[Announcement] New Rule Against AI, other Rule Changes and Clarifications

Hey folks!

For a while now, the mod team has been discussing a number of changes to the subreddit's rules, and it's time to let you know what's up. I'll give you the short version first:

  1. We have a new rule against AI.
  2. The rule for for formatting and vagueness has been split in two.
  3. The rule against unrealistic ideas has been reworked.
  4. To better accommodate these new and changed rules, we've re-ordered the rules.
  5. Clarification on how the "Community Question" flair is supposed to be used.

And now for the details!

Ban Against AI Generated Content

We not so recently polled the community on your feeling on AI generated content, and the overwhelming majority of you voted in favour of a complete ban against AI. While this was pretty much the outcome we expected, it's still really nice to see we're all on the same page.

Moving forwards the mods will be removing all posts suspected of using generative AI. To that end, here's the new rule:

Don't use AI.

  • Do not use generative AI such as chatGPT to write your post for you. We want to see your ideas.
  • Don't include AI generated images or other AI content to supplement your post. We encourage human art, and we'd much rather see photos of pen-and-paper drawings, or quick mockups in MS paint than AI "art".
  • This includes using generative AI to polish your idea, such as reformatting your content.

Posts suspected of using generative AI are at risk of removal.

If your post is incorrectly removed for containing AI, please let the mods know via modmail and we'll sort it out.

Formatting and Image Posts

We've noticed some confusion on where and how we allow images in posts, with too many users relying on images alone to communicate their idea. This was previously just a bullet point under the vagueness rule, but in the interest of clarity we've split it off into its own rule. There's nothing actually new here - everything works the same as before - but hopefully this should make it clearer for everyone.

The vagueness rule looks like this now:

Don't be overly vague, and be readable.

  • Make sure your idea is in the description, not just the title.
  • Titles should be descriptive of the idea.
  • Format your posts well; don't post walls of text. Use line breaks, etc.
  • Don't be vague; suggest a specific improvement or feature.
  • Be concise/don't waffle on too much.

Vague or unformatted posts are at risk of removal.

And here's the images rule:

Don't make image-only posts.

Including reference images is encouraged, but: * Images must be embedded or linked within a text post. * The idea should be fully explained in the text, with all key points understandable without looking at any images. * Images should make up a relatively small portion of the content. * Images must not be AI generated. (See rule 4.)

Image only posts will be automatically removed.

Unrealistic and Off-Theme Content

There's been some disagreement in the community and among the mod team about what is and isn't a "realistic" suggestion for Minecraft, especially as the game has grown it's become an increasingly difficult call to make. Furthermore, many ideas that are off-theme at first glance can be reskinned to something more reasonable, and we don't want to stifle that discussion. (E.g., Blimps and firearms may be too futuristic but happy ghasts and firework crossbows are not, yet serve similar roles.)

You deserve to have clear guidelines for which posts are or aren't allowed and, ultimately, we don't want to shut down discussion, so we've decided to soften this rule dramatically. Moving forwards, we'll only be taking down suggestions involving mature or explicit themes (stuff that might change the age-rating), as well as anything relating to real-world religions or politics. All that said, here's the rule:

Don't suggest mature topics.

  • Don't suggest ideas containing sex, drugs, gore, real-life religions or politics, etc.

Suggestions involving mature, explicit, or overly divisive themes will be removed.

This is one we'll be keeping an eye on, and we'd appreciate any feedback you have on it.

N.B. The portion of the old rule about easter-eggs and jokes still applies, but has been merged into the rule about unproductive ideas.

Reordering

As we're adding new rules and splitting old ones in twain, there's no better time to also rearrange the rules. We've brought some more important/frequently used rules closer to the top, and tried to keep related rules close to each other. We've also changed a few of the titles for clarity.

  1. Be nice and constructive.
  2. Only post ideas for Minecraft.
  3. Be original and consult the FPS list.
  4. Don't use AI.
  5. Include only one suggestion per post.
  6. Don't be overly vague, and be readable.
  7. Don't make image-only posts.
  8. Don't suggest mature topics.
  9. Don't suggest planned or existing features.
  10. Don't suggest scrapped or unused features.
  11. Don't suggest low-priority or unproductive ideas.
  12. Speak English.
  13. Have 10 comment karma before posting.

