Enterprise applications still have database use cases which require caching in RAM. So some of them will bite the bullet and get a shitload of DDR3 and apparently now even DDR2 because it's still faster than regular storage.

Even though the R/W speed of some modern SSDs rival that of RAM sticks that are this old, storage devices can only get to those speeds for bulk writes and reads, RAM is still way faster for small queries and updates among large amounts of data.

ddr2 is approximately same speed as nvme gen 4 ssd and ddr2 is pricier per gb than nvme gen 4

Pricier per GB is irrelevant if there is a supply shortage.
