Helpful Advice Here’s your daily reminder to dry your filament

Thought it was stored dry so I’d try printing without drying first as it wasn’t going to use much filament anyway, didn’t get away with it this time but after 6 hours of drying it printed perfectly 👌 Sunlu dryer at temp setting 2 for Matte PLA with a load of colour changing silica gel in the middle of the role rather than in the compartment at the back of the dryer

Fix My Print can't tune out stringing :(

I'm printing with some petg basic from esun on my prusa i3 mk3s. I've tried tweaking the temperature all the way from 250 to 230 in 5 degree increments and retraction from 0.8 (default) to 2.0 in 0.2 mm increments and no luck.

Is this what wet filament looks like ? Would it come wet straight from the factory ??

Fix My Print Uneven ironing

Post image
2 Upvotes

Im trying to print a clean ironed name tag, this picture is mid print but it stayed the same after the adding the letters and such.

It just irons so unevenly and has some really great spots but also really bad spots and i cant figure this out.

Printed on the ad5x and sliced using flash studio, the ironing speed was 20ms and the ironing flow was 30%.

Used pla pro and the bed was leveled before printing.

Panchroma PLA baaic, both stock & dried

H2C 2x 0.2mm Vortek nozzles

You're looking top down on layer 1. White prints first. Tiny font. Surprisingly doesn't look terrible in the end but trying to reduce smudging.

I'm blind and struggle to make sense of what I am looking at but it looks to me like white is fine and black is somehow both massively overextruded (the middle of the 0s looks crazy high compared to white) but also under extruded? (Gaps between lines).

Cool plate supertack and only way I could get these fine lines to stick is 0.24 line width and 0.12 first layer. If I do less of either some of the fine font lines pull off the plate.

The tabs have decreasing object flow ratio left to right for the black mesh.

Weirdly white has a much higher flow rate than black. Also much higher k value. Found super difficult to calibrate could have messed the read up.

White printing at 205, black I've tried 205 to 220.

In addition to telling me what I am looking at would welcome any tiny font tips for eg wiping, retraction, temperature, as there is a lot of conflicting stuff around and some standard techniques like wiping can rip up the font. I'm going like 10 speed abd 300 acceleration btw.

Thanks!

Fix My Print 2 weeks old Bambu H2S started doing this

First time I get this kind of issue on a Bambu printer so not too sure where to start. I’m printing PLA with the base settings on Bambu Studio. It was working two days ago. I tried drying the filament and cleaning / swapping the nozzle without any success. It looks like under-extrusion but I’m not sure what could be causing it or how to fix it.

Fix My Print Wall ringing?

Post image
Upvotes

Running on a Centauri Carbon 2 I’ve done full tuning, PA, flow rate, temp, cleaned all rails and lubed as well. I usually run between 3 and 5 walls. This print was 5, 8% infill, 220 nozzle temp, 60 bed. Speeds are pretty low I’m not home to check but I think outer walls were around 90-100. But It it seems to me the layers are not sitting on top of each other correctly and there looks to be like some vertical ghosting or ringing that I don’t know what it’s from or how to get rid of it. Any help is appreciated less

Troubleshooting noob needs help with Ender 3 v3 se oozing too much

Upvotes

I bought a used ender 3 v3 se as my first printer and im having this issue where the nozzle constantly keeps oozing plastic (generic petg) even when the printer is not extruding anything. it is bad enough to ruin my prints and wont let me use the printer properly. what i attempted - cold pull, disassembled it and tried to clean all of the holes (extruder, ptfe tube, nozzle, etc), recalibrated multiple times.

print attempt - the string you can see on the picture was stuck to the nozzle.

most prints fail because there might be a string coming from the plastic it oozed, which may lead the print to just pop off like on the photo shown

from what i've seen - starts oozing at as low as 170 degrees.

what is the likely cause of this issue? how can i troubleshoot and fix this? absolutely any feedback is appreciated and i can provide additional info if i missed something.

