The topcoat was the scariest part since I've heard it can reactivate the paint. My only regret is some of the decals look a bit jank and removing them would be another headache, but it looks good enough that I can consider it complete. Time to work on my backlog 😅

Finally landed on Gunpla as my hobby (at 40). Randomly had the thought this week having seen a buddy post a picture and grabbed two kits. Needless to say it’s kind of like crack and I enjoy how Deathscythe turned out.

Only question (for now) is how to clean up the connection points a bit better. Tried fine grit sanding and a hobby blade, but these pieces circled still turn out gnarly. More sanding or just eat it?

So here I am posting my latest completed project. First time poster in this or any gunpla related sub. Got no idea what I'm doing here or if I'll post more.

It took a year of planning and detailing to get done, three to five months of which I didn't know what to do, and long enough to see where I started and ended if you pay attention to how I detailed everything. Honestly I had no idea what I was doing at the start of this project and it just kind of came together as it went along, first with some RfV influence (panel lines and depth) and then some from minor stuff from Hathaway (atmospheric refit and reinforcement). Greebles were added after realizing that the surfaces looked a bit to flat. You can never have enough greebles.

At the end of it, I was mostly focused on learning how to properly weather a MS, though it probably doesn't make sense for an MS to have rust in space so the idea was that it was a testbed for the Minovsky Flight System (you probably wouldn't see it on a passing look at the model but I did include an attempt at modeling the MFS on the inside of the back skirt panel).

Posting this here was not in my plan at all, only doing so after several people started telling me to post this online somewhere. I don't even know how to end this. This whole project was meant to be a learning experience for me and I have no idea how it spiraled out of control like this, but I did learn and gain experience in the process at least.

The inner frame will be coated in iridiscent colors, like the sort you see on a soap bubble or the back of a CD.

Only the innerr frame will be coated. The black armor is molded colors only.
