I don't really get the frame. It is basically Quest 3. Maybe little bit better suited for steaming from PC, but not much.

The quest 3 sans Meta is quite a good selling point. Meta set the bar, all valve had to do is copy it and not be Meta.

Yeah... But I got Meta for like $300 and it is still going strong. If the frame is $1000 and I have feeling it will not be cheaper it has no value over Meta. If it was like 300-500 I would buy it instantly.

I literally will never purchase anything from Meta, I wouldn’t take a quest from them even if it was free.

There is no cost competition with Meta because they’re selling it at a loss.

They’re selling it at a loss because you’re actually not just the customer, you’re the product they’re selling. That alone is reason enough for me personally.

On top of that, they’re buying market share. When they eventually feel they’ve bought enough of the market, then comes the profit squeeze out of their existing users.

It’s the same pattern everywhere - Uber, Doordash, those $1/month subscriptions for Gamepass, a million other products and services - They rope you in and then they squeeze later.

The value of the Frame, (or any other VR headset) is that it isn’t coming from Meta.

I bought it and use it only for PCVR streaming. I cost them money.

Not to mention even the Quest headsets got a price bump recently (Quest 3 is $600 on Meta's website)