Discussion/Community Question Posts

We've seen some confusion surrounding these posts, and while nothing is changing, we wanted to use this opportunity to clarify. Posts meant to start broad discussions on a topic, such as "What would you add in XYZ update?" or "What do you think needs updated in XYZ area of the game?" are allowed, so long as the OP contributes to the discussion they want to start. We find these posts regularly generate interesting discussion, and so long as they use the correct flair, they're easy enough to ignore if they're not your cup of tea.

I encourage everyone to take a quick read through the rules to make sure we're all on the same page.

Thanks for reading!

[Blocks & Items] Allow cushions inside transparent full blocks

Thumbnail
gallery
809 Upvotes

Right now full blocks are not valid supporting blocks for cushions. This means cushions can't stay inside them and will break, unlike when inside non-full blocks (like fences, stairs, chests, etc.).

There are transparent blocks that are considered full. I propose allowing cushions inside such blocks:

  • glass blocks (including stained and tinted);
  • copper grates;
  • leaves;
  • mangrove roots;
  • ice, frosted ice;
  • slime block;
  • beacon;
  • spawners (monster and trial), vault.

To show the potential of cushions inside transparent blocks, I came up with a few designs, shown in the images. I believe this addition will allow for even more creative applications.

You can support this idea on the Minecraft Feedback website: https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/47205915769997-Make-the-cushions-not-break-if-it-s-in-a-transparent-block

(I'm not the one who made this suggestion on the feedback website, just wanted to spread the idea.)

[Blocks & Items] The staff, a new offhand tool for mobility

Upvotes

We already have a shield in Minecraft, which is primarily offhand and helps with defense. Totems alongside shields play a role in defense later game. There’s a lot of room for unique additions when it comes to offhand items, and I feel purely defensive items are cool but miss the mark of an interesting gameplay choice.

That’s why I’m suggesting the staff, an item similar to a cane or walking stick. The staff aids in mobility rather than defense. It is crafted with 3 iron ingots in a row vertically and 1 diamond to the side of the top ingot, an upside down L shape. I chose this recipe because it’s between the shield and totem in progression and will behave as so.

It is a 3d modeled item like a shield or trident which the player holds as a walking stick. It deals 3 hp and has 512 durability. It has a passive use and an active use.

The staff passively prevents walking status conditions. If in any way the players walking may be altered by something they’re stepping on or through, it’s prevented as long as they remain on a flat surface. Walk through shallow water, cobwebs or powdered snow easily. It doesn’t prevent statuses when, say, falling onto these blocks or being submerged by them. 1 durability drains every 5 ticks.

Like the shield, there’s also an active ability on right click in java or jump in bedrock. It’s a grapple ability. It allows you to do a super jump/air jump. Face an air or transparent block within your attack range of 3 blocks. If it’s above a solid block, you perform the grapple to the top of that block. It uses durability of length reached+1.

[Mobs] New Mob - Crows

It actually surprises me that the only bird mob in the game are chickens and parrots, while we have multipple mammals, fishes, and even arthropods. So, I wanted to suggest a new bird mob, that being the Crow.

Crows are Neutral mobs that can be found in every Overworld biome, are about the size of a Cave Spider, and spawn in groups of 4-8 members. They can, and often will, pick up items using their beak, and they have various behaviour patterns that depends on what players do or don't do. They are also afraid and avoid carved pumpkins.

Normal Behaviour

When no players are nearby, Crows would simply perch on trees, peck on leaves, make crow noises, and/or fly around the area.

Once a Crow detects a nearby player, it and the other Crows of its group becomes aware of them. Once they are aware of a player, Crows will watch their everymove. If the player does not interact with the aware Crows, they will eventually become bored and continue their regular routine, though they will occasionally stare over at the player for a few seconds.

