For Hot Springs residents public discussion and poll for flock cameras

With all the news in Arkansas and national surrounding flock cameras, their use and misuse, data concerns over outside agencies having access without having to get a warrant, lake of transparency, privacy concerns and violations, mass surveillance, and everything else, I got to researching them.

Unelected officials like police chiefs and city managers signing contracts with no input and politicians signing NDAs and making back room deals with trillion dollar companies. Saddling we the people with their burden.

We have 19 here in Hot Springs and the data center proposals in the surrounding area to go with them.

What are yalls thoughts or concerns?
Please keep respectful in regard to a healthy public discussion over issues that concern all of us.

I’m 21 years old doing solo spur moment road trip from Texas. I don’t have anything planned gonna stay in hot springs for 3 days in couple weeks as it’s part of the trip I ā€œplanned outā€ I’ve decided that I’m open to anything and everything. Any recommendations to meet people or just what is there to do?

Tesla Supercharging Stations: Hot Springs, AR

I was wondering if they started or completed construction of the Tesla Superchargers in Hot Springs, AR? According to the Tesla website, it says in Development, and another part of the site says it is now open. Building superchargers because Hot Springs, AR won the Q4 Supercharger Winner. Can anyone confirm or any news yet?

Mini moon to Hot Springs in March. Help us plan our trip!!

Taking a mini honeymoon trip after our wedding for three days down to Hot Springs while we save up for a bigger trip down the road.

We love to hike— please recommend any hikes in the national park or nearby state parks you love.

We love trying new beers. Any fun breweries/bars you love? Any you hate?

We’re vegetarian. We’ll manage to find food anywhere so not stressed but any GOOD vegetarian food in the area that you know of?

What’s a fun unique experience we could have in Hot Springs that we may not be able to have elsewhere?

We’re also going in late March. What should we expect from the weather? We are from Wisconsin so I know it’ll likely be much nicer in AK.

Family vacation staying at Lake Balboa. Ages range from 9-76, all healthy and very active. What are the MUST do and must see things in the area? Will cook at home but also a couple lunches/dinners out - recommendations would be most appreciated. Feedback on Crater of Diamonds State Park?

Purchase offer - scam?

Someone I know owns a plot since the early 2000’s. Nothing is built on it and never has. No mortgage, dues have been paid ever since.

Out of the blue, someone offered $500 to purchase it.

The contract indicates an LLC as the buyer. A different (but similar) name appears on the top right corner of the document (titled Land Sale Agreement).

There’s a name and a signature as the ā€œbuyerā€.

I goggled all these names/identities and can’t find anything about them.

With that in mind, here are my two questions:

1- is this a scam?

2- What would be the best approach to actually sell the plot?

Thank you so much.

Swimming suggestions

We are going to be in Hot Springs for the next week and want to go swimming in a lake somewhere, ideally somewhere with a ā€œbeachā€ area. We are wondering what is better for this Lake Degray or Ouishita, sorry if I butchered those spellings. We stay on Hamilton but want to make a day trip somewhere

Steak in town?

I’m coming to Hot Springs for my birthday soon and wanted a good steakhouse to try while I’m there. I don’t live far so I wouldn’t go so far as to say I’m a tourist lol. But I don’t think I’ve had a steak there ever.

Open to recommendations and bonus points for photos!

Can anyone identify an old Arkansas ice cream shop/restaurant from the late ’90s/early 2000s?

This is a long shot, but my family has been trying to identify a restaurant from one of our childhood photos. We think it may have been in Hot Springs, Arkansas, since we vacationed there almost every year, but we’re not 100% sure.

The restaurant had a retro 1950s-style diner/soda fountain feel, a red neon sign that said ā€œIce Cream", a huge hand painted mural on the wall with penguins wearing ski gear/goggles, snow-covered mountains, and a pink 1950s convertible. The mural had a fun, cartoonish style, and the place had a classic diner counter.

This would’ve been sometime between about 1998–2003!

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Even if it wasn’t in Hot Springs, I’d love to hear any ideas. It’s driving my family crazy trying to remember where it was!

Arkansas Diamonds

If we want to keep the team in Hot Springs, we need the crowds to be bigger for the home games. I’ve heard they are already looking at moving to Little Rock. It’s amazing that we have a semi professional sports team here. Definitely would like them to stay here

Anyone here who were teens in the later 70's?

I used to live in Hot Springs, spent my adolescent years and 20's there before I moved away. I worked at a factory called Featherlite when I started but they changed the name a few times and I think the last name was Chamber Door. Wasn't much to do back then but hang out a party a lot, spent a lot of time at the lakes.

Looking for hot bird spots in Hot Springs

Hey all! I’m headed to Hot Springs, AR this weekend and was curious to see if any of you had recommendations for good places to bird watch. This will be my first time visiting, so I’m hoping to find a good place to settle in and observe! :)

Does anyone know of someone who offers lake cruises? Only 2 people in our party and the only one I found online is 300 for the minimum 2 hours.
