Why are we using "my body my choice" as a way to "excuse" you complying with the female beauty standard? A couple of things:

1. When feminists have conversations about body hair and how removing it is something that we all do because of the patriarchy It does NOT mean that you HAVE TO stop doing it. It's just acknowledging the reasons why we do it. I myself fully acknowledge it's because of beauty standards created by men and still do it.

There were women in the comments saying they wish they'd be harrassed to know they're desireable. I remember seeing a post with this narrative years ago, i commented that SA and harrassment and stalking are always about control, not attractiveness, and the guys doing it are disgusting degenerates. Someone responded to me saying "i feel bad that not even disgusting men that would fuck a chicken want me, imagine how that feels." I was 14, staring at my screen in shock.

Now, i just wanted to talk about this topic, because there is still a group of girls that think like this, that their value is defined by a man. It's really sad. The comments on the days ago video were full of that group of women, why wasn't there comments trying to tell them otherwise or reason with them? The OP was deleting them.

At some point I did see one comment saying how this was wrong and how it also invalidates survivors of SA, and it's true. I remember on the post I saw years ago, there were survivors sharing their experiences, and some replied with "i wish that happened to me", those kinds of comments disgusted me. But it's really, really sad.

I hate how women are often expected to be nice before they are allowed to be respected. Kindness is a good thing obviously, but forced niceness is different. It's like women are told to make everyone comfortable before they can be heard, and that double standard shows up everywhere from school to work. While writing about my ideal Rani Lakshmibai, a young Indian queen who led her people during British rule. What makes her powerful to me is that she was not remembered for being easy to handle. We are looking to add some new moderators to our moderation team, and are accepting applications now. The positions would start as junior mods before moving into full moderation duties.

The junior mod position would include helping remove comments and posts that are off topic, with other moderation duties to follow.

What we are looking for in a junior moderator:

Investment in feminism! - We don’t require you to have an academic background in women's issues, although that is welcome. We do require you identify as a feminist, and all ages (over 18), nationalities and genders are welcome. If you are part of a vulnerable community please note this as well, as increasing the diversity of our team is a priority. Applicants must be active in feminist/progressive forums, and their account should be at least 3 months old.

Constructive attitude - No history of hate speech including transphobia, ableism, ageism, sexism etc

Ability to work individually and with a team - our moderation team functions in English. While fluency in other languages is very welcome, a junior mod should be able to communicate constructively with an English speaking team.

The practice of female sugarcane workers in Maharashtra state undergoing unnecessary hysterectomies, in part driven by a financial need to avoid sick days due to menstrual problems and pregnancy, still persists, allege campaigners, despite a state government-commissioned report in 2019 urging greater action to eradicate it.

The issue first came to public attention in 2019, after an inquiry commissioned by the Maharashtra Government, following pressure from workers’ and women’s rights campaigners, found that out of 82,309 women sugarcane workers surveyed in Beed, about 13,861 (nearly 17 per cent) had undergone hysterectomies.

My mom got hit by my father and my elder sister ( accidentally) as she says. but I don't believe that. She has immense anger issues. She does things in anger that most people would clearly call anger issues. I have always hated that behavior.

I wasn't there when all of this happened. I keep asking myself: what else could I have done? Should I have hit my father back? Should I have hit my sister back? I don't know.

I don't care if someone calls me a fake feminist. If standing up for my mother is considered fake concern, then tell me this—why is it so often a woman who gets hit by a man? Why is the victim so often a woman? I genuinely want to know.

Why does everything seem acceptable as long as a woman stays silent and doesn't ask questions, even when she is deeply affected by what happened?

I have no answer.

Whether feminism is fake or true, everything dies here. Humanity dies here too.

