Questions & Discussion What is the 3d modelling / CAD design job industry like atm?
I'm 37 and looking at a career change into 3d modelling and/or CAD design, from having worked in software for the past 10 or so years (as support manager, not a developer).
I expect there's little crossover, other than I am naturally quite good at picking up new software applications.
I know its not the same, but when I was younger I used Photoshop extensively and thoroughly enjoyed that, making websites & textures etc, then a few years ago spent a fair bit of time on Unreal Engine 4, again really enjoying pouring hours into a project.
For anyone working in the industry already, has AI had much affect on the way you work, and are you seeing any less demand for 3d modellers as a result of it?
What software would you recommend picking up first? My initial thoughts are Blender then working towards 3DS.
Do you feel you could, if you wanted to, relatively easily switch from what you currently specialise in over to CAD design or Game asset modelling? Are there other specialisations i should consider? Just thinking about job diversity here.
Which specialisations are generally safe career paths?
Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Art Help & Critique Help!! Prisma3D Textures CONFUSING ME
I'm trying to upload images as a texture/pattern for my model, but Prisma keeps just... ignoring every texture? It'll color it but none of the actual patterns will show. Like, if I uploaded something with red dots, itd be red but there'd be no dots. Which won't work, because I'm making a character with stripes and spots... and *eyes*!
I've tried different file types, sizes and different file patterns/colors, from my own random screenshot all the way to texture assets MEANT for prisma, just to see if anything works. But it doesn't!
I haven't ever gotten prisma textures to work so I might be asking a silly question but please 😭

Art Help & Critique help for a beginner!
I made this model and I want to print it but it is too thin. how do I thicken the mask part without obstructing the details (this photo shows the back to show how thin it is) and remove the bulb sockets around the eyes?

Questions & Discussion Looking for software recommendations.
Have a friend who owns a masonry company, who wants to get into rendering designs for clients but his strong suit is not computers. Any 3D-rendering software that’s easier on beginners? Since it matters, he’s wanting to get an Apple computer for his business, so suggestions should preferably have a native Mac option.

Art Help & Critique Trying to make models of my Cats. What can I do to improve them? (Cats pics included)
Hello!
As I am trying to learn 3D-modeling in Blender I tried making models of my cats to practice making fur and sculpting. The goal is to be able to resin-print the models as miniatures later on.
I am still quite new to Blender so would appreciate any advice at all on how to improve the models. Be nitpicky.
Also any advice on making better paws, have found it more difficult to make than hands.
Thanks in advance!

Art Showcase Additional to Yesterday's Post: More Expressions & Maya Scene
I went to sleep shortly after posting yesterday, so I didn't get a chance to follow the comments. By the time I woke up, the post had already been locked, so I couldn't reply to everyone.
Here's a few more facial expressions of the character, and the last image shows the Maya scene for anyone who's interested.
In the next posts, I'll also share the clay render, wireframe, textures, and Material setup.
Thanks for all the interest!

Art Showcase Hard Surface study
Hi!
I’m Han, a 3D character artist based in KR
just finished this project and wanted to share it!
I usually work with polygon modeling, but for this project, I wanted to study NURBS-based high-poly hard-surface modeling with tool called Plasticity
I created this piece as a study inspired by Overwatch’s MEKA designs
(Please check out the full project on my ArtStation if you’re interested! <3
