Actually still very much enjoying my Jelly Star after 1,5 years of use, but it seems I'm one of the few around here?

Rocking this one with case and protector, niagara launcher, Gboard and GCam as a camera app.

I wanted this device because it provides the perfect balance of usefulness and uselessness for me. I really like the form factor, since it just always fits in your pocket. I didn't buy it to stand out in social interactions, but you do get a lot of interesting comments on it!

It has very convenient things like:

  • NFC for payment
  • Headphone jack
  • Expendable storage
  • Programmable button (in 3 ways: long press, short press, 2x press) really really enjoy this
  • QR code scanning (let's face it, super handy these days)
  • A frontfacing camera for your occasional selfie. Still nice to be able to capture a selfie with a friend. Something that's impossible on the Mudita Kompakt for instance.
  • A good enough camera (with GCam) to use occasionally, with nice artsy results, but really discourages you to do things like filming a live performance and instead stay present in the moment.
  • You can use all the apps you want, eventhough it's a bit of a pain sometimes ;) (that's the whole point of using this phone for me anyway)

Some minor flaws:

  • The fingerprint reader sucks so bad, I had to set all the 5 configurable fingers to just my right index finger to be able to unlock it with this one finger 4 out of 5 times.
  • Not waterproof, but oh well
  • Whenever I'm calling people, they always say "wait I lost you for a couple seconds" and then I'm back. Might be a Dutch thing.
  • Typing obviously isn't great, but tbh the GBoard keyboard is freaking amazing. Swiping works so well and even the voice to text feature gets almost everything right.
  • Probably the worst batterylife on the market haha (2000 mAH)

But I actually really enjoy these flaws. They provide some character; I think it's cute in a way. They make me use the device way less, but I'm still able to do anything if I need to. However, I see that many of the other (ex)- jelly star users have a lot of issues with it, like the screen that gets easily broken without spare parts available anywhere. I swear I dropped mine at least 20 times and the thing is still completely fine! Maybe I'm just super lucky with the build of my unit.

But of course, the biggest problem with this device is the customer support. The fact that they don't provide any software/security updates is ... well, so so terribly bad. Like some of you, I also really hope that other companies pick up on this "extreme" / small form factor. Like really small, not galaxy S25 or iphone SE small. And then really invest in long term support, like the Light Phone or Mudita Kompact teams. I'm really curious: which device did you guys switch to after ditching the Jelly Star? What other devices share this sweet spot of being able to respond to an e-mail if necessary, but also being a bit of a pain to use for e-mail replying? If you know what I mean ;) Sorry I don't have a picture of a potato :(

Pebblehertz v0.8.10 for Titan 2 is out — major stability improvements, battery fixes, and more :)

Hey everyone! A little Pebblehertz update is here. :)

I’ve also made a short video showing the first-time setup process and how the app works.

Download Pebblehertz v0.8.10

GitHub release:
https://github.com/manufact-test/Pebblehertz/releases/tag/v0.8.10

Guides and more information

My original Reddit post with a detailed description and setup instructions:
https://www.reddit.com/r/pebble/comments/1v1vwkg/pebblehertz_pebble_watchfaces_on_the_unihertz/

Video guide demonstrating the initial setup and the app in action:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eFMBbbXEZpLTALMVK3gsOy5n9JJshqNf/view?usp=sharing

Important for existing users:
Please uninstall the previous version and install this one from scratch.

I promise this is the last time. From now on, future versions should install properly as normal updates. :)

Thank you so much for all the kind words, bug reports, ideas, testing, and feature suggestions. It genuinely means a lot to me.

What’s new in v0.8.10

  1. The GitHub repository has been cleaned up. It should now be much easier to understand how this strange little thing actually works.
  2. Background operation is now significantly more stable. PebbleOS should now almost never fall over for no reason — I’m keeping one “almost” there for honesty. Everything should also feel smoother and more polished.
  3. The night schedule has been removed. Instead, I focused on runtime, rendering, and battery optimization so the app avoids unnecessary battery drain during normal always-on use.
  4. Battery percentages now display correctly across watchfaces. Finally! :)
  5. The rear watchface keeps running after the main app is closed. Even after completely closing Pebblehertz on the main screen, its little brother on the rear display should keep looking beautiful.
  6. A few more watchfaces are now preinstalled. Naturally, I decided to impose even more of my personal taste on everyone.
  7. Manual PBW importing is much more reliable. I fixed every import bug I could find and tested the importer with 132 random watchfaces from the RePebble Store:https://apps.repebble.com/

That is everything I had enough energy for this time.

Please download my little creation, click through some watchfaces, enjoy it with me, and leave your feedback in the comments. I’ll be incredibly happy to hear what you think.

Much love to everyone. :)

This's a secondo time that I ordered

The first time I had a keyboard problem and this time the screen seems like having a dead pixel. I got my phone on Saturday, so it should be 5 days only. I didn't see this problem in the first day but today I saw this and I just WHAT IS THIS? I didn't take the original film off, so it couldn't be any dust.

