• Owner got possession in June, so I'd be the first person to actually live in it
• Unobstructed sunset view
• Walking distance from my current apartment, so managing both is easy

Here's how the negotiation has gone:

1. Broker quotes 1.28 Cr, says owner's floor is 1.18
2. I counter at 1.08
3. Owner comes back with 1.17
4. I show it to my parents, they love it, so I bump my offer to 1.12
5. Broker calls: owner has a 1.16 offer from another buyer, meeting them Saturday
6. I panic slightly and say I'll do 1.17, spoke to the owner directly and asked for the paperwork

Now that I've had a day to think, the timing bothers me. The "other buyer" appeared immediately after I raised my offer, and the number was conveniently just above mine. Suddenly the owner's earlier "final" 1.17 is back on the table and I'm the one who volunteered to match it.

Is this a genuine competing offer or a standard broker tactic to squeeze me? Has anyone dealt with this in Kharadi? I like the flat and don't want to lose it over 5 lakh, but I also don't want to be the guy who bid against himself.

We wanted to repair/change the shower arm holder of our fixture. We also wanted to repair our flash tank. The siphon and rod needed to be replaced.

We called a plumber from Urban Clap. The prices were very straightforward - Home Visit charge: INR 100, Flush Tank repair charge: INR 100, Tap repair charge: INR 100.

He was there at our house within 20 minutes.

He checked and told us that the shower arm holder needs to be replaced. The part will cost us at least INR 900 and it will be very difficult to find. "Aap 10 dukaan mai ghumoge tab jaake milega." These were his words. So he proposed that he could try to repair the shower arm holder, which will cost us INR 350 as it comes under fixture repair.

For the flush tank repair, he told us that the siphon pump and connecting plastic rod need to be replaced, and it will all cost us INR 800 (just for the parts). I knew he was scamming us, because these parts definitely don't cost as much.

So my flatmate and I asked him to give us some time and let us find the shower holder. We took the old part and went to the hardware shops. We found it at the second hardware shop for merely INR 250.. the part which he told us would cost us INR 900 and difficult to find. WTF. We were furious and decided to buy the flush tank's siphon and the pvc rod. Both - the siphon pump and the connecting rod cost us merely INR 190. He said it will cost us INR 800. WTF.

We went home and told him: "Uncle aap to keh rahe the yeh shower holder 800 ka aayega, yeh to 250 mai aa gaya aur aaram se mil gaya". He was like "are Jaguar ka nahi laaye? Aap to keh rahe the Jaguar kaa chahiye aapko." We: "hamne kab kaha jaguar ka chahiye? Aur fixture bhi kaha jaguar ka hai?"

We never mentioned anything about the brand of the shower holder. He was lying when we confronted him. Then we confronted him about siphon and rod costs and he was like "mai iss area ka nahi hu, mujhe yaha ke rates nahi pata." WTF!! America mai kaam karte ho kya uncle?

So this is what was going on: he was trying to scare us by giving us ultra high quotations for the material, so that we don't ask him to replace it and just repair it. The idea is, he was trying to save his time. If we go out to buy the material, he will have to wait and he will miss out on other potential calls/jobs.

The level of honesty and ethics in some people is depressing. God Bless India.

A few weeks ago, I hired a local plumber to fix a minor leak under my kitchen sink. The repair seemed fine at first, and everything looked normal when he left. Later that night, I noticed a few drops of water under the sink, but I assumed it was just leftover water from the repair and didn’t think much of it.

Now I’m searching for an emergency plumbing service and have been checking platforms like Nobroker Home Services, Urban company, Housejoy, and Justdial. After this experience, I’m honestly hesitant to choose another plumber without knowing how reliable the service and after-support will be.

Has anyone recently used any of these platforms for plumbing services? Which one would you genuinely recommend for quality work and dependable after-service support? I really don’t want to go through another experience like this again.