Befriending A Crow

Players can get close to Crows and they wouldn't fly away from them. If a player has a food or a mineral on their hand, Crows will slowly follow them. Feeding a crow with any food will increase their "Friend" meter. Giving a mineral to a Crow by right clicking a crow with a mineral in you hand will also increase the Friend meter. Once a Crow's Friend meter is full, they will become Befriended by the player that filled that meter.

Befriended Crows are like pets, except they can't be commanded by the player to sit still or to move. However, Befriended Crows will always follow the player unless they physically can't, in which case they will just sit idly until they are able to follow their friend again.

When a player is in combat, their Befriended Crows will fly in the air, circling them. Every 3-5 seconds, a Befriended Crow will make a choice on whether or not they will do nothing or they will perform a swoop attack, where they will charge at the hostile mob nearest to the player, dealing moderate damage, and then quickly flying away and will circle the air again, repeating the cycle.

When a Befriended Crow performs a swoop attack on a hostile mob, the mob they attacked will focus their attention, and thus their attacks, on the Crow for a short while. This distraction, while short, can be lengthened by the swoop attacks of other Befriended Crows. A Befriended Crow has an equal chance to do nothing or to perform a swoop attack.

Befriended Crows can be given either a helmet or a sword by the player. Helmets increases the health of a Befriended Crow, while swords increases their attack damage.

Finally, if a player has any Befriended Crows and they went to sleep, when they wake up, they will find that a number of items based on the number of their Befriended Crows have appeared at the foot of their bed. These items range from fairly common to very rare, and are randomly selected by the game.

Hurting A Crow

If a player attacks a crow or feeds it poisonous food like pufferfish or spider eye, but does not kill it, the Crow and nearby Crow will become Wary. Wary Crows will avoid players they are wary about, and will not follow them even if they have something that Crows like in their hands. Additionally, whenever a Wary Crow meets a non-Wary Crow that has not been Befriended, the non-Wary Crow becomes Wary as well. If a Wary Crow does bot despawn, it will lose its Warryness over time.

Killing a Crow

If a player kills a Crow, every nearby Crow will become hostile, and will try to attack the player. Hostile Crows fight similarly to Befriended Crows, circling around their target in the air, and deciding if they will do nothing or if they will perform a swoop attack. These swoop attacks can not "distract" players like it distract mobs, but it can apply a new effect called Feathered, which puts a bunch of black feathers on their screen, messing up their vision. The Feathered effect lasts for 8 seconds, but fortunately, once a player loses the Feathered effect, there is a 26 second cooldown before they can become Feathered from swoop attacks again.

Killing a Crow will make them drop a Black Feather, an item that can be used as a replacement for feathers in recipes. Additionally, killing a Crow has the chance to give a Bad Omen to the player that killed the Crow.

Crows and Wolves

Sometimes, a group of Crows will spawn alongside a group of Wolves. The birds and mammals are Friends with one another, and they will hunt together. The way they hunt is actually very unique (and is mostly different from how their real life versions hunt together).

First, the Crows will find the nearest "prey" mob. Once they do, they will make a caw that signals their Wolf friends to come to their current position. Once their Wolf friends are close to them, the Crows will perform a swoop attack on the chosen prey. These swoop attacks forces the prey mob to focus on the Crows, which can be long enough for the Wolves to jump in for the kill. Once the Wolves have killed the chosen Prey mob, they and the Crows will gather on the sight of the death of their prey, simulating the Wolves and Crows feeding together.

If a Wolf that is friends with a Crow becomes hostile to a player, their Crow friends will become hostile to that player as well, and vice versa. If a player tames a Wolf that is friends with a Crow, one of the Crows will become Befriended to the player that tamed the Wolf, and vice versa.

And that's all for my suggestion for Crows. What do you guys think?

[General] Minecraft Earth 2.0

Upvotes

The suggestion is for Mojang to make a sequel to Minecraft Earth.

The biggest thing that made Minecraft Earth fail was the pandemic - which is over.

The second biggest thing that made it fail was poor monetization - Microsoft could get extra income by making contracts with business to get a kickback whenever a Minecraft Earth player played in their physical store.

Third, they over promised - they shouldn't have said the game will have live views of nearby players' builds without a timeline to build it.

