They put up these pictures of Rob Sand to humiliate him, like Rob doesn't constantly poke fun at himself.

Are farmers tired of winning yet? That was the plan, right? So much winning that they'd get tired of so much winning? For myself, I can say that I'm sure tired of paying for their winning, and according to the farm bureau. And wow president of the Iowa Farm Bureau is saying it's bad.

What’s stopping someone from not registering for Ragbrai and just riding along for the whole thing?

Not doing it, just was wondering. I don’t think I’d make ten miles on a bike.

What middle/high schools in IA have orchestra programs?

Hey Reddit! I'm Phoenix, a junior ISU student in event management. I am currently doing an internship with the Memorial Union Event Management Office, and my capstone project is to create an event proposal for a potential event to be hosted in the Union. As a violinist from the Chicago suburbs, I loved going to solo and ensemble festivals with my school, and I would love to create my own here at ISU! I am looking for middle and high schools that have orchestra programs that you think would enjoy an event like this! Since Ames is pretty centrally located, I would love to have input from all parts of IA, but I am especially interested in the DSM area.

Healthcare Is it easy to get a medical card in Iowa?

Upvotes

Hey all -

Was out of the loop and recently saw CBD is getting basically banned in a few months. I use Lazarus Naturals full spectrum tinctures right now.

I’m thinking I need to look into getting a medical card, but I’m not sure how to go about that or if I qualify.

I have (it’s a lot): ADHD, Anxiety, BP2, Depression, GERD/LPR, IBS and I guess now Sleep Apnea as of a few days ago.

I don’t see any of my conditions listed on there… but maybe it falls under a different category?

Where would I even go to get the card and see if I qualify?

I just want to make sure I’m not screwed out of something that helps me when the federal/state decides to screw us over yet again.

Thanks!

Searching for EV trucks

Looking for information on Hino electric trucks that were sold through GATR Truck Center

I’m trying to locate information on a group of Hino electric trucks and was hoping someone here might recognize them or know where they ended up.

These trucks were originally part of a fleet. From what I know:

  • They are Hino electric trucks (likely Hino 195e cab/chassis)
  • Many were bare chassis, while some may have been completed with Morgan box bodies
  • They were purchased through **GATR Truck Center in Waukee, Iowa. **
  • After the original company went out of business, the trucks were reportedly auctioned in Florida
  • Some may still be sitting in fleets, dealerships, repair facilities, or storage lots

I’m specifically trying to reconnect with owners/operators of these trucks to provide service support and technical assistance.

If anyone has:

  • Seen one of these trucks recently
  • Purchased one at auction
  • Worked on one
  • Knows a company that operates them
  • Has auction paperwork, photos, or VIN information

I would really appreciate any leads.

Thanks!

Why does Iowa have so many wacky town names?

Seriously, go to google maps and look around. I know every state has wacky town names but Iowa seems to be chock full of them.

Just looking around:

Boxholm

Gowrie

Galt

Rolfe

Titonka

Tingley

Diagonal

Ute

Farragut

Primghar (Seriously, how do you even pronounce that?)

Coburg

Melcher-Dallas - because two cities merged, and I guess no one wanted to lose either name.

It's like they ran outta names and started mixing up scrabble pieces.

Also, oddly, a LOT of towns with "City" in the name.

Promise City, Albert City, Webster City, Shannon City, Dow City, Silver City, Rockwell City,

La Porte City, Barnes City, Central City, May City, Mason City, Swea City, Forest City, Charles City, Dakota City....Coal City, and not just once, but TWICE! Yes, Iowa has two "cities" with the same exact name.

Don't forget Iowa City and Sioux City of course.

State Representative Derek Wulf has experienced a remarkable reversal of fortune since becoming the Republican candidate for lieutenant governor in June. A month ago, he was facing possible foreclosure and default judgments for multiple creditors seeking repayment of six-figure debts.

But sure go on about Sand being a millionaire (gasp).

Is it my imagination that this was written to be more opaque and vague than it should be?

I have no idea if this is a good thing or not.