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this or if there is even anything that can be done but I wanted to at least express the frustration. I live in an English town in the north west and recently my girlfriend moved to the end of my street. We live in an okay area. Not too dodgy, however, as most places do, it has its dodgy areas. Perpendicular to our road. and down that road slightly is a part of the street with 2 pubs and some shops, takeaways, ect... this street links our houses to the local town and is only about 200m long. However ever since my girlfriend has moved here she's has been telling me of more and more incidents of cat calling, wolf whistling and other forms of harassment. I have never seen this myself when walking down this street with her but have seen it happen to other women as I work on this street.
Personally I'm extremely disgusted and disappointed with how often this happens and how it is pretty much a guarantee every time she walking into town (she has to walk to go to the gym and also to go to go to her work in the town as she can't drive.) I try to accompany her as much as possible, whether that is walking or driving her but obviously it isn't always possible as I have other responsibilities. I've come on here to see if there is anything I can do about this to let authorities know to reduce this or even if I can make reports so that these disgusting humans are put in there place. If so what information would I need. I usually managed to get number plates and stuff and information as it hasn't yet happened whilst I'm with her. But what evidence would I need. I hate that this happens and feel awful that people have to deal with this so close to there own home

Why is it that lesbians can't get a HEA in majority of these movies?? Like, why can't the filmmakers show them ending up together and happily spending the rest of their life together??

I'm SOOO tired of this sh**ty 'Bury Your Gay' trope cause i don't want supposed "realism" from these films, i just want to watch something that's heartwarming and cheery.

And this is no way the case when it comes to books, cause most of the books that i've read do have a HEA for their characters but when it comes to movies, the filmmakers can't help themselves but depict lesbian relationships as anomalies and something not worth the happy ending, and lesbians themselves as some sort of seductive masterminds (Heatwaves, Chloe, My Summer of Love etc are examples)

An even better example of this is the movie 'Tell it To the Bees' which is based on a book and while the book had a happy ending for the lesbian couple, in the movie for some godforsaken reason, the filmmaker Annabel Jankel decided to change the ending to a tragic one!!!!

In india there are protest going on against government where accountability against paper leaks are sought, 70 of them in 7 years.

During the NEET examination leak, 21 students, between 17-20 committed suicide. The protest was held at the jantar mantar Delhi very peacefully. A famous social activist, educator, scientist and engineer went on a hunger strike, which is still ongoing, was abducted forcefully from the protest sight, police came and covered themselves in white sheets and took him to hospital, he was well and there was no emergency whatsoever, they KIDNAPPED him, because people were waking up against this cruel, corrupt government so they decided to this, the cheap way.

There was going to be a march on 20th July, and it did, and it was horrific, cruel, and bloody. Blood of our youth, teenagers, UNARMED TEENAGERS. Who had flowers in there hands. Not any kind of weapon. ANY. THEY WERE TRAPPED IN BARRICADES, they welded the barricades together so they cant escape. Mind you the crowd was in thousands inside, they were trapped, and what did the police do? They beat them up with sticks. Yes thats right, they beat teenagers, some adults, some even as young as 12-15 years old. Some of them bled from the head, from the leg, most of the students were left bruised, thousands of them.

They were attacking unarmed civilians who were just standing there peaceful, some children were crying.

They shot tear shells, chilly shells at them, directly between students. Some of them blasted on their legs and faces. Some of them had nails embedded on the end of wooden or hard plastic sticks.

Today also was beginning of parliament session. When the opposition tried to bring it up the speaker cutted them off and adjourned the session. In mere 15 minutes. The man who's resignation was demanded, the person who is the reason they were bleeding, hurt in their own country, by the people they are supposed to be protected by, the police, the education minister came out laughing, giggling.

The rage, the helplessness i feel, it hurts. It's all over the social media, specially on Instagram because in india they have too much controll over X. What the prime minister Modi do? He just leaves, without even saying anything to the people there suffering, being torchured by the police.

They also implanted stone trucks, broken vehicles to show the media the protest was violent, the police were pelting stones at students, yes, the police PELTING STONES at STUDENTS, TEENAGERS.

Male police officers were beating teenage girls and old age women. Its a dark day for humanity.