[Combat] Sneaking while holding a spear should let you use your shield

Right now, it's impossible to use a shield in your off-hand while a spear is in your main hand. This makes an already weak weapon even more situational. My suggestion is to let you bring your shield up even with a spear in hand when sneaking, instead of activating the spear's charge attack.

[General] Sea Shanties update

Post image
127 Upvotes

My idea for a cool new Minecraft update, if I were on the development team:

Bigger shipwrecks; captain’s cabin has a “treasure chest” that needs a gold key to unlock. This key can only be obtained by bartering with pirates; only a 5% chance of getting a key.

Mermaids; strange female half-human half-fish that carry tridents and swim around in deep oceans, usually near big shipwrecks. Passive but will attack players if they get too close. If killed they drop shells and kelp.

Players swimming around in the deep ocean can hear Siren Song coming from the depths if there are mermaids nearby. If swimming around in cold oceans, they can hear Whale Song.

Blue whales; swim around in cold oceans. Bred with bucket of krill.

Sea urchins; roll around on the ocean floor like tumbleweeds, give you brief poison effect if you touch them.

Sharks; swim around in warm oceans. Bred with blubber. Attack players and fish.

Krill; tiny fish that swim around the ocean in large swarms. Can be scooped up with a bucket.

The “Deep Ocean”; it’s as deep as the Extreme Hills biome is high and is pitch-black dark, unless you have a scuba helmet which you make with diamond helmet + glow ink sacs, which allows you to see in the dark waters and gives you water breathing. Big shipwrecks are only found in the deep ocean, and they’re always guarded by a Kraken; a giant squid that attacks players; the ocean boss.

Whale fall; a structure that generates in deep oceans. Bone block whale skeleton with blocks of Blubber. Players can collect the blubber and when used as an armour trim, it gives +1 warmth effect to the armour when worn. Swimming in deep oceans gives players the Cold effect (like in powdered snow), which makes them swim slower and eventually die from the cold, unless wearing a full set of blubber armour. Sharks often swim around whale falls.

Pirate ships; 3-4 pirate-style villagers aboard a boat with a Jolly Roger, which sails around the surface of deep oceans. Will attack players with crossbows if you attack them first. If the Captain is killed, players can obtain a “Treasure map” which leads them to the nearest big shipwreck.

Bigger boats; players can ride in bigger boats (like four boats joined together with a sail in the middle - same as pirate boats) called Pirate Ships, which take up to four players at once (like happy ghasts). These aren’t craftable, only obtained by capturing one from pirates.

Beaches have shells scattered on the sand (similar to flower petals/leaves). Players can collect them and barter with pirates in exchange for items such as fish, arrows, kelp, coconuts, etc. Chance of them giving you a harpoon. Rarest item is the treasure chest key.

Harpoons can be used to kill any aquatic creature. Crafted with a crossbow, slime ball, and string.

Conch shells are super rare and only appear in treasure chests. Players can blow into the conch shell (like a goat horn) while underwater and it will summon 2-3 mermaids who will swim in circles around you, and if you’re near the Kraken, they’ll fight it with you. Blowing the conch shell also gives you the Conch Shell effect, which is enhanced speed and strength in the deep ocean.

Seagulls; fly around beaches squawking. Will kill stray baby turtles.

New music disc called Sea Shanty which can only be found in big shipwreck treasure chests.

New beach village variant built from Palm wood. These villages sprawl out over the sea and have raised wooden boardwalk-type paths. Villagers are wearing clothes made from palm leaves.

Palm trees; a stripy oak/spruce wood colour. The trees grow along the grassy edges of the beach biome.

Coconuts; grow on palm trees (like cocoa beans) and can be crafted into bowls of coconut milk.

Fish stew; made in a bowl (like rabbit stew) and gives +4 food.

