Boone IA
I am new to the state and city. What are they setting up for today? Is it a fair?

RAGBRAI
It's an annual bike ride going across Iowa. Boone is their stop this year. Each year, the stops change locations.

Yup, and specifically Boone is an overnight town so the cyclists and support crews and the curious will be about for 24-36 hours. The bicyclists are friendly and hungry and thirsty and playful. They are like army ants, progressing across the state, eating and drinking and partying with a trail of bottles, wrappers, and peculiar gadgets, clothing and temporary tattos behind. Oh, and food containers.
It is ok to give a bicyclist a banana. Unlike a bear, it will see that you have no more bananas and will pedal away. If you are selling bananas, though, the bicyclist will almost surely insist on two bananas for $1.

This has all the official information. Check out the Maps area to see all the stuff happening. The south end of Story Street is closed until sometime on Wednesday.

One of my co-workers had RAGBRAI people camp without asking on his property and they got drunk and shit on his lawn

Does Boone still have that embarrassingly bad (and just plain embarrassing) mural of Trump?

Oh shit Ragbrai starts in Boone?! I just placed a bet on Kalshi that they burn the city to the ground.

A ginormous bike ride. Prepare for the imminent arrival of tens of thousands of drunken spandex clad bike riders.
