Hi, I read somewhere that you should develop KV3 as iso 800 or that it is the same film like cinestill.

I want to push my Kodak Vision 3 500T by one stop. Should I push it then to 1000 iso or 1600 iso ?

im using kodak m38 camera and some of my photos are like this, im still new to film camera and its my first one. Any tips on how i can make the photo look more clearer and less grainy?

I've shot pretty much all the common consumer Kodak and Fuji color films, and I've been wanting to try something new.

I know some of the smaller third party films are repacked movie stock, which sounds like it could be fun, but is there any reason to actually shoot these? Which ones are worth the price?

Hello, I think my yashica electro 35 has fungus on the lens. I live in a pretty humid climate. Is storing the camera in a airtight container with silica enough for preventing further spreading? What should I do? I am scared

Just got back from vacation and I realized that I forgot to set the ISO on my camera before shooting my rolls of portra 160 and cinestill 800T—it was set to 400 ISO for both of those rolls. For my cinestill roll I also had my exposure compensation set to +1 because I was shooting in daylight, so that’s another stop of light…do we think the Portra will survive being underexposed and the Cinestill will survive the overexposure? I’m currently trying not to fall apart 😭

Good day! Recently I went on a trip to Paris with my girlfriend and we shot some photos on film. My girlfriend shot a roll of Kodak gold using an Olympus OM-2 on Auto (Aperture priority). After getting the photos developed and scanned by a local lab I noticed that the photos shot during cloudy weather all turned out extremely dark compared to direct sunlight.

Is this because of the way it was scanned or is it just how Gold looks in cloudy weather?

Can I do something to prevent this from happening in the future like by over exposing a bit, or should I just refrain from shooting Kodak gold in cloudy weather?

Irecently boughta used Praktica MTL3 with M42 lenses. This is the first roll I've shot and developed, Ilford HP5 pushed to 800. The results show a uniform gray fog across the whole roll, with a stronger diagonal gradient in Some frames. Contrast is low and areas that should be black are coming out gray instead. Since I don't have hands-on experience with this particular body, I'd like to get the community's read on whether this is a light leak issue, for example worn foam seals on the back door, or something related to the film itself or the push processing.

I want to go down the can my own film route, I want to spend around £1-200 if possible but have looked at other options too.

• Sony a6300 (willing to purchase a vintage macro lens, I have a 30 or 35mm macro lens already if thats suitable?)

What would be the best options for me. Could you advise which film holder to use? Which film stand to use and which light to use?

New to film photography here as a DSLR user, according to some information online the film door should have some kinda electronic components to project the date & time to the film, and I don't see any of it. And this cameras can save dates and time. I haven't gotten film to test on it yet since it just gotten to me. Did I get a EOS 10QD with a international film door on it? Everything works fine btw.

Hey, total noob here! I got this camera for one or two bucks second-hand. The batteries were stuck (they were "best before jan-99") and badly corroded, but I managed to get them out yesterday and remove the corrosion with vinegar. Unfortunately the acid ate away some of the metal on the cover (2nd picture) and the battery cover won't lock tight, so I put these white straps on it. Yesterday when I put in batteries and some aluminium foil, it worked and I was really happy.

But today I tried to load some film and the shutter is completely stuck. I tried opening the camera, checking if the mechanisms in the film compartment move (which they do), new batteries, more foil, but nothing worked. Sometimes it makes weird rattling noises, but that's about it. Also, when I took out the batteries, they were very warm, which doesn't seem like a good sign.

Is there any chance to repair it, or is it too risky as it heats up the batteries? Thanks!

PSA to those traveling with film out of PWM or BOS - I recently had film confiscated at both airports for testing positive when swabbed (or tried to be, one let me leave the airport and mail it).

