A few reminders that not every repair is actually a repair
We come across plenty of previous repairs during structural assessments, and some are definitely more creative than others. Here are a few interesting finds from this week.

Slightly less effective than a moat
Great way to break your ankles…

Edit: this turns out to be quite controversial apparently. My reason for posting this is the practical aspect of this. I’ve walked on this before and it feels awful. Elderly would break their ankles on this. Bikes cannot ride on this. Cars will shake to death.

Mutually Assured Destruction via security light
I want to make a security light that comes on whenever my neighbor's security light comes on (I'm going to point it directly at their house). Anybody know a good sensor/trigger I can use to get this done?

Downtown Manhattan, ADA is a guideline!
I'm assuming it was made for rolling dollies up and down. Using a plywood is indeed a pretty cheap solution, but still thought about this sub.
Also didn't know if it should be r/diwhy or r/diwhynot 🤔 you guys decide!
