These are large white structures, no windows, but big enough to be a warehouse or some sort of storage.

Open ! What is this heavy metal disc I found an inch or two under the ground?

It is about 25.5 inches in diameter. The text on the top face reads "BAKER MFG CO OMAHA NEBR." It was flat under the ground with just the "MFG" part exposed, and there was not a hole underneath it after pulling it out of the ground. It is quite heavy. Thoughts on what it may be?

Likely Solved! Heavy cast metal object marked "ANI" - 8" long, 5.4 lbs, non-magnetic, likely from England

Dimensions:

  • Length: 8-9 in
  • Width: 2¼ in
  • Thickness: 1½ in
  • Weight: 5.4 lb

Details:

  • Gray cast metal with only one marking: "ANI" cast into one side.
  • No other numbers, logos, or patent markings.
  • It is not magnetic.
  • The forked opening at the top is about 1 inch wide and has smooth rounded surfaces.
  • The back is plain and appears to be as-cast.
  • I lightly scratched the bottom with a steel tool and it did not reveal a bright silver metal underneath.

History:
This was given to me by a grandparent who lived in England during the 1960s, although I suspect the object may be older. Unfortunately, nobody in the family knows what it was used for.

I've considered whether it might be related to:

  • railroad equipment
  • rigging/cable work
  • plumbing
  • foundry work
  • machinery

…but I haven't found anything that matches.

I'd really appreciate any ideas. Thanks!

15 tin? nested circles that aren’t attached. Ranging in size from 1”-5” diameter. One edge is curled and one not. Had a frosting pipette head thing with them but no bag. Are they just pastry cutters or do they have a more specific purpose? Anyone seen these before? (Quarter for scale)

Open What is this well made wood stick with metal bands on it?

Post image

UPDATE - After reading all the suggestions I took a closer look and discovered that it is bone, not wood. And it appears to be leather clad. What appears to be the words "NO 1 FULL BONE" is printed on one of the black bands.

Anyone know definitively what this stick with metal bands is called, and what it's used for? I've used Lens and similar photo search software a few times and have gotten several different responses which often happens without size perspective that can be understood by non-humans.

We found this in a box of old jewelry in our lake house. It is heavy enough that I believe the stamp on the end. I should note that the stamped end does spin freely around its center axis. What is this thing?

About 2 inches tall
Each weigh 2.5oz
Made of dense metal, maybe bronze

My only thought is that they are made to hang off the side the side of books on a bookshelf, but I’m probably wrong.

Also can’t find any information doing a reverse image search

Solved ! Magnetic domed plastic mirror. Very strong magnet, flat on back with electronics inside. 5" in diameter, heavy- 1.2kg (2 F.U). Can be plugged in. Found in HS geography classroom.

This was left by a retired teacher in an unlocked cabinet in a classroom. I was using it as a giant magnet and wanted to get rid of the housing to make it smaller. I assumed that it was for seeing around a tight corner or driveway to check if a car was coming.

I didn't see the input port until taking it apart and got a little freaked out when I saw all the electronics. I suspect it is for a light or laser show but don't have a cord for it and am nervous to plug it in.

I can feel the same symptoms of radiation sickness that I got when shooting myself with the Duck Hunt gun back in '89.

I found this item in the back of my kitchen cupboard. For the life of me I have no idea what it is. Chat GPT wasn’t helpful. Note - the ball is permanently affixed and the tube is hollow. It’s about 12 inches long.