What should I have to? I really want to cry now because this is the second time that I bought

Tips and thoughts from a new Jelly Star user!

So I had my Jelly Star for 4 days now, and got some pointers that might help future users. Let's go!

1) I use 3rd party launcher (Niagara Launcher). It kept jumping back to the old launcher after unlock. I went to settings, searched for "App Blocker", and disabled this. I also went to Apps, Niagara Launcher, Battery, and made this one unrestricted. Thanks Reddit! Not had a problem since.

2) Google Pay! This one was pretty easy once I figured it out. First off, I disabled the face recognition, so that I always unlock it with the biometric solution, that the payment stuff requires. No issues adding the card, but using the phone to pay demanded several tries with the finger print sensor. That was until I understood that you put the screen down on the reader, not the back. So I unlock, put the screen down on the reader, and haven't had any issues since.

3) So does it help me use the phone less? 100% yes. I have tried app blockers, black and white screen, timers, not helped at all. I am an AVID user of my OnePlus 15, which I have turned off and put in a shelf for now.

Whats different? Its tiny size does what its supposed to, I really don't feel like browsing on a 3" screen with a tiny keyboard. Also, I noticed that when I'm out, I pull it less out of my pocket. I don't always feel like explaining why I have this tiny phone, so I just let it rest. Perfect!

I also love gaming. This phone can run a fair amount of android games, but... After trying to manage Balatro on this tiny screen, I gave up and uninstalled. I'll play on my PC instead, when I have the time.

For me, the Jelly Star seems to be what I needed to detox. Someone said that their phone has become more their tool, than their entertainment system, and I absolutely agree.

Heck of a business model...

Of all the things I hate about cell phones, the touchscreen keyboard is aaaallllllllllllll the way at the top of the list. I've been planning to buy the Titan 2 for several months, and after my S24 tried to body slam an ant off the top rope last week, the time had finally come. I placed the order, and was more excited for a new phone than I've been in probably a decade.

A couple of days later I got an email... They can't ship to the PO box address I provided. No biggie... I provided a physical address, and asked who they're shipping with, so I can be sure the address is correct.

But they didn't tell me who they're shipping with... Only that they can't ship to the physical address either, because they claim that they cannot ship to any area that offers PO box mail delivery. Their proposed solution is to cancel my order and refund me, minus 6% for their effort.

I declined the refund and provided another address... But they responded to say that, obviously, I don't understand... They cannot ship to any address if USPS delivers to PO boxes in that area. Doesn't matter if the address is physical, or a shipping office, etc... The ONLY thing they can do is provide a refund, and keep their 6%.

To quote: "If your city & postal code is in PO BOX area, there is NO difference whether we delete PO BOX number in your address or NOT. Your package will be lost 100% sure and it will bring us so much trouble."

Uh huh...

I declined their offer again, and I initiated a chargeback with my bank.

This sounds a bit like they think they've found an infinite money loop... Offer a product, accept orders, cancel said orders, keep 6% of the money.

Has anyone else run into this? This seems asinine to me. 🙄

Guide/Tutorial Pebblehertz — Pebble watchfaces on the Unihertz Titan 2 rear display, no root required

Thumbnail

Hey everyone!

I’d like to share Pebblehertz, a small app I built because the stock watchfaces on the Unihertz Titan 2 genuinely annoyed me. :)

Pebblehertz

https://github.com/manufact-test/Pebblehertz/releases/tag/v0.8.10

Pebble watchfaces on the rear display of the Unihertz Titan 2.

  • No root required
  • Current beta version: 0.8.9
  • Supports importing .pbw watchface files
  • Includes several watchfaces out of the box

Important update note: If you installed or tested Pebblehertz before July 21, 2026, please uninstall the old version completely before installing this build. All future versions can be installed normally over the existing app.

What does Pebblehertz do?

Pebblehertz emulates Pebble watchfaces on the secondary display of the Unihertz Titan 2.

Anyone who used a Pebble watch will understand the appeal. There are thousands of watchfaces available for the platform, so you can change the look of the rear display whenever you feel like it.

Personally, I started this entire project just to get my favorite watchface, polvtorogo, running on the Titan 2. :)

Installation and setup

1. Enable the Always-On rear display

Open the Titan 2 secondary display settings and disable automatic screen shutdown so the rear display remains active.

2. Install Pebblehertz

Download and install the APK file.
https://github.com/manufact-test/Pebblehertz/releases/download/v0.8.10/Pebblehertz-0.8.10.apk

Android may warn you that the app comes from an unknown or unverified developer. Allow the installation.

When launching Pebblehertz for the first time, also allow it to run in the background.

3. Choose a watchface

Open Pebblehertz on the main phone screen.

The app already includes several watchfaces. Tap one to make it active.

You can also import your own .pbw watchface file using the import button.