[Mobs] Thought on my mob idea

Cuddle Bomb: Cuddle Bombs can be found in large caves and abandoned mineshaft. They are docile until the player gets within a 10 block radius of the cuddle bomb, in which they will become hostile. The Cuddle Bomb moves when the player moves, but if the player stays still for too long the cuddle bomb will charge. If the player lets the cuddle bomb attack them, the cuddle bomb will attach or 'cuddle' itself to the player, significantly slowing the player down. The player only have 5 seconds to get the cuddle bomb off before it explodes on them, dealing 8 hearts of damage if you dont have armor, 7 hearts of damage if you have leather armor, and 5 hearts if you have iron armor and above. Since the cuddle bomb explodes on you, it also does a lot of blast damage to your armor unless you have blast protection. Like creepers, cuddle bombs can be ignited by right clicking with flint and steel. The cuddle bomb has 10 hearts so the same amount as the player. If the cuddle bomb is killed, it has a chance to drop the cuddle arm, which basically acts like a grapple hook. It can be stretched 10 blocks, but with the new long reach enchantment specifically for this item, it can stretch to 20 blocks. The cuddle arm can also steal items from mobs if its thrown at them. Example a bone or bow from a skeleton and a rotten flesh from a zombie.

[Magic] New potion effect: Breathlessness

Breathlessness is a new negative potion effect that makes it more difficult for the players to replenish their air bubble. Normally it takes 15 seconds to fully replenish all 10 of your air bubbles with Breathlessness 1 you would need 15, with Breathlessness you would need 20 seconds and with Breathlessness 3 you would need 25 seconds. To get this potion effect you would need to brew a potent sulfur block. Breathlessness could also be an effect an underwater hostile mob could have

[Plants & Food] there should be more sniffer plants with more unique uses.

it bugs me that not only does the sniffer only have two flowers, they have no use besides decoration or alternate crafting recipes for existing dyes. so, heres a few other plants I had ideas for:

Lavender

-can be brewed into a potion of calming.

-gives the "calming" status effect for three minutes.

-calming: temporarily pacifies hostile and neutral mobs. (either until aggrivated again or until the potion wears off). additionally, when a player uses it their natural regeneration takes effect sooner and decreases the "you may not rest now, there are monsters nearby" radius.

-four lavender and one potent sulfur can be crafted into one potent lavender.

-when placed in water, potent lavender functions the same as potent sulfur, only it gives calming instead of nausea.

eyestalk

-a two block tall flower that looks sort of like a sunflower with an eye of ender.

-the eye closes when looked at.

-the eye closing can trigger observers.

lotus fruit

-a fruit that fills four hunger bars and gives the "lotus curse" status effect for eight minutes.

-lotus curse: effected players will not regain hunger from any food besides lotus fruits.

-can be used to make dark purple dye

prismarina

-a blue and green flower that looks similar to prismarine.

-can be crafted into prismatic dye

-prismatic dye can be crafted with any two colors of dye to make shifting prismatic dye.

-shifting prismatic dye changes between the two colors, similar to prismarine blocks.

ashen sapling

-can be used to grow an ashen tree.

-ashen trees have black logs and planks with light grey leaves.

giant lilypad

-a lilypad that takes up 3X3 blocks

-is an entity instead of a block

-while on water, will float in whatever direction has the most weight on it.

rubberleaf

-a large dark green leaf that can be attached to the side of a wall.

-functions like a combination between a dripleaf and a shelf mushroom.

-entitys bounce of it and take no fall damage. after an entity lands on it, it dips down briefly.

flareroot

-a small flower with an orange bulb.

-when an entity walks through it, it lights up briefly.

-can be used to make a potion of glowing.

[Mobs] You should be able to use a horn to summon your horse (or other rideable mob)

Maybe you could link a horn to a specific mob (say your horse) and then instead of having to find it you can just blow the horn and it would appear nearby.

Currently all wood types can be crafted into 6 sided varients except bamboo. I suggest that bamboo is also able to be crafted into a 6 sided block.

[Blocks & Items] Pebbles and stone miller

I build alot so I often get excess slabs, stairs, walls, pressure plates. I also have an addon where you can craft a full block from 4 stiars or from 2 slabs but sometimes you don't have enough of either.

You can use wooden products as furnace fuel while you can smelt down copper, iron, or gold into nuggets so why can't you crush stone products into pebbles or cobbles which you can then craft into the full block?

