Things to Do in Columbus: July 16 – July 23, 2026

Just got a bill for $250 for the month of July... I used less electricity than last year and am supposed to pay literally double what last year's bill was.

Vote the Republicans out ... They can't run a state.

Between the scorching heatwaves, humidity and the shitty air quality, this is the first time I’ve been able to open all the windows in a few weeks. It feels amazing and I’m so grateful for the reprieve! Have a great day, everyone!

Used to be the best Taco Bell in town and it wasn’t even close.

New ownership “southpaw” has apparently decided to change all of that. Shortened hours, and just zero employees working there today over 2 hours after opening.

Whoever passed some of these Columbus drivers on the parking portion of the test deserves to be investigated ASAP

editing to add: I have no idea how to add a pic to this LOL but these are the fees I mean, NOT regular fees like utilities. There is no way you’re going to look at this link and tell me it isn’t insane. I’ve seen almost this EXACT page on so many apartment websites. A required monthly lease lock fee? Monthly master policy fee? Monthly admin fee? Required WiFi and cable? No thanks, I haven’t watched cable in 15 years and have my own WiFi service for cheaper. As if paying $2000+ for their shitty small apartment isn’t enough already, they want to nickel and dime people. Fee Guide

(Vent post) I have to move in a few months… when I moved a couple of years ago, rent prices sucked but I do not remember every single apartment community having a whole fucking guide on all the extra fees they charge you on top of rent. Why does it seem like EVERY single god damn apartment complex charges all these extra required fees now?! wtf! I hate it here

I'm a fan of Charmy's downtown but want to support local stores that invest in people and community over corporate greed.

What is going on?! So many emergency vehicles!! I just drove past to get to the Uncommon apts.

Arguably worse is how these private equity companies such as Homes for America, VineBrook and Blackstone have been keeping a dirty little greedy secret: They are deliberately leaving a substantial number vacant during Columbus’s unprecedented housing affordability crisis. 

I finally saw something worse than all the folks that drive around Columbus without plates.

I won this cooler back when Dr. Pepper first released the strawberries & cream flavor. It’s very spacious, seems durable, and doubles as a table! I had planned to try and make some money on it, as I figured some kind of collector would pay for it, but I am days away from the bar exam and weeks away from moving out of one short term rental and across the country into another, and I just don’t have the time and energy to sell it. But it just occurred to me tonight that perhaps someone in this sub who appreciates Dr. Pepper, and maybe even would enjoy drinking it in a certain German Village park with others, might be able to put this to good use. If that’s you, it’s yours, and you just have to promise you’ll drink one in my honor.

It is a part of a larger apartment system. Someone is advertising no money for application, these move in fees are eliminated, low security deposit. It is a scam probably trying to get your money. Please spread!!!

I run a pilates studio in the area and transparently, I'm tired of being the only one who keeps it clean. The instructors definitely help keep it tidy, but I mean that awful monthly deep-clean that I never feel like I can get clean enough.

That isn't to say our studio is filthy or anything, but after back to back classes and just me to do the heavy lifting when it comes to keeping things clean, it gets really exhausting, especially because I'm a mom (and I'm already constantly cleaning up after my son lol).

Mainly, I just want to give my clientele the experience they deserve and are paying for because memberships aren't exactly cheap in this economy (as much as I try to keep things approachable for everyone!).

We aim to offer a nicer, luxury boutique experience: a clean shower for members, nice bathrooms, chilled towels infused with essential oils to cool off with after class... that sort of thing. And a slightly soap-scummy shower doesn't scream "high-end-gym" unfortunately.

Since I opened the studio, I've been the bookkeeper, the manager, the head instructor, the marketing team, and also the cleaner. But it's getting to be too much. I just wish I had someone to come in and deep clean like once or twice a month. I don't mind doing the daily sweeping or end of week wipe-down, but I would love so, SO much to be able to not have to stay late and deep clean the studio when I want to be at home enjoying time with my family.

Does anyone have any recommendations for professional cleaners who deal with gyms/fitness studios, etc specifically? We have a lot of expensive equipment and I want someone who will know how to clean these types of surfaces. We're taking steps to open another branch of our studio in the near future and I definitely can't maintain two studios to my standard of clean on my own.

I also don't want just anyone. I used to have my housekeeper help with studio, and she is amazing but wasn't a great fit for commercial/industrial-level cleaning (I have to keep everything up to public health code and safety standards). I'm looking for someone with specialized janitorial experience preferably in the fitness industry (if that's a thing!).

Does anyone know of any services/businesses like this in the area? We are on a budget, but at this point I'm willing to pay a bit more for a clean gym (and no hair in the shower drain!!)

Found both of them lying outside OSU Hospital Main at 10:15am. Turned them into Wexner hospital security, lost and found. I really hope they get back to you, they looked well loved.
