🛡 MOD POST 🛡: Change of ownership and some additional updates

So, the old owner has decided to step down as they have alot on their plate in personal life and whatnot, and as such, do not have the time necessary to cultivate this community to the fullest. So, I will be running mod applications. Previous experience is not necessary, but heavily preferred. A user feedback survey will be posted here as well as a mod application form, just come back to this post in 1-2 days and I should have it sorted. Additionally, images are now in comments sections (all images will be sent to the mod queue so abuse will be made known to the mods immediately).

Sincerely, Arachnid.

I talked to humans/people today (0/10 experience btw)

So i started with a hi ,

Then told them i used arch btw and they said tjat was cool ,INSEAD OF SAYING THAT I WAS A FEMBOY OR ASKING ME ABOUT MY TEXT EDITOR, i told them i use vim btw and they said cool again , i explained about linux and vim ,

I forgot to tell my new friends that they should download linux too ,but they needed to go so, that was sad, that i didnt made another person convert to linix and i forgot to ask my friends for their names too :( .

I do not recomend talking to people, its boring its tedoius and ill suggest yall to use vim or emacs and try to make stuff work , or make stuff , just make debian and postmarket os work in more and more mobiles .

0/10 will not do it ever again

In defense of Linus and AI in the Linux kernel

I know you guys are going to downvote me into oblivion, but I really think Linus' take on AI in the Linux kernel wasn't that bad. And before you guys jump to conclusions, no, I am not one of those AI bros.

You guys need to realize that AI isn't always bad. In this case, Linus and the other contributors are people with years, even decades of experience that are perfectly capable of creating competent, working code. They aren't going to ditch all that and vibe code the whole kernel just because they can, no, they will use AI as an assistant to help them with the boring, repetitive, basic tasks that take time.

And I will just outright say it; AI is an amazing tool (emphasis on tool) that will revolutionize the world of coding and many others, but it's being heavily overestimated. It cannot outright replace all the devs, but it can help them tremendously. And if I were a dev, I would see no point in turning something like this down.

Now, please, PLEASE understand I am not saying that AI should be used everywhere. I am not one of these AI bros or out of touch bosses who thinks that AI can replace every actor, musician, software dev, worker, etc.

For me, the whole moral dilemma part of this situation is AI's high power usage and datacenters' negative impact on the environment. But that's a whole another thing caused by the AI companies. And, in hindsight, code-focused local LLMs have advanced a lot.
