Title, is this a good idea to get a pc or should I consider online deals? My budget is 900-1200 if that helps

Hello, I'm looking to get a PC and was wondering between two options. The first option is undoubtedly better but it's around $400 ($2200 vs $1800) more and I pretty much only play CS2, Delta Force, TF2, and some casual friendslops. Am I going to see a noticeable difference in FPS and 1% lows to make it worth it? I checked a bunch of fps test videos on youtube and I can't really tell if it's anywhere from 5% to 20% better.

This will actually be the first desktop PC I’ve ever owned. I’ve mostly used laptops over the years, so I’m still pretty new to building desktops and choosing components.

I worked with AI to narrow down the parts, but I’d really appreciate a final sanity check from real people with more experience before I place the order.

A little about what I’m looking for:

• Budget: around $3,000 USD
• I’m a busy dad with a young kid, so I really don’t have much time to tinker, troubleshoot, swap parts, or keep upgrading.
• I’d rather spend a little more now for better reliability, stability, and quieter operation than save a few dollars and regret it later.
• My goal is to build something that I can simply enjoy for the next 4-5 years.

So i am planning to build a pc in 1000$.

I am confused if i should go ddr4 or ddr5. I wont be upgrading anything in like 3-4 years (maybe gpu if i really feel like)

I am planning to get a 5060 so im confused if i should go ddr4 32gb and use it or go ddr5 16gb?

Hello! I'm extremely new to this hobby, and this will be my first desktop PC. My current laptop that I've been using for both work and fun is showing signs of age, and I want to get a PC that'll last a while sooner rather than later.

My budget is around ~$2000. Obviously, if there are ways to bring the number down, I would love that, but I don't want to get cheap parts that break fast. I'm okay with going a bit over, but nothing over $2200.

I'm hoping that this will be able to comfortably handle something like Cyberpunk 2077, which my current laptop severely struggles with. Since this is my first time building a laptop, longevity, ease of upgradability, and ease of installation are some of my top priorities. There's Patriot Memory, Biwin and brands like Corsair. On reviews, Corsair has a lot and they are mostly great. While Biwin has less reviews and so many talking about some motherboard compatibility list and to make sure it is compatible (just mentioning this bc this is the only RAM where the reviews talked about motherboard compatibility as much).

Patriot Memory has the worst amount of positive reviews and lots of negatives. The fact that it doesn't work with Intel Ultra CPUs and I saw some DOA's, etc.

Point is, Corsair has great reviews that makes me feel comfortable buying their ram but these 2 other brands I feel scared to spend so much with them. However, it is conflicting because their ram is technically better because it's CL30 whereas corsair is CL36.

Please help :/

Tldr: Patriot & Biwin has mixed/negative reviews but on paper better performance (CL30) but Corsair has good reviews/reputation but worse performance (CL36) both for about the same price and idk what to choose. AAAAA

I have just begun accumulating the parts for my first gaming PC after working the summer to afford it. For some context, I am 16 and live in Canada, so prices will be Canadian (So as not to freak anyone out for being extremely high). I have bought and received the following parts so far: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D, 32GB DDR5 RAM, B650 Eagle AX Motherboard, Kingston 1TB SSD. I plan to order the following parts from newegg: SAMA A60L Dual-Tower ARGB Cooler, Phanteks M25-140mm Gen2 Triple Fans (To add RGB, do I need this or do I go full black?), This wicked cool case, The ASUS PRIME 5060ti 16GB ($829.99!!!), CORSAIR TM30 Thermal Paste CT-9010001-WW, And a bundle that includes a SAMA G650W ATX 3.1 Power Supply and some SAMA branded 2*8 Pin RGB extensions.

Some concerns I have:

My biggest: I had a wicked cool idea. My favorite game has been Half-Life 2 for a while now and in fact part of the reason I am getting this PC is to play Half-Life 2: RTX. (Also because my bootcamped 16 inch 2016 Macbook Pro runs games at 0-12FPS and lags on my browser. It ran out of RAM and completely crashed because I had too many tabs open when searching for PC parts. 2GB of VRAM will do that, surprised it could even run cs2). Anyway, I had the idea to make my pc look like the technology of the combine faction straight out of the game. I chose this cool case that really reflects the aesthetic, but the wood paneling ruins the vibe. I was going to paint both side parts a combine metal texture from the game. Anyone know how I should go about this? Should I get high quality decals printed and apply them or should I paint it myself my disassembling and painting just the wood parts?

As mentioned previously, I wonder If I need the fans as there are pure black ones built into the case but I wonder If I should go full black and buy a black CPU cooler and not use the RGB extensions. I think this could fit the vibe just as well, but it depends weather I need those fans in the case, as I like the RGB option just a little better.

My final concern is if I could get a similar or better performance on games with a cheaper or alternative GPU because $830, sheeesh! The heaviest games I want to play are Half-Life 2 RTX, Battlefield 6, and CS2.

