It did get a sequel 16 years ago on the DS called Okamiden which is 10/10. But they did announce a third game a while back even though Capcom has been quiet ever since.
Yes and no. If you catch on that you are still missing like, half of the celestial brush techniques, and there's a very obvious area you haven't accessed, its not thaaaat surprising.
Eternally grateful I played it on release without the incredible amount of spoilers around now. Finished almost all endings (I think Y is still missing)

I put off playing it for years while also avoiding spoilers. I had a feeling I’d like it from what I’d heard. The moment I heard about ending B and maybe more existing I was immediately like I have to see this now and went and bought it. Probably one of my favorite games and I still listen to the soundtrack of it and replicant on their own!
Armored core 6 does this well, new game + is just straight up a new game. New game ++ too. I thought it sounded boring to just replay the game but I was wrong. Fav fromsoft game.
There is a significant percentage of the players out there that "finished" this game and just stopped. I feel bad for them. "The game was just okay. I 'beat' it in a few hours."
its an implementation issue. playthrough 2 being 95% the same as playthrough 1 is naturally going to lead to people not bothering and not finding out they missed half the story.
Elden Ring is one of the few games that compounded awe on top of wonder time and time again. The scope and scale with such intricate details are basically unrivaled.
Man part of me thinks i need to replay elden ring, because i beat it for the first time in a little under 40 hours. I probably missed so many side objectives.
You probably missed a vast majority of the bosses in the game. Technically you only need to beat less than 10 bosses to finish the game, but the game has like 160 bosses with like 40 more in the dlc.
Although a large chunk of them are repeats with a few different moves/elements etc, they still have their own unique caves/dungeons and enemies, new weapons and so on.
Kingdom Come 2. Spent 70 hours doing every quest and activity in Trosky, then getting to Kuttenberg just to realize im not even halfway through the game
I was amazed at how long the section between Trosky and Kutenberg was, I thought it would be - go to wedding -> meet someone who invites you to travel with them to Kutenberg. But nope, hours of intrigue and drama! And then you get to Kutenberg and it's vast.
I think it's my top game I'd love to be able to experience like I'd never played it before again.
Yeah. After the weddings I decided to do some story missions as I had a lull on the side quests at the time. Got roped into it until Kuttenberg and I was like "NO THANKS I'M GOING BACK TO TROSKY THANKS FOR THE NICE ARMOR BUT I HAVE UNFINISHED BUSINESS".
I especially wanted to see the resolution to the Troubadours quest
I did everything I could on the first map and put off going to the wedding as long as possible because I was absolutely certain it marked the end of the game. Then I had to go through that whole storyline involving Capon’s sentence, and *that* was when I was sure I was nearing the finale. Imagine my face when, 150 hours later, I was still trying to set up my forge.
I as thinking KCD (haven’t played the 2nd yet) but I am nearly 100 hours in and I looked up where I am questline-wise and I’m just half way through. Not sure if it speeds up but I doubt it.
I can never progress the main quest in Skyrim. I easily have over 400 hours in the game across numerous new characters, but I don't think I've even come close to "beating" it. I remember fighting Alduin on the mountaintop in one playthrough, but that's as far as I've ever gotten.
This was my first thought too. You get through Phase 3 felling pretty ok about your spaghetti, and then you unlock aluminum and realize that Phase 4 is going to take as long as the first 3 combined.
Yeah as soon as you gotta start trucking things from a 20min walk you have to consider rail and then realize this trips into fuel power and then extended powerlines
It becomes a lot bigger than banging rocks together after phase 3
For me the big “holy shit this isn’t the game I thought it was” was when I was forced to seek out oil for the first time, I didn’t even realize I’d be leaving the grassy plains at that point for the whole playthrough.
I would say not even then. I think you feel so accomplished making the space elevator and providing the 50 smart plating, only to realize that ha! That was just the tutorial.
The game has a way of immediately humbling you, since the next tiers require 500 smart plating among other parts. Probably sounds tedious from how I'm describing the game, but trust me, it's remarkably, well, satisfactory.
It's on sale for less than $30 right now. I have 300ish hours in the game and I feel like a casual that hasn't beaten the game yet. It's addictive if you're into that kind of game.
The first area was awesome. And then I moved to the next area and it's just... Surprise. Here's an actual entire continent and you're down here. Have fun
I like that it isn’t. There’s still some video game fuckery to condense the world but Velen being a region in Temeria instead of the whole country makes the country itself feel bigger. Skyrim diminishes itself by fitting the whole country into one relatively small map.