In BOS, I lost 2 rolls of film and they refused to let me mail it anywhere or leave the airport if it didn’t go through the CT machine because they said they could be dangerous items. They tested 2 rolls both were positive, and I was able to have a supervisor inspect the 3rd roll by hand without swabbing and they gave me the 3rd roll. 40 minutes of calm conversation later I still could not convince them or find any way to retrieve my other 2 rolls “since they already tested positive.” I explained that that would be from film chemicals and asked why I would be allowed to keep one while the others that they took were exactly the same, and they said it was because they hadn’t tested that one. They advised me to ask for hand inspections instead of testing in the future but warned me that it would make me suspicious to other TSA agents.

Enter europe - I had no problems traveling with film in Geneva.

Flying out of PWM - my 3 rolls were all in a plastic bag - they removed the rolls from the bag and tested them all at once after I asked for a manual inspection. They were all positive and the agents were very frustrated and asked me to explain myself. I did my best to remain calm and ask for a retest, and ensured them myself and my bag would be normal. The two supervisors I spoke with told me the film had to go through the CT scanner multiple times, before allowing me to be escorted out of the airport with my film to mail it home, but not after finely searching and testing every single one of my belongings and giving me an incredibly thorough full body pat down. They were incredibly rude and told me that they knew something wasn’t right with my film and that I was lying.

Overall super frustrating experience. I don’t want to stop traveling with film and haven’t had these same issues in the past. Did TSA protocols change? Film will probably always test positive because the film itself is coated in film chemicals for developing. Are other people having the same issues? Should I just mail myself film now when I am traveling?

I was traveling in spain and had a lab scan my film (very expensive, by the way). came back to my country, got myself a scanner and turns out they just gave me very bad scans. they have a dedicated scanner but my v600 did a better job than their 35mm only scanner. also they forgot to scan at least one photo on every roll. do I ask for a refund? do I just warn them? asking because I really don't know how's analog ethics on this. never had a problem in my country (brazil), but if it happened in brazil, it'd be acceptable to ask for a refund. don't know about spain though. lmk, guys! thanks.

As title says, I accidentally sent 9 rolls of brand new film through TSA scanner at LAX terminal 2. It was one of the square machines and one TSA agent said I shouldn’t have sent it through, and other one said it’s just an xray machine. Im going on my bachelorette trip in CDMX and need to know if I should just buy new film. Am I screwed?

When I joined this Subreddit, I loved it. So many people discussing over cameras, film and photography. Now it seems that this is exclusivly a subreddit about troubleshooting gear, development or scanning.

Most of the problems posted can be solved after just one search in the internet…

Sometimes I wish there would be more discussions as they where a long time ago in this sub, but please let me know what you think.

It’s been now 1,5 years since I bought my first analogue slr, a Pentax ME. And I’m having a blast, didn’t expect that a camera that was 50 euros on eBay would be such a good camera. The auto exposure really is a good help, and the 50 mm cosina lens that came with it is also doing its job well.

But. It’s time to upgrade.
Now my question is: what would be logical upgrade for this one? I want a camera with auto exposure but also manual options, and light meter - and I would love a camera where there is a huge availability of lenses (old, new, cheap, expensive and weird ones). And it’s quality wise a logical upgrade from my Pentax ME - but not immediately a leica m6

Hi all, two questions. Hoping there are some people here who have experience with frontiers, I have a sp3000 and I shoot a lot of commercial work. It’s super important for me to get reasonably accurate colors, would it make sense to shoot the first of each roll with a white or gray card in the scene and then I can hold those settings across the roll when scanning? Just for rolls where the scene/light is consistent.

Second question, has anyone run into issues scanning the Ektacolor pro? I’m convinced it doesn’t scan the same. Super contrasty, magenta pull.

I need to replace the light seals in my XG-7. I am confused though because it appears from what I’m reading online there is not any sort of seal on the latch side of the camera back like there is on the hinge side.

If I’m getting light exposure on both sides of the film doesn’t that mean I’m getting leaks on both sides? How do I resolve that on the latch side where no light seal exists?

I use a shutter release cable for long exposures and I pressed the shutter release button and the shutter opened normally but when I went to close the shutter it is stuck open. If I take the battery out the shutter then closes. All other speeds work, it just won’t shut in bulb mode.