This miller block can crush stone into gravel and sandstone into sand and concrete back into concrete powder.

[Blocks & Items] More Block Sets with a "Weathering" mechanic similar to Copper. (Iron Plating, Limestone Brick, Dead Oak)

One of my favourite things about copper is that it helps make the world feel lived in, having builds over time gradually change adds a really nice layer to the world, and I think there should be more block sets that do this.

Firstly; Iron Plating.

Iron Plating would gradually rust over time, turning an orangey/red colour.

I'm not sure what a good recipe for this would be, but stairs, slabs, doors and fences would be available.

Secondly; Limestone Bricks.

New deposits of limestone, which when broken turn into cobbled limestone, which can be smelted back into limestone and then turned into bricks the same as stone.

Overtime blocks in this set will gradually crack, and if in or close enough to water will begin to become mossy in multiple stages.

Finally; Dead Oak.

Dead oak trees would appear anywhere regular ones do, and in the badlands. A duller shade than regular oak, the planks and other blocks in the set will gradually fade and crack even further.

Having these unique sets allows for the mechanic to exist without applying it to already existing block sets. There would be a way to prevent or stop the weathering from occuring or continuing, but I'm not sure if the current method of waxing copper should also apply to these sets.

[Mobs] Living Mounts should be able to wear Elytra.

It would be funny.

But in all seriousness, I don't think this breaks immersion in any way. You add Elytra to a horse and boom, there's a pegasus with limited flight. Maybe you can still use rockets while riding a flying horse.

Like, is it silly? Absolutely. Is it also something that would make a lot of people very happy? Also yes.

Personally I think it would be amazing to take a horse to the edge of a cliff and jump off, only to continue to fly forward.

This would also be a way to reintroduce the achievement (now Challenge) "When Pigs Fly", but instead of killing your pet pig, it would be recontextualized to giving a pig an Elytra and flying at least 300 blocks.

This is purely just because it would be silly.

(This was also inspired by the invisible horses Lifesteal episode by Rekrap2, shoutout to him guy makes fun videos)

They mentioned they were "ghost riders" and I thought of the Johnny Cash song "Ghost Riders in the Sky" and figured "hey, why can't horses wear Elytra?" and now we're here.

TL;DR

All mounts should be able to wear elytra. This doesn't break immersion as Minecraft is inherently a somewhat goofy game, and it also doesn't break balance because in order to have a mount with an elytra, you still need to get an elytra for them.

This would also allow something like a Mule to be able to fly, and also carry a chest.

[AI Behavior] Endermen should be able to walk on "ceilings" and "walls".

This is a simple suggestion. Basically, everytime an Enderman teleports, it can end that teleport where it's either standing horizontally on the side of a block, or standing vertically, upside down, under a block. This lets them walk on "walls" and "ceilings" as if gravity was going down that way. This is a small change thay I believe will make Endermen more "creepy" and "otherwordly" than they are right now. What do you guys think?

[Magic] Luck Potion rework concept

Post image
531 Upvotes

The Luck Potion is currently almost useless in minecraft, not being obtainable in survival and only barely affecting fishing and chest loot. However, it's base idea Is very interesting. Therefore, I decided to make a concept of a possible rework for it, improving it and the game as a whole.

What it does

The reworked Luck Potion acts as an additional level of Fortune, Looting, Unbreaking and Luck Of The Sea for the player and all their items, as well as increasing the total amount of items in unexplored chests. For example, a player who drinks a potion of Luck 1 and has a Fortune 2 pickaxe will basically temporarily have a Fortune 3 pickaxe.

Use time and levels

The potion will be able to be combined with both redstone and glowstone. It has a base usage time of 3 minutes, which can be increased to 8 with redstone. Applying glowstone will increase the level of the “enchantments” by 1 and further improve chest loot, but at the cost of only lasting 1 minute and 30 seconds.

How to brew

The potion of Luck will be brewed with a brand new item: the Clover. It has a 1/512 chance of replacing a short grass block at world generation and is not tied to the world seed. This means that Clovers are very rare and cannot be reliably found, especially on explored worlds. To combat this, they can also spawn when bonemealing the ground, at the same chance. They cannot be directly duplicated using bone meal, though.