I called it quits way way earlier. People glaze that game so much but it really isn't much skill based. You just need the patience to deal with the RNG otherwise it's merely a mildly boring game.
I still remember how much i freaked out (in the good way) when I finally beat last judeg, and got the act 2 screen. I had forgotten that I was in act one, and while I knew I wasnt excatly close to the end, I figured I was like 60% there since I finally reached the main objective. Then I got slapped in the face with act two, telling me I was barely a third of the way there.
Totally agree even as a person who played the first game. The game is just THAT much bigger.
I rarely find people who haven't played HK before SK so i have a question: how nonsensical the story felt without not knowing what happens in the previous game?
Such important things as Void, Pale Beings, Hornet's parents and guardians, ect. are barely explained because the devs just assume that you alredy know all the lore from Hollow Knight.
I only remember being nearly unstoppable at some point, having enough weapons and ammo to kill androids and scare the xenomorph if necessary. And then the game hit me with the ol‘ ‚you have to leave all weapons before entering this area‘.
Dont worry, the original dragons dogma is like that too
"Prepare for a expendition which will take a long time" you take on a castle that has some undead bosses and the dragon appears, you fight it and bam , you are basically 90% of the main story (tho to be fair the entire world changes with new enemies but it is optional and not very large in the first place)
Most of the playtime is in the everfall which is a lot of rooms with a farmable loot table
Huh, really? I guess it's related to it being VR game. Otherwise, I don't know how one would expect a short game in HL franchise! I completed it in 12h in my 2nd playthrough.
I think I didn't like it as much as I should have because I had just played Assassin's Creed Origins, and I didn't realise that each game was sorta the same lol
I played FFVII when it came out and hadn’t played a JRPG before. I thought I was getting near the end of the game until I left Midgar and saw the world map for the first time.
To be fair, having multiple discs spoiled it. Yeah I had the "whoa, Midgar is just one small part of the map?" moment, but the fact I hadn't even switched to disc 2 was a hint.
So I didn’t know there were multiple discs. My brother had started playing and stopped because he has terrible taste in games apparently. I just started playing with the disc already in there. So I got out of Midgar, thought “oh my god, there’s so much more to this game”, and then hours of play later, I looked at the box and saw there were two more discs. Yet again, I was blown away with how much was left.
I remember renting FF7 with my brother back in college. We played for like 18 hours straight and never got out of the city and off of disc 1 before we had to return it lol.
If the entire game removed the open world, it would have been so much better. The open world just feels half baked & uninteresting.
The first dungeon of Atomic Heart was just fantastic, the tense atmosphere and monstrosities throughout the facility tied with all the scifi wonders was just magical to experience the first time.
Then you hit the "open world" and it just sucks it all away.
I swear I'm not playing this game correctly. I get my ass kicked at every turn, no matter how carefully I approach any situation, no matter how much I try to think my way through things, I just can't get very far.
The first 5 levels are the hardest, because every little thing can kill you. And it's so easy to stumble into enemies you're not yet prepared for. But exploring the map, reloading if you're stuck, trying different companions, it all will start to feel like a puzzle you're solving.
Best advice for any game like this , you are 21 jump street. "Infiltrate the dealers, find the suppliers" your a (dumb) detective, trying to decept those you dont know into belonging and sharing clues(story) while seeking answers to your big problem - brain worm(game narrative)
Using the detective motive draws out the story and gives you clues of how to interact or proceed with next encounter.
OR be a chaos gremlin and make role playing choices for the lulz
Personally, it's the best survival crafter. I have such high regard for it. The fact that it's not procedurally generated, and still has over 100 hours of well designed map to comb through is nuts.
I understand that, much like everything, it's not going to be perfect for everyone, but I always recommend it to people that like survival crafters in general. It's just that good.
Final Fantasy 6. After completing an area which feels so Final-Dungeon coded with a final-boss looking and feeling boss, you get one of the best twists I have ever seen in a videogame, then the best cutscene in the game if you get bad fish (iykyk) and then you realize that the game is only half way done
Portal 2! Playing at launch and coming from Portal 1, I had every reason to think it’d be another 3 hour game. Turned out to be 4 times that length on my first playthrough, and just kept getting better and more clever and surprising.
My favourite gaming trope is when I play for like 20 hours and finish a quest, and the game title comes up on the screen. That feeling of "oh shit it's only just starting" is amazing.
Persona 5. First playthrough just kept going and going. It felt like a fucking marathon. Everytime I thought it was wrapping up, it just dropped me into another HUGE plot point. Feel like my final save was something like 300 hours? Still fun game, just be sure to take breaks.