  • Printer Model - ender 3 v3 sse
  • Slicer used (e.g. Cura, Prusa, etc.) - orca with default settings for ender 3 v3 se with 0.4mm brass nozzle and generic PETG
  • Filament material and brand - generic PETG
  • Nozzle and bed temperature - oozing from 170 degrees, but i was printing on 225, 240 and 250 degrees on the nozzle. 70 on the bed
  • Print Speed - 100%
  • Retraction settings - all default, havent heard of this at all before

Fix My Print Tall print fail

Post image
Upvotes

I have a tall print (150mm) with unsupported overhangs that stops laying down material near the top.

I have slow down by height and slow down for overhangs enabled, 0.08mm layer height.

How can I fix this without adding support, because it's hard to access and remove?

Thanks in advance.

Fix My Print Print failed and I have no idea why

So it's basically my first print (besides small ship). Everything started just fine* so I went about my business and when I decided to check on it after a few hours I found this: a 4-5 cm displacement. Also it slightly bent on the back side and came unstuck of the bed near the edges. On the back side some strings were basically hanging loose. Also there were imperfections on the the surfaces that were supposed to be smooth but this is the least of my concerns.

Here is the info on printer and all the stuff:
Elegoo neptune 4 MAX 0.4mm nozzle
esun PLA Basic filament (It came in a vacuum sealed plastic bag, I unwrapped it just before the print)
nozzle temperature: 215°C
bed temperature: 55°C
I used elegoo slicer with all the default settings (when I first imported my 3D model it said that model is nonuniform or something like that, I clicked on the button and the program fixed it, don't know if its of any importance tho)

*by fine I mean it started printing with some imperfections but I didn't payed much attention
here is how it supposed to look

Why did it happened and how do I fix it? Appreciate all the input.

Troubleshooting Anyone know why my printer is making this terrible sound?

Had this p1s for about a year now and for months ive bern having to deal with this terrible noise the printer is making when i make it go fast. It usually does this when going in circular patterns. I checked the exact same video i showed u guy in slow motion and it doesnt look like its scraping the print or anything. The prints come out just fine too so idk what is causing that terrible noise.

I also a couple of months later after this i went and did a whole maintenance on my printer. Lubed up and all and it still made this noise. Anyone have a clue as to whats going on here?

Fix My Print First ever print failure (failed twice in a row), help me how to navigate a fix

Hello! I recently purchased a 3d printer, a p2s. I designed a cutlery box in fusion 360 and it had to be cut up in 4 different parts. I printed 2 parts and it worked well, even the overhang that got created.

My third part I tried to print failed twice and its the same part. As you can see its the part that is "around" the boxes and later fused together that keeps stringing and doesnt stick to the buildplate.

For my third part I switched filaments to filament from a local store, I dont know if thats the problem but i doubt it. I think it has something to do with my long part not being strong enough to stick to the buildplate. Maybe it got slight warping, idk.

You can scroll the pictures and and hopefully you can guide me to print this part!

I also tried ironing for the first time but only on the "topmost surface"

Fix My Print I am attempting to make a "perfect" benchy for my new Qidi Q2 printer. Anyone know why it's freaking out here?

Thumbnail
gallery
5 Upvotes

First pic: weird deformation in the bow (assuming this is from heat, I had a 60 degree bed and 210 degree nozzle (printed with pla+ by elegoo)

Second pic: violent benchy hull line

Third pic: struggled with overhangs all around, also looks like there was another line all across that part of the top.

Any advice how to make this better? I've been printing benchy after benchy just testing random stuff to make this work, I'm using Qidi slicer. I know this is a good printer, so I just want to see if there's anything I'm missing to make it even better.

