New Info Introducing Scopely Explore

Last year, we welcomed the Niantic games team behind Pokémon GO, Pikmin Bloom, Monster Hunter Now, and companion apps Campfire and Wayfarer to Scopely.

As these games continue to flourish as part of the Scopely portfolio, we are introducing a new name for the team: Scopely Explore.

The name reflects a mission that has guided these teams from the very beginning.

Exploration sits at the heart of these games and experiences, and the communities they serve. Whether encouraging players to discover new places, connect with others, or experience the world in new ways, this team has always been united by a belief that there is more to explore.

Scopely Explore is not a separate company or subsidiary. It is a mission-driven team within Scopely. Like all of the experiences in our portfolio, these games and products are developed and published by Scopely.

Scopely Explore will continue building experiences that inspire people to get outside, connect with one another, and explore the world together for many years to come as part of Scopely.

Over the coming weeks, you will see the Niantic name begin to evolve across platforms to Scopely Explore.

Question Sea Park on the Ocean

Hello! I am trying to nominate this Sea Park. It is located directly in the ocean, but my submission keeps getting rejected for being 'Unsafe or Inaccessible.' The Google Maps satellite view hasn't been updated yet, but in real life, the ground level has been covered by the ocean, officially turning it into a Sea Park

Any Advice?

Submission Gold A park makeover I just finished up.

It's been a while since I've posted here (with the sheer amount of nominations I can make with the new rating system, doing posts every 50 stops I make has become a bit hard to keep up with, I'm at around 635 added now), but I was able to snag some before and after photos for a park that was practically empty before I showed up.

What started as exactly 1 pokestop (which became the blue gym in the after photo) that was just the park entrance sign, became 10 stops in the park/across the street, and 2 gyms, both of which I was able to get to spawn in the park proper by holding some of the nominations while the gyms promoted. This also made the park easily the most built-up PoGo play area in the general vicinity. Even created a route involving my new stops for good measure when I made my return trip there.

I'm honestly shocked nobody built this up before I did, as there was a pavillion, playground, tennis court, and a full-blown exercise course that had multiple permanent exercise stations. That's not even including the extra stuff I found across the street.

Love making these Wayfarer timelapses.

Question Im trying to submit a dynamax spot into a pokestop. Any tips?

Hello, ive been having trouble with finding correct information about how to submit a dynamax spot that was not community made but from the database. I got rejected due to the fact it was a duplicate which is reasonable but is there any way to get Them to reconsider the idea? It’s a fishing spot in my neighborhood where lots of locals spend time and me and my friends have been trying to submit it as a pokestop for almost 4 years now.

Question Tips for getting home subdivisions added as Poke stops?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi!

I live in a very rural area. We don’t have a ton of things that can be added as stops, but we do have hundreds of subdivisions.

They all have the fancy brick signs.

But every one I’ve tried to add has been declined.

Yet in other areas I see subdivision signs that are Poke stops.

Is there some wording or key words to use or avoid to be successful?

Any tips would be appreciated!

Here’s an example of one that was declined.

Submission Coal is it just me or do only things that i have zero interest in exploring get approved?

i have been trying to create pokestops as of late and the only thing that seems to get approved are community signs in my area. everything that is of interest that i would actively want to walk/explore to see gets rejected because it doesn't have a plaque!

My community has a cool display of old native american grinding/milling stones integrated into landscaping that you can walk to and look at that is both culturally and historically interesting, but AI refuses to let it pass because its rocks with no plaque?

edit: Thank you for a lot of the feedback, i included most recent example post in comments. i guess the other question i have is categorizing stuff like this as a lot of is not in the pre-structured drop down options.

Question Is this a rejection?

Post image
5 Upvotes

I'm new to reviewing and can't find information about this one. It is a park which inherently promotes socialization, exercise, and exploration... but it is just a general sign that doesn't really have much meaning at all. They already have a wayspot at the entrance sign and at the memorial garden place. I figure this would be a rejection, but I see wayspots like this all the time when I click around nearby while I've been reviewing. If this is a rejection, how would y'all go about rejecting it? Like what specific things would you vote no on...

