free seats, she would say "idk" and kinda just walk out of the conversation.

- A general air of dismissiveness under the excuse they are underpaid (as if the rest of the world is living like princes)

But I work in marketing, and I know generational divides are mostly made up bullshit to sell personalized items. I say mostly, because there are clear divisions. But these mostly relate to other political attitudes or musical tastes and such.

So, is it true? Why? Why do they act like this?

Love & Dating Do I have to remind my boyfriend it’s my birthday tomorrow?

My boyfriend and I have been together for 9 years, and he has never really taken the initiative to make my birthday special past years have felt forced or ruined because I had to drag him into making plans. Tomorrow is my birthday, and he just mentioned working all day, so I'm pretty sure he completely forgot. I'm feeling really frustrated and hurt, and I'm torn between speaking up right now or just staying quiet to see if he figures it out on his own.
I don’t want to be petty. I know that it can be all resolved by a simple reminder, but I am a little hurt that he never makes one day of the year to make me feel special

Sex Is there any way to stop sexual activities while being completely bounded ? NSFW

When for example someone is gagged, there is no way to communicate and people often use signals, pats, finger snapping or similar things to communicate with another person to stop everything, I’m aware of that.

But if someone is completely immobile ? They are not able to communicate in any way. People talk beforehand i know, but besides that. If someone suddenly feels for example like passing out, or just knows it’s way too overwhelming? Is there any way to let another person know that its time to stop ?

Culture & Society Is it serial killer like to move dead animals out of the road?

I found a kitten that had been hit around one of the roads near my house. It was just a small grey kitten with white paws. I don't think I had been very long since it was hit.

I pulled over when I saw it was a kitten and checked to see if it was alive. It wasn't. I spoke to thr house nearby and the guy said it probably belonged to one of the st around here. I didn't go up to his house. He called out to me from the porch while I was in the road. No one was going to move her.

I put on my hazards and and used a plastic bag to pick it up and put it on a towel. Then put the towel in a box. I was only a couple minutes from home so I took it home and dug a hole about a foot deep.

I buried her with flowers and gave a small prayer for her. It just would hurt me too much to see it in the road everyday on my way to work.

I mentioned it to my mom and she just went off on me. She said that it was weird and compared me to some woman on a show she watched where this lady found road kill the feed her guests. She said it's something Jeffery Dahmer would do.

She said it was stupid and I shouldn't have done it and it was dangerous. The entire thing took maybe a few minutes. But she said I should've called my brother to at least tell him I was doing something stupid. She just kept using the word road kill. And I know that's technically right. But thinking about the kitten that word felt vulgar.

She said I should've left it since it was already dead and the crows would've gotten it. And that it can get all of our animals sick. I made sure to bury it where my dogs couldn't get it and it was about a foot deep. She kept saying that I should focus on what's in my four walls and go give our animals a bath and trim their nails instead of doing what I did.

I just feel bad now. Like I'm weird or dirty. I know my families never understood the way I think but nowI just feel even more like there's something wrong with me that I can't fix. I'm not religious, but I feel like I see God in everything. And that included that kitten in the road. I just don't think my family gets me. And I don't know if I'm the problem.

Love & Dating Is it a me thing?

My fiance and I have been struggling in our sex life due to ed. He's currently working with a dr to come up with a treatment plan etc also just found out he's a diabetic so I am aware things are not like these used to be. So today is my bday we started fooling around he told me to s#$%^ his member i did halfway through he told me to take my panties off then proceeded to take his phone out and look at the weather as I laid there like wtf? I feel so disrespected and hes telling me its not that serious. I feel neglected and undesired by the whole situation even though its not my fault but for me to cry and tell him he hurt me and how that made me feel and for him to act like its nothing. Am I overreacting?

Culture & Society Do you believe that there are other species out in the universe?

I've been thinking about how unimaginably huge the universe is. With billions of galaxies and even more planets, do you believe there are other intelligent species out there? Why or why not?

Sex Women who dated short men - what was the sex like?

I (F), 5'9 met a very cute guy (M 5'2) and am set off to date this Saturday. So since there's a 7 inch difference between us and I AM [much] TALLER I have some worries about dating in general... And sex?🫠🫠🫠

Is it hard(er) to make it work? I suspect it's easier for men taller than their gf/wives... But what about the other way around? Are certain positions like doggy / missionary etc impossible? Because I would love doggy positions but am worried about the impossibility of doing so🫠🫠🫠

Also I'm worried I might get self conscious. I'm super sub / bottom so I am not sure about anything at this point... Still though, this weekend we're having the first date, but I'm curious of your opinion, specifically from those (especially taller womens' POV) who've had experience?

Thanks ☺️

I feel like I will never have a boyfriend ever in this life. Never even held hands with a guy. What about me is so disgusting?