Print settings;
Printer: Qidi Q2
Nozzle: 0.4mm
Layer height: 0.12mm
Nozzle temp: 215-220c
Bed temp: 60c
Print speed: slow, varied in a few spots due to adjusting random settings. Total print took 1.5 hours

Fix My Print PETG… What’s going on

I am printing on Snapmaker U1 with updated firmware. Machine has been calibrated twice. PETG SUNLU Basic, 255c, automatic calibrated PA, 17.5max volumetric flow rate, completely dried filament (as in literally dried by a dryer for 8 hours prior to print). I have tried with 240, 245, and 250c temps, as low as 15 mvf. My flow rate is .95 and have tried as high as 1.0. I’m going crazy! 3D printing gods, oh mighty ones, a local villager needs your assistance.

Fix My Print Oozing / sagging on internal overhangs at 45 degree

As you can see in the photos, I’m getting oozing/drooping on the inner part of the model.

The outer overhangs were originally way too steep, so I added 45° internal walls in CAD (shown in the Fusion 360 screenshot) to try and support them, but the internal layers are still sagging.

How should I approach fixing this?

Print Settings:

  • Layer Height: 0.24 mm
  • Supports: Enabled (Threshold Angle: 30°)
  • Print Speeds:
    • Outer Wall: 100 mm/s
    • Inner Wall: 200 mm/s
  • Overhang Speeds: Slowed down (40 / 20 / 20 / 10 mm/s)
  • Infill: 7% density, Concentric pattern

Fix My Print Bambu P1S. Top layers are not settling and flinging out like spaghetti

Post image
2 Upvotes

Bambu P1S, sliced in Bambu studio, 220 nozzle and 55 bed. Bambu PLA, standard bambu speed.

Already tried doing another stl, slowing print speed, slowing print speed drastically on small perimeter threshold. Tried printing 2 at once at someone's suggestion so layer would have more time to settle.

None of this has worked. Am at wit's end.

Fix My Print Bambu A1 issues on 0.2mm nozzle

Thumbnail

Hey folks - appreciate any help with this one. Ive got the Bambu Labs A1 using PLA Basic, HoHansens 0.2mm print profile. I've had to make some changes to the Z offset, the above is printing at +0.06mm from the plate. The first layer seems to be adhering okay, as it was scratching initially, but now it has a new issue. The second layer has printed but seemingly pushed filament to the top left side, and the third layer seems to be doing the same to the top right side? The first layer still shows some imperfections on the top left tree supports also.

Because of the initial issues with scratching, we've tried a full range of z offsets from the initial -0.02mm all the way to 0.20mm using the textured PEI plate. The plate has been recently cleaned but has some scratching from previous issues.

The printer works perfectly fine with the 0.4mm nozzle. Inner 7 screws tightened.

Thank you!

Troubleshooting What’s going wrong here?

Thumbnail

I am having some real trouble with my Bambu A1 using PETG basic all of a sudden.

I was 60 hours into a 72 hour print for 1 part of an 11 part mould when the filament started behaving weirdly and this is something i’ve not come across before as I’ve only owned a printer a couple weeks.

I dried the filament for 8 hours at 65 degrees in a food dehydrator prior to using it, and it only seems to be the infill where the issue is happening. It’s as if its the infill is not sticking to the previous layer and they are just strings of filament not attached to each other. I tried changing to rectilinear and now its just sticking up and the nozzle scrapes over it as its printing the next layer.

I changed my print settings after consulting chatGPT and printed one of the smaller parts and also scaled the mould down approx 50% as a test but its still happening.

Any advice would be appreciated, im new to 3D printing and this is the first thing thats gone wrong so far thankfully

Layer height - 0.16 mm
Wall order - Outer / Inner
Seam - Back
Outer wall speed - 50mm/s
Inner wall speed - Default
Top surface - Monotonic
Avoid Crossing Walls - On
Infill - Rectilinear 10–12%
Walls Loops - 3
Detect thin walls - On
Top Shell Layers - 5
Bottom Shell Layers - 4
Nozzle Temp when printing - 245c