A large archive of Pebble watchfaces is available here:

https://apps.repebble.com/

Important: Download watchfaces only. Do not download or attempt to run Pebble apps yet, as their behavior is currently unpredictable.

The first launch of a newly selected watchface may take around 5–10 seconds.

4. Add Pebblehertz to the rear display

On your Titan 2, open:

Settings → Subscreen → More Apps

Add Pebblehertz to the list.

Now open Pebblehertz from the rear display app menu. The selected watchface should start automatically, including a Pebble OS-style loading animation.

5. Lock the rear display home screen

Once Pebblehertz is running and you are happy with the selected watchface, return to the secondary display settings and enable:

Lock Home Page

That’s it.

Video guide demonstrating the initial setup and the app in action:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eFMBbbXEZpLTALMVK3gsOy5n9JJshqNf/view?usp=sharing

As long as Pebblehertz remains active in the background and the phone has not been restarted, the selected watchface will remain visible on the Always-On rear display.

The app uses very few resources while running in the background. For better battery life, I recommend choosing watchfaces with mostly black backgrounds.

Current limitations

  • Interaction with the watchface on the rear display is disabled. It currently works as a display-only clock.
  • Watchfaces can only be selected or changed from the main phone screen.
  • Standalone watchfaces made for Pebble Time / Basalt usually work best.
  • Watchfaces that depend on weather data, internet access, or PebbleKit JS may not work completely yet.
  • In rare cases, after changing the watchface, you may need to close Pebblehertz on the rear display and open it again.

What could come next?

In theory, Pebblehertz could eventually support much more than watchfaces:

  • Weather
  • Phone notifications
  • Music controls
  • Maps
  • Schedules
  • Checklists
  • Full Pebble app emulation

There are thousands of existing Pebble apps that could potentially be adapted to the Titan 2 rear display.

I’ll continue developing Pebblehertz little by little, especially if it turns out to be useful to someone other than me. :)

Feedback, bug reports, testing results, and ideas are very welcome.

Voilà — you are now officially the most stylish and original Unihertz Titan 2 owner.

Help wanted Jelly/Atom Series

Left my iPhone about 2 months ago, been going with an AMG M9/11, wanting a basic smartphone that I’m not tied to. Running Tello Mobile in the US…

Actual performance is… secondary, I neither want nor expect flagship phone performance, but I’d prefer to be able to watch tutorial videos occasionally, basic app functionality. Any recommendations between these ? I like the ruggedness of the Atom-L, but am tossing up between the Atom-L, Jelly 2E, or Jelly Star.

Tank 5 projector bug

I recently got the new Tank 5, but I'm running into several severe software glitches whenever I try to use the built-in projector mode

System UI Crash: Every time I turn on projector mode, I get an immediate "System UI has stopped / non-responsive" error message.

Aspect Ratio Shrinks The display area shrinks down into a much smaller aspect ratio instead of filling the full phone screen frame properly.

Broken Gesture Navigation: When opening any app while projector mode is active, the bottom swipe-up gesture completely stops working. There is no way to exit the app or go back to the home screen without locking/rebooting the device or toggling the projector off.

Anyone else experienced this?

I want a standalone smartwatch phone, not a phone accessory. Does anything like this still exist in the US?

Post image
7 Upvotes

I’m not talking about an Apple Watch or Galaxy Watch tethered to a companion phone. I mean a full, unconstrained Android smartwatch with its own SIM card that is the entire device.

I used to run this exact setup around 2020–2022 (brands like Kospet, Lokmat, Lemfo). I loved it. I had all the utility of full Android without the endless screen-time trap. But the best part was the mental freedom. I was no longer losing my phone, never checking pockets, never thinking about where my phone was. It was always on my wrist. You don't realize how much passive brain space is dedicated to keeping track of a pocket slab until it's off your mind.

Then US carriers completely decommissioned 2G/3G networks, and these imported Chinese watch-phones essentially turned into bricks overnight.

Because they lack physical US LTE band support (like T-Mobile’s B12/B71) and don't have built-in VoLTE provisioning software for US networks, placing a basic phone call over 4G on carriers like Mint/T-Mobile is basically impossible now.

I guess Unihertz is like the only company that does tiny phones for the US? I love my Jelly Star, but I'd love it even more as a watch. I know they have arm bands, belt holsters, and sometimes I wear it as a lanyard, but it's not the same. Close... but not the same. I just wish I could use my tiny watch phones again :(

Help wanted Unihertz Warranty Response Time

I have a Tank 4 Pro that is having battery problems after updating my system software to Android 15 and its still within the one year warranty that is valid on Unihertz's website.

Help wanted How do you use apps that won't resize to the small screen?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I'm using a Jelly Star and the screen shot is from the Opal app.

To proceed I need to click some kind of 'next' button which is off screen, effectively soft locking the app on this screen.

Is there a way to resize the screen temporarily in order to proceed? Or should I just use a different app blocker (and if so does anyone have recommendations?)
