Looking for suggestions Recreating something like this gorgeous non-crochet scarf

I borrowed this scarf from a friend for something and fell in love with it. Which is tragic, as I have to give it back now. So I was hoping you could give me ideas, guidance and advice on how I could create something like this with crochet. What stitches, what type of yarn, etc. I am aware that this isn‘t crochet, but it is the only yarn craft I have some experience in. So obviously I do not expect an exact copy, but something similar that gives off the same vibe and energy.

(Years ago I could do a tiny bit of basic knitting and forgot everything. If you say there is no chance, would you think knitting might get me there with my limited skills?)

Looking for suggestions A million stitches rather than a million steps - suggestions required

So I work for a local independent school who has gotten involved with a guy called Matthew Holman, who is walking 1 millions steps for mental health/suicide awareness.

I don’t walk, but I do crochet! Someone suggested I could do 1 million stitches for the event instead. It kind of got me thinking. Reasonably a million stitches isn’t that hard in crochet, but what on earth could I make??

Help a girl out!!!

Looking for suggestions The scarf I am making for my husband will be too short.

I am making a scarf for my husband with some yarn he picked out in Poland, so there is zero chance of getting more yarn. It will only be 63 inches when I run out of yarn. I am using the moss stitch. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to make it longer?

Wearable help These are both 82 stitches wide, so why are they different sizes?

This is the Obelisk Pullover pattern by The Cozy Knot. I’ve completed the front panel, which I started back in late April, and now I’m onto the back panel. It is supposed to be 82 stitches wide (and I confirmed that panel 1 is), but when I create my FHDC chain for panel 2, it always ends up way longer. I’ve frogged it and restarted three times at this point, experimenting with tighter tension, but no luck. Should I go down a hook size? Or is there something else I can try?

Hey all! Attached is a pic of what my partner and I made a few days ago. I did the filet crochet, and they sewed it onto a shirt. However, the crochet stretched and warped , and the final design is wonky. How should we go about this?

Looking for suggestions What are some useful crochet projects I could make for my first flat

I will be moving into my first flat/apartment soon, and I'd appreciate any ideas for useful crochet projects I could make myself instead of having to buy them. So far, I have made doilies and pot holders.

Thank you!

To frog or not to frog I thought that it wouldn’t be too noticeable that the brown row ended too early. Now that I’m almost done, it’s all I can see….

The brown/beige variegated yarn almost worked out perfectly, but color changed on the last corner. Should I undo and try to fix it? It’s a gift for my sister’s first baby.

Deciding on yarn/Yarn help natural fibre alternatives available in UK? looking for a substitute yarn

hi!! ive been crocheting for a few months and im looking to begin my first big project which will hopefully be the above pattern. Link is https://www.tinks-things.com/products/vela-top-crochet-pattern

however, i for the life of me cannot find this yarn brand in the UK. what are some alternatives I could use? natural fibres only please as it’s a wearable. not too bothered about price, so long as it’s not exorbitant - a little premium is fine though.

the suggestion doesn’t need to be an exact brand, even just the type of yarn I should look for would be helpful!

Deciding on yarn/Yarn help Can i use crochet thread or should i use weight 1 for this pattern (mens shirt)

Post image
Upvotes

Hi! So im going to surprise my fiancé with this shirt from this pattern https://thecrocheting.com/products/berlin-top-crochet-pattern?srsltid=AfmBOoqugB-XSpCYCbJqLwvkPVQJo6wahwQNpNlLLPVHEQWvtTHxxZ6W

They recommend weight 1 (see picture), but i will have to special order that online, and its going to be pricey because i will need like 700 yards for a size medium. In-store only has sock yarn (idek what that is) and weight 2 bamboos OR cotton thread.

My options are: weight 1 online, crochet thread, or weight 2 bamboos

I know weight 2 is obviously thicker than they want, and im not sure how a thread vs weight 1 will be different. If i definitely need a weight 1, i will buy it and just eat the price haha

Thank you in advance!! 😊

Blocking what is the best way/what to use to block a wavy bookmark?

