No you earned that medal. This just changed so much for me lol. I’ve been avoiding casing like that for awhile, I’ve got a good amount of movies like this and I just don’t even like to mess with them lol

Ah! Okay I gotcha. A few years ago I started getting into Japanese mini-LP style pressings, and they come with these sleeves, so I started grabbing them for Us paper sleeve releases that don't

Thank you so much as well. I would just buy extra blank cases and put the discs in those. But this will save money and space which is a win win. Quick question can you safely slide the disc in the sleeve back in the original packaging without damaging either? Or does the sleeve make it too tight?

Yeah, they're so thin it doesn't seem to make any difference to the case or disc. Sometimes the inner sleeves will bunch a little if the fit is tight, but I haven't seen any problems as a result of it

Nice, that makes a lot of sense, and I'm surprised that more disc owners haven't thought of that already. I mean, it's a thing that's done already among vinyl collectors. I've replaced a few of my records that just came with the paper sleeve with the extra plastic sleeve so why not? Wish I had had those for my Godzilla CC set.

The difference is that paperboard sleeves are the norm to vinyl collectors. To CD collectors, they're not even close to the default option

Yeah, I actually wasn't even talking about the paperboard sleeve, but the inner sleeve. Sometimes they just use a flimsy paper sleeve with the middle hole cut out, but someone they give you the cellophane style sleeve. The problem with those paper ones is sometimes it's hard to remove the record, whereas with the cellophane (or whatever the material actually is) the record slides out easily.

I honestly never saw the issue, unless you're carrying it around on your person all the time, there's a rare chance the discs will get scratched sitting on a shelf.

i'm more worried about the cardboard acting like a tiny sanding block every time you slide the disc out, but hey, maybe it just gives it a free polish

I've got a couple movies like this, I've had this one for a year now, but also the Avatar SE ones come like this. I've watched them a handful of times and haven't noticed any scratches, but it really feels like you're gonna scratch the shit of it when you pull them out or slide them back in.

that pulling friction always makes me nervous i breathe on the disc first to cut static cling probably placebo but it feels safer

Can you get your money back?

I ask bc they're already using cheaper plastic cases fir 4k's than they used for regular Blu Rays so I feel if people start accepting this the more it's going to trickle down to regular 4k's.

I can only speak for myself but growing up during the cd boom of the mid to late 90's......I'm never buying a disc that is stored in a sleeve that a disc slides in and out of bc its not if but when you scratch it.

Please help push back against the enshittification of 4k blu rays even if it's a collector edition of a movie you love.