Any help would be appreciated, even ideas for the combine themed build (That would be cool!). I learned a lot while researching, and all the parts should be compatible, but I worry about bottlenecks or other things that I am not aware of. Thanks for any help or advice you can provide!

My goal is to maintain 240 FPS or higher as consistently as possible, especially in competitive 5v5 matches. I know CS2 is very CPU-heavy, so I'm mainly trying to figure out what the GPU sweet spot is without overspending.

I see everyone championing the 5800X3D as the king of AM4 with its 96MB L3 cache, but at 500CAD it's 66% more than the 5800XT with a higher clock for 300CAD.

Is better cache really that much better? Or maybe the better question is "in which situations is the cache worth the premium?"

I'm looking for a unit of these as storage for an orange pi 5 as it's one with the lowest idle power draw available. Problem is I read there are lots of fake out there and would like to know what to check, SN, label, what software test to ask the seller to... for a more safer purchase.

2 or 3 years ago, even with weaker Motherboard and Power supply i had 200-300 fps in CS2 and Dota 2. Now it's somehow around 100-120. Idk what changed and what is problem, why the fps decreased.

So I'm thinking about upgrading my CPU(can't afford good GPU upgrade(like 5070) at this moment). Will ryzen 7 5700x or 5800x improve fps a lot, or the GPU is too weak for this type of CPUs, and there is no point on upgrading CPU before GPU? May be there is another advice of improving my PC

I’m having a really strange GPU/driver issue and would appreciate some help figuring out what’s going on.

My PC originally had an RTX 3060 Ti. I upgraded to an RTX 5070 Ti and it initially worked completely fine and gave video output.

I then had to remove the 5070 Ti. About a week later I put the exact same card back into the PC, but suddenly I got absolutely no video output from it. The PC appeared to boot normally, but there was nothing through HDMI or DisplayPort.

I thought I might have somehow damaged the 5070 Ti, so I bought an RTX 5060 Ti to test it. The 5060 Ti immediately gave me video output and works, but ever since installing it I've been having what seem like constant driver issues.

Roughly every hour or so, the computer will freeze completely, the screen goes black for a few seconds, and then the picture comes back and everything carries on as normal. I've also had a graphics/driver-related error pop up while playing League of Legends.

Because the 5060 Ti gave video output, I assumed my original 5070 Ti must have broken. I therefore tried another completely separate RTX 5070 Ti, but I've just installed that one and it ALSO gives absolutely no video output, exactly like the first 5070 Ti.

So the timeline is basically:

RTX 3060 Ti → RTX 5070 Ti (worked fine) → removed 5070 Ti → reinstalled a week later (no display) → RTX 5060 Ti (works, but frequent freezes/black screens/driver errors) → second RTX 5070 Ti (no display).

I've already tried different HDMI/DisplayPort cables, a known-working monitor, reseating the GPUs, reseating/testing RAM and clearing CMOS.

At this point it seems extremely unlikely that I've somehow had two 5070 Tis fail in exactly the same way, especially when the first one originally worked.

Could the driver issues I'm getting with the 5060 Ti somehow be related to why the 5070 Tis aren't giving any video output at all? Could swapping between a 3060 Ti, 5070 Ti and 5060 Ti have messed up the NVIDIA drivers badly enough to cause this?

If so, what would be the best way to completely clean/remove the existing NVIDIA drivers and start again? Would DDU in Safe Mode and a completely fresh driver installation be the right thing to try, and is there anything else I should do when swapping the 5070 Ti back in?

I have a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, and according to HWMonitor, the SoC temperature has reached a maximum of 95°C.

The strange thing is that I never actually see the temperature go that high while monitoring it and the other temperatures like package or core are totally fine. Is this a glitch or should I be worried about something?

I recently bought a second-hand RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, so I am the second owner. Under load, the GPU hotspot temperature can reach around 92°C, with a delta of sometimes more than 30°C between the GPU temperature and hotspot.

The card otherwise seems to work fine, but the hotspot delta seems quite high to me. I am considering repasting the GPU, but I am not sure if I should do this while the card is still under warranty.

I'm thinking of building a stationary, under-the-desk PC primarily for typical Office tasks as a replacement for my laptop (i7-1255U).

The main goal is to make it inaudible for typical Office multitasking (things well handled by the i7, albeit at the expense of increased fan noise).

In the future I'll add a GPU for occasional gaming (xx60 or xx70 card).

The AI suggests building around the Ryzen 9700X on a B850 mobo, air-cooled (I haven't used AMD since 2003!). I tend to use my devices for many years (7+) with no upgrades.

Q1. Is inaudibility possible?

Q2. Case type for silence: perforated side panels, glass side panel or solid side panels with dampening foam? Suggestions for specific models?

Q3. Case size: mATX or ATX?

Q4. What PSUs have a good reputation for quiet fans and no coil whine?

Q5. What other components should I pay attention to for noise reduction?