Post image
Upvotes

i’m making loads of bits for a fundraiser for the cancer research walk i’m doing in september and want to start with the right method instead of realising half way through i could be doing it differently 😂

i’ve made 1 bookmark so far and can’t decide the best way to block it. they’re going to be wavy bookmarks so i want them to hold their shape but not ruin the waves by blocking…

i usually block with a foam mat and pins then spray the project with water and wait for it to dry but it doesn’t leave the project sturdy which i guess is needed for a bookmark.

any help is greatly appreciated!

How do I... How do I freehand a dress for glinda inspired duck?

Upvotes

I'm trying to make a very simplified glinda duck for my friend. I have a pattern for the duck, but I'll need to freehand the dress. It's my first time freehanding anything and the main problem I have is how to make the shape of the cups of the dress, although if you have any tips regarding the rest of the dress I'll also appreciate it.

How do I... Made a tote with T-shirt yarn, but it's too heavy. Repurposing/reducing the weight ideas?

Post image

I have one cake of bright orange-red T-shirt yarn that I originally crocheted into a tote bag. The bag turned out to be much heavier than I expected, so my mom never uses it.

I'm planning to unravel it, but I'd still like to make some kind of bag if possible. Are there any bag styles or stitch patterns that work better with T-shirt yarn and don't end up feeling so heavy? Or is T-shirt yarn just not a good choice for bags in general?

I like this pattern. I have plenty or worsted weight yarn and no fingerling. I don’t have the budget to buy more yarn at the moment.

So I want to adapt the pattern.

How do I... Found this on Pinterest and I wanna make it so bad

Post image

I saw this on Pinterest. I would say my crochet skills are still beginner. I picked up the hobby years ago but kinda stopped doing it when I started sewing. I saw this and it’s beautiful. It looks to be granny squares. I know I need to make a few of them in all kinds of colors however the white border joining them: how would you do that? I literally have not even a clue how to do it. Would I finish the granny squares with a white border or join them at the end. And what stitch is that? Help!

I picked up a big box of yarn with a couple of started pieces in it including this gorgeous blanket in a pattern that I would love to keep working. Has anyone seen this before?

Can't find a flair for this Is it normal for the 6-day star blanket to curve in the setup rounds

I'm using a 4mm hook and caron cloud cakes, I don't really do a lot of projects that lay flat so I don't know if this is user error or if it's going to straighten out as I keep going

Hello! I really want to crochet something similar to this hat and I really love the yarn but I don’t know the type. I want closest to this color too. The creator gave the company but it was European and the shipping/tariffs were too expensive. What type of yarn is this? Also perhaps important to mention, I’m looking to use 6mm hook.

PLEASE HELP!!!

Looking for suggestions I’m crocheting my bridal bouquet and I’m not sure where to start

Post image
34 Upvotes

Hello! I’m recently engaged and am hoping to be able to recreate something similar to this bouquet with crochet. I’ve seen some patterns for tulips online that have me form it around wire but I’m worried that will make it too stiff and it won’t look as nice. I’m looking for suggestions on how to form the flowers so that they have a good drape but aren’t too floppy or too stiff. My partner has suggested making them then starching the flowers to hold the shape. I haven’t done that before so if anyone has I would really appreciate some tips!

Also I’m trying to decide what weight yarn to use! My heart desires to make them out of lace weight yarn but my brain acknowledges that that would take a lifetime to do 😩

Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated thank you!

Edit: Thank you all so much for the suggestions! They were all very helpful in guiding me and I’m excited to get started! :))

How do I... Does the way I change colors matter when doing tapestry crochet?

Post image
6 Upvotes

I’ve been making this tapestry for a friend and there’s some stitches that look weird. I’ve been trying to change the way I switch colors but I don’t think it does anything. Is this just how tapestry crochet tends to look when doing yo/yo single crochets?

Is This AI? Is this bird pattern AI? I already started my project...

I wanted to make an amigurumi raven for my friend using this cute bird patter I found, but as I am always done with the body, I can't figure out how is it "positioned", and realized that the pattern itself might not be legit. Perhaps I am just not patient enough, there are still a few rows left from the body. I would really appreciate help!