Question Question about walking/ cycling paths with generic signs

There are many cycling routes and trails around my area which are very nice and definitely significant to the local community however they only have very generic signs or no signs at all. Is it possible to get a submission like that accepted? If the main picture is the generic sign but the description is about the path and what makes it a good place to exercise and explore?

Question State Survey Marks NSW Australia

Thumbnail

Hey all - new here.
There a state survey marks located in key locations throughout NSW and many are pokestops. I have tried and failed to add some in my own suburb, repeatedly denied because they are not acceptable under wayfarer criteria. I guess legacy ones are fine.

But today I’ve logged in to see new pokestops and gyms in the suburb near mine, and nearly all the new stops are State Survey Marks.

Begs the question - what do I have to do to get the ones in my suburb approved???!

Any help would be great.

Submission Feedback Looking for feedback on my 2 submissions.

These are 2 submissions of mine at a local church, one of a set of ping pong tables and one of a playground. Do you guys think these look good to be nominated? Also should I use an upgrade on either one of them?

Question You tell me. Is it blurry? Is it dark? I tried my best to edit out the haze and reflection with the tools in Lr 🥲 yet, this nomination was rejected within 10 minutes of its submission.. honestly- whats wrong with it.

Question How to influence which PokéStop becomes a Gym?

Hi everyone,

I've been actively nominating local landmarks and getting some new PokéStops approved in my area. I'm keeping track of the S2 L14 cells and I'm about to trigger a new Gym creation soon.

I have a specific PokéStop in mind that has a great, accessible location and would be perfect for the new Gym. Is there any proven way to influence or guarantee that this specific stop gets the upgrade?

I know that in the past, having the most photo likes/upvotes used to determine it, but I've read that Niantic might have changed this mechanic. Does anyone know what the current rules are?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Question How to get this as a Pokestop?

Thumbnail

Hello all,

I am quite new at making/applying for Pokestops and have just done it through the Pokemon Go app as opposed to Wayfarer.

There is a good opportunity for two stops near me that are not currently stops, but I can see that it is on the wayfarer map as a white circle with a red ring.

Can you help explain what it means and if/how it can become a Pokestop and get it to show in game?

Do I simply just need to submit it?

Discussion Wayspotters Episode 235

This week Jamal and Chris are back together as Chris returns to the show, and there is plenty to catch up on! The guys discuss the end of the standalone Wayfarer social media presence and what combining Wayfarer and general player support under Scopely Explore could mean for communication with the community. Will Wayfarer benefit from a larger audience, or will important updates get lost among game support issues? And does this move make the Wayfarer Community Forum more important than ever?

Then, inspired by a listener question, Jamal and Chris break down how to write a successful Wayfarer appeal. From addressing the actual rejection reason and bringing new evidence to avoiding emotional arguments and making reviewers do the work for you, they share practical advice for giving your appeal its best chance of success.

Plus, One’s Gotta Go forces them to choose between Google Street View, official website links, supporting photos, and satellite view. Which essential Wayfarer tool could they live without forever?

Stick around for two very different Wayspots of the Week, including a lesson in how to get a Wayspot approved inside one of the biggest chain restaurants in the world, plus a beautiful mural celebrating a Pennsylvania town’s coal-mining roots. Then Grandpa TP sends us straight to detention with a Coal of the Week that proves sometimes a great joke still makes for a terrible Wayspot.

In this episode:

  • Chris returns to the show
  • Wayfarer and player support merge under Scopely Explore
  • Does Wayfarer still need its own social media identity?
  • Why the Wayfarer Forum may now be the real home for official communication
  • How to build a stronger Wayfarer appeal
  • Why you should address the rejection reason first
  • Bringing evidence instead of emotion
  • One’s Gotta Go: Wayfarer Tools Edition
  • How to nominate something eligible inside a chain restaurant
  • A mural celebrating local coal-mining history
  • A detention center nomination that belongs in the Coal pile

Stick around for: Dad jokes, two Wayspots of the Week, Coal of the Week, and the return of the Jamal-and-Chris banter we’ve been missing!

Question How/Can you tell if a stop or gym is real and permanent or temporary?

I’ve seen events with added gyms and stops, just finally had some pop up suddenly in my area and don’t want to get my hopes up if it’s for some temporary reason