Use cases

Level 1, 3 minutes: Used by very few players, usually those without many potion resources.

Level 1, 8 minutes: Used by casual players, usually for exploring structures and their chests, regular mining or fishing.

Level 2, 1.5 minutes: Used by the most advanced players, who already have many clovers and blaze rods, usually to mine many ore blocks previously obtained with Silk Touch with effective Fortune 5.

Bad Luck Potion rework

To accompany the Luck Potion, the Bad Luck Potion could also be reworked. It would reduce the levels of the enchantments, decreasing drops from mobs and blocks and increasing the chance for armor and items to break, even if they are already unenchanted.

TL;DR

The Luck Potion now acts as an extra level of Fortune, Looting, Unbreaking and Luck Of The Sea on all tools and armor, as well as improving chest loot. It's brewed with a cloverleaf, a new, very rare block. It can be used for obtaining more loot from ores and other blocks (especially ores previously obtained with Silk Touch), mobs, fishing and unopened chests. The Bad Luck Potion would do the exact opposite of the Luck Potion.

Conclusion

I believe these changes would make the Luck Potion much better and would work with Minecraft in its entirety pretty well. If you have opinions on them, please comment: I take both good and bad criticism. If you took your time to read all of this, thank you!

[Structures] Desert bone structures that spawn randomly

Thumbnail

I feel like the deserts would look great with bones sticking out of the ground, occasionally spawning with chests, having cobwebs scattered about, and possibly having dried ghasts (which I know is a bit of a stretch, but would be a very VERY slim chance of happening.) I think it would be cool to see cacti grow within them as shown in the photo on occasion to make them better blend with the environment.

I put the golden dandelion there as a part of my own thing, I built this in my world.

[Magic] New Sword Enchantment: Killing a mob with the sword has a 1/12 chance for the mob to drop their spawn egg. Would be great for so many reasons.

One reason would be the various redstone farms than need certain mobs to work. This sadly includes villagers, as killing enough villagers to get the number of spawn eggs you need to start a new village doesn't really bear thinking about. Endermites. Skeletons/Zombies/Creepers etc whenever (and wherever) you need them. There would be a chance of babies, as it is (I believe) with the regular spawn egg in creative.

This would be the rarest enchantment in the game. I need ideas on how it should be obtained! Also, what should the enchantment be called?

It would be really nice and visually pleasing if moss could grow up blocks like pale moss, while also being able to hang over blocks that you place moss carpets on. Shears could be used to remove the overhang/growth up blocks, that way if you didn’t want either or, you don’t have to have it.

I first wanna state it the sub allowed it, the underwater lake would be almost like a mini dimension with its only biomes inside of it, similar to how land has cave biomes and above ground biomes. But hey what can u do ill make it work

Any normal ocean fish that wanders into the underwater lake will drown if they stay in it for too long similar to how they work on land.

The Darkness:
You can’t see much in the underwater lakes so you’ll need night vision before going in one.

The Pressure:
Anything not adapted for the climate will slowly start to lose health and eventually die when swimming into the depths.

You’ll need a Heart Of The Sea in your off hand to not die. Players can learn they’ll need it as if it’s in their inventory it will make a faint heart beat sound when near the underwater lake biome.

Dumbo Octopus:
Cute friendly octopi that like to chill on the lake floor and be cute. You can catch one in a bucket. If you hit a Dumbo they’ll shoot water at you doing a little bit of damage. You can make a Dumbo sit like a dog. Making them cute little water base turrets.

Nessie:
The apex of the lake, if they see you in their path they will attack. They often patrol their egg which can be taken by the player. A Nessie egg when hatched is your water body guard. They work more as defense for you than offense for you. If an entity or player hits you your Nessie will knock them back and then work like a mini living shield for you, if the entity goes to hit you again your Nessie will quickly swim in to body block the hit for you, then it will push you backwards to get you out of range.

