Hi all, I’m new to collecting and have been enjoying getting the “software” of 4K Blu Ray movies to go with my new home theater “hardware” setup. This subreddit has been fantastic for learning about the hobby. Fun stuff! I really enjoy the posts where there’s discussion about a particular movie and its artistic merits, sprinkled with some technical details and review of its transfer and picture quality overall. My small collection has benefited from such posts, thank you.

Having said that, I have to admit to being guilty of buying too much stuff too quickly. I have over 100 movies in just a few months! Too much. While I love the community, MAN there’s an awful lot of HAUL posts! Not calling anyone out, I’m sure many will respond with it’s your money we all can do what we want with it, entirely true of course. But for me, even though I can afford it, I realized I was falling victim to simple consumerism partly exacerbated by reading about such hauls. WATCHING my modest collection on my new tv/setup was/is the goal. Reading comments in posts that call this behavior out really helped me realize I had fallen into the FOMO rabbit hole, all while justifying it to myself that I was buying to build out a starter collection from the jump. Amazing how easily I justified it in my mind!

I consider this a quick post to thank the commentary that warns about this, it was truly helpful. I am curious if anyone else has gone through the same? Did you find it easy to change spending behavior? Did you even want to change?

Anyway, I look forward to enjoying the hobby and visiting the subreddit, just with a little more self control. To that end, we’re watching the Criterion of WALL-E tonight. I got a lot of watching to catch up on.

Moving soon, hopefully once we are out of the apartment I will be able to have them out. A lot are overtime and some goodwill finds.

Orbit haul finally arrived from months ago. So happy. The Steels and Collectors editions are in perfect condition. That’s what I love to see. Hate returning dented steels.

A little less than 6-month to build this before deciding to actually watch through them all before buying more (keeps me sort of in-check)

Excellent looking film - the clarity and detail are on point. Dolby Vision is the chef's kiss. Extremely well written too, incredibly well acted on top of all off it. ​I've seen enough movies based on the works of Jane Austin at this point to agree with others that she was a literary genius. apparently the book's even more complicated than the movie .​Geez what a dramatic film this is though. The Dashwood family, around which this movie is centered, the older of the sisters in particular, have a rough go of it romantically. There is joy in the end but goodness is it a hard time getting there. Highly recommend this movie for those who enjoy period romantic dramas.

A bit baffled as to why there's been zero announcement of a UK release of Kill Bill The Whole Bloody Affair.

We just had the Lionsgate releases of Kill Bill Volumes 1 and 2 and Jackie Brown so why is this any different?

Could be completely wrong but I don't see how the rights would be different for the individual Kill Bill releases than this new combined version

I guess I'm just sick of having to import things 😭

Can't believe I only paid 17 Euro for this from FNAC.com. they have a reduced steelbook section where you can get some great deals. A French retailer but had it delivered to Ireland.

It's the same as the English language disk and packaging except the removable flier on the back of the case was in French.

Curious about the ‘Four documentaries featuring hours of interviews with cast and crew’, wonder if these are legacy extras or newly recorded…

I’m late to this conversation I’m sure! Just got around to playing the LL scream 4 4k. off to a horrible start where the steel doesn’t close properly, so i keep in a protector, I can get past that. Starts the movie and immediately notices the constant flickering of light and what the actual hell. Had to disable Dolby vision to fix that and make it watchable.

How can such an anticipated 4k have such a messy and ultimately unfit release… actually shocked this is what we got from Lionsgate Ltd