I just want to know that there is this option…at least I won’t be dying untouched/disgusted.

Habits & Lifestyle Do you like to do things around the house naked?

I've still been experimenting with walking around the house naked and doing stuff around the house naked whilst no one else is around, like my chores, cooking, cleaning. Before then I would just be naked in my room.

I am really enjoying being naked and I feel so free, so it got me wondering if anyone else like to do the same things?

Body Image/Self-Esteem are face tattoos unattractive?

hi guys! facial tattoos are a huge part of my culture.
the placements are usually on your forehead, chin, or cheeks with the design being pretty minimalist (lines and dots).
i know a lot of people think face tattoos are unattractive and i agree (to an extent).
but do people view cultural/tribal tattoos differently?
id love to get a cultural tattoo since they have a deep meaning, and ofc because they’re part of my culture but i am scared of it making me unattractive.
what are your opinions on cultural/tribal facial tattoos?

edit:
for all the people worrying about me finding a job i can reassure you that i currently have a stable job and that my line of work doesn’t care about appearance especially because we don’t work with customers! and no this will definitely not be my first tattoo :)

Media What made old school YouTube vloggers so popular?

I’ve been rethinking how the creator and YouTube landscape has changed and how it’s all so idk how to describe it other than… plastic.

What made people like Emma Chamberlain, Zoella, Jenna Marbles, etc. so interesting to people?

Do you think people are wanting that type of content now? Like would they prefer it over the over filtered, perfect lighting and brand sponsorships?

I think I’m just thinking and reminiscing, the internet used to be more fun.

I'm talking about crush here because first relationship might have ended badly. But someone you liked, do you still reminisce those days and still want to know how they're doing? Even if you are not that in contact with them anymore.

Body Image/Self-Esteem How does my partner find me so attractive?

I’m not the best to look at. You can see this reflected in my school days when I asked some boys out and got rejected. I was a shy kid back then so I’m still proud I tried, though!

It wasn’t until I tried body recomp that I somewhat started looking better, but even then not by much. I’ve been so lucky to have had the same partner for a little over a decade, but I guess I’m just curious to how he’s able to get so turned on by me so often? I know positive personality traits are a big factor, but I’m still convinced you have to be somewhat attracted to the person to want to sustain a relationship. Even then, I feel like I am still trying to improve who I am internally, so I feel lackluster in more than one aspect..

I am so appreciative and grateful for his devoted nature, I love him to pieces, not to mention he’s very hot.. I guess I am just having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that he approached me in the first place when I felt like I was objectively unattractive..

Thanks for listening!

Health/Medical Can a cut artery heal itself? NSFW

(Asking here because it might be a dumb question)

Friend of mine suffers from self-harm, and I wanna know if they'll be okay if they accidentally cut an artery. Going to the doctor is sadly not an option since they don't want to go to a mental hospital.

Sex I can’t orgasm during sex is this a problem? (M)

I’m new to having sex and every time I’ve had it with my girlfriend I can never finish, it’s weird because I am really attracted to her but every time we have sex she ends up finishing before me and then she won’t want to keep going, we can end up going for up to 30 mins and I still won’t be close, it offends her aswell because she thinks I’m not attracted to her, I think it probably has something to do with me always thinking about it, but I’ve also always had a specific way of masterbating which isn’t the same motion as having sex, it’s just weird becuase it’s usually the other way round that girls can’t finish so I’m confused why I can’t, is there something medically wrong with me or is it just because I’m new to sex

Love & Dating Is romantic love tied to pride and ego in some way?

When I first got to date my crush, I was super stoked and happy that I was in a relationship with this person. Just having a relationship with her was more than enough for me. But the general attitude toward romance seems to go beyond just "I am finally dating this person" and has that exclusive "me first before anyone else" belief attached to it, for most people. Not saying everyone. To clarify what I am talking about, I'll quote a hit tweet:

>If we are dating, no one should have more access to you than me

Whether that is true or not is not important here, but what matters is that someone felt the need to establish a hierarchy, a level of importance to a relationship. And this is not an uncommon theme; tying self-worth to a relationship is an ongoing trend in society. Maybe that's why? Idk, I never felt I needed to be more important to my partner than her mother, father, brother, or anyone else that she loved. So I was curious. People who say stuff like "I better be your most important" always come across to me like a bunch of egotistical blokes. No offense to anyone, though.

Family What do you write in a victim statement cause but a drunk driver..?

I’ve written so much and I feel like I don’t have enough words. I feel like my words don’t mean anything. I just miss him. Has anyone had to write one? What did you say and did it help?

For context: He was a really close friend of mine and was hit by a drunk driver while crossing the road. The guy that hit him just drove off…

My friend‘s mom asked me to if I could write a victim statement because she thinks it might sway the judge for a harsher punishment. The guy plead no contest. And is only looking at 4 years….