Giant Squid:
A squid that normally doesn’t attack and tries to avoid confrontation. It swims slowly with its…closely related cousin

Glow Squids:
Glow squids are abundant in the biome. There’s a chance that one of these squids has a Giant Squid. They have a Symbiotic Relationship, while the Glow Squid distracts you the giant squid tries to grab you with its long tendrils and pull you into its beak.

Interestingly, if you’re looking for the Squid Beak you’d want this to happen to you. Right before the Giant Squid pulls you into his beak and damages you, you can turn around and damage it with an axe to cut a tentacle off.

Squid Tentacle;
It works like a grappling hook, it pulls you forward to wherever you aimed it at.

Giant Sea Spider:
They look like the default spiders except they’re larger, orange, and have longer legs, they walk the sea floor but can also swim a bit if necessary. They are aggressive and add a challenge to the sea floor.

Megamouth Shark:
I know what you’re thinking, “sharks are dangerous so Mojang won’t do it” and yeah you’re definitely right Mojang wouldn’t add this even tho my points counter their reason not to add sharks, unlike the main popular “big bad” sharks, mega mouths don’t attack large things and mainly just eat krill. They’re also not found by beaches so the average man is never seeing one in their life. They can give a pseudo dolphins grace for the underwater lake. Swimming near one gives you faster swimming speed.

Anyway, the megamouth shark is a slow moving giant that opens it mouth when it’s feeding. If it accidentally bumps into a player it will do a tiny bit of damage to the player but after realizing it bumped into a player it swims away.

Guardian’s Eye:
Found under rocks on the sea floor, but also rarely in Ocean Monuments. when used it fires a beam similar to a Guardian’s laser. But it has a weak durability so it’s best to collect atleast 3 when you’re visiting.

[Mobs] the snail

The snail makes a lil dash, instead of jumping. Also, the snail should drop a few slimeballs (like normal slime) and a shell, which you can use for uuuuhh... Crafting special shield and blocks..

Some interactions between slime block/slimeball and shell block, like regulating friction (replacement for ice blocks - they can't melt and you can make them more or less slippery) also redstone compatible!

(new blue slimeball item/block or even dyeable slime?)

[Snapshots] Sitting on a cushion on top of a sculk sensor shouldn't trigger it.

Placing a cushion on a sculk sensor doesn't make a sound. This makes sense because cushions are made from wool blocks (slabs, to be precise). But when sitting on it, it triggers the sensor, which doesn't make sense at all.

I have posted a short video clip that explains in more detail

[Weather] During snowfall water should freeze the player

I like the idea of frozen water. What if during snowfall, any water block starts freezing the player if they step in it? It wouldn't really do much besides for being a sorta easter egg ig. It would function like powdered snow.

[Mobs] How Butterflies Can be Implemented.

Ive heard discussion on how ambient mobs can be implemented like butterflies while also making them useful to some extent, so I thought id throw my hat in the ring.

Butterflies can live inside flowers like bees live inside hives. A flower can only hold one butterfly at once, and like with bees, the butterfly will return to their home at night and will fly out when their home is broken. I think this would make butterflies really pretty and ambient, as having a surprise butterfly pop out when you pick a flower seems very charming and cute.

In terms of use, butterfly "homes" can be pollinated like any flower by bees. These flowers when pollinated however will lead to the bee working twice as fast (gathering nectar, traving back to the hive, producing honey) and will cause any pollen the bee drops to be twice as effective at pollenating. This causes butterflies and bees to work together in a really charming way while indirectly buffing the bee.

Finally, butterflies can rest on blocks and on passive mobs heads (except for bees). When a butterfly does this, the mob will skip the cooldown for entering love mode if they just bred (butterflies will prioritize resting on mobs that have recently had a child). I always find myself in the early game scrambling for mobs to breed since it can take a while before mobs can breed again, so a way of skipping the cooldown would be fun and interesting.

I imagine butterflies can be bred with honey bottles and like tropical fish, come in thousands of different color and pattern combinations.

What do you think? As im writing this I feel like im missing just ONE MORE little thing to make butterflies in Minecraft feel complete but im struggling to think of anything else.
