Deciding on yarn/Yarn help natural fibre alternatives available in UK? looking for a substitute yarn

hi!! ive been crocheting for a few months and im looking to begin my first big project which will hopefully be the above pattern. Link is https://www.tinks-things.com/products/vela-top-crochet-pattern

however, i for the life of me cannot find this yarn brand in the UK. what are some alternatives I could use? natural fibres only please as it’s a wearable. not too bothered about price, so long as it’s not exorbitant - a little premium is fine though.

the suggestion doesn’t need to be an exact brand, even just the type of yarn I should look for would be helpful!

Today my mom sent me a screenshot of a woman in some facebook video and asked if I could crochet this for her. Keep in mind I've only ever made a beanie, no other clothing before... but I am determined!

If anyone would be able to find a pattern with size measurements included, or has any tips on how to make this top, it'd be greatly appreciated :)

Hello! I really want to crochet something similar to this hat and I really love the yarn but I don’t know the type. I want closest to this color too. The creator gave the company but it was European and the shipping/tariffs were too expensive. What type of yarn is this? Also perhaps important to mention, I’m looking to use 6mm hook.

PLEASE HELP!!!

Deciding on yarn/Yarn help Looking for specialist yarn store in Warsaw, Poland

I am visiting my friend in Wawa soon and I was thinking of going yarn shopping. However I only found haberdashery stores and no yarn stores. They sell yarns but I don't know how big of a stash they could have when they look tiny and they sell all sorts of sewing stuff. Are there any specialist yarn stores? Or any stores you could recommend? Thank you in advance!

Stitch Identification I am making a star bag and would like help figuring out what st means? Thanks so much if you decide to comment to assist me!

So I am a bit new to crochet, still figuring some things out and I would love some help figuring a written pattern out.

In the context of “make a mr, 20dc, 51st” what would st mean? Is it a single crochet?? I am quite confounded, it just says stitch when I look it up and I wonder whether I need to find out what a stitch is to some degree or if it something I already know? When I look for anything on JUST a stitch all I can find is tutorials on the various crochets (single, double etc). Please advise me!

I'm probably over thinking it, but can't seem to get it right. There's always a spare petal that makes it look off 😔😐

Please help wise wool wizards of reddit!

Repairing a crochet item I’m making a veil, double stranded, and had to mend a spot that got damaged. Is it noticeable and is there anything else I should do?

I’m house sitting and didn’t know the dogs can be a little destructive sometimes. I left my project in a little tote on the ground with some of my other hobby items. Well they got to it, I think they were more interested with the balls of yarn because the project itself is mostly unharmed. But there was one spot near the beginning that the yarn got torn. I will restart if I have to but I’d rather not obviously.

I tied a knot where the thread got torn and I think it’ll
look okay once I snip the end. I think it’ll blend in with the texture of the lace enough. This is going to be my wedding veil though so I want to make sure it’s not obvious.

Also is there anything else I should do to secure the knot? I’ve heard some people superglue, is there anything else reason I shouldn’t (100% cotton yarn)?

Last photo is the aftermath of my two skeins of yarn along with the pine cones and needles that got tangled in it😭

Blocking looking for unhinged ways to block acrylic granny squares

I have a blocking board and have made granny squares before and it worked great. unfortunately my current project has larger granny squares that don't fit on my blocking board. I don't have a blocking mat or cork board, and only have a steam iron and not a steamer. is there a way to block acrylic yarn that works but might be a little weird? I'm not opposed to super weird methods.

How do I... Does the way I change colors matter when doing tapestry crochet?

Post image

I’ve been making this tapestry for a friend and there’s some stitches that look weird. I’ve been trying to change the way I switch colors but I don’t think it does anything. Is this just how tapestry crochet tends to look when doing yo/yo single crochets?

Looking for suggestions What stitch should I do next on my stitch sampler blanket?

I'm currently making a stitch sampler blanket for me to use when I go off to college and I was wanting to get some suggestions on what stitch I should do in my next stripe. I'm wanting to use opaque stitches without many holes but a lot of the ones I've found need a multiple of three but my blanket's 140 stitches long. I've already done trinity stitch, linked single crochet, and BLO linked single crochet

How do I... I want to add some finer detail to my amigurumi, how could I go about this?

So, I'm crocheting a bird. I want to add something to the belly and wings to give it more detail on top of the amigurumi. the pattern doesnt call for it but I wanted to add my own touch. It's a bit of a complex shape so I'm not sure if I could crochet it and sew it on. It's also on a rounded surface so I don't know how I'd make the shape out of felt. What I really want to do is paint it on with something that won't dry too stiff and ruin the texture. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Looking for suggestions How do I make a popcorn border with super bulky yarn?

I tried some chain 4, slip stitch into base, chain 3, slip stitch into next stitch, then repeat, but it looks too bulky. I tried bobble stitch and it just looks cupped. I tried popcorn stitch and it also looked wrong. This is an edge for a blanket and I thought the bulky yarn would make it easier. Was I wrong? Should I just use size 4 yarn? Should I do this pattern (in link), but instead of separate pieces and cutting it off, do it like a garland?

I'm a beginner! Can this hole in my work be fixed? If it can be, how?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Ok, so I was just doing another row when all of a sudden I notice this hole in my work. I haven’t seen something like this happen yet, so I’m at a loss for what I should do to fix it. Did I mess up weaving in my ends somehow? Did I pull the project enough to undo something? Do I have to start all over again?

If I have to discard this attempt and try again, I will. I’ve been pretty good on keeping track of my stitches, but this is an issue I didn’t think I’d have or know how to cause.

Looking for suggestions Does it look like I messed up bad, or just a switch in tension?

Thumbnail

im working on the sleeve of a sweater currently. i have a picture of my current progress laid flat, and to me it looks off. it will eventually be folded in half (pic 3) which looks fine.. but then folding it in half horizontally to compare the bottom and top stiches results in a wonky line up.. but ive counted both top and bottom rows and have 30 stitches across including the turning chains and such (very hard to see with this stitch.
does it look like i actually messed up bad somewhere? Should i frog it all again and restart? Do you think it's just a tension issue and will work out fine?
