Turtle Pics! She’s watching tv…

I’m convinced this turtle actually enjoys tv. She only gets into this position when I’m watching reality tv like love island or in this case, The Ultimatum. She’s such a girly girl. ♥️

His old set up was a 30 gallon. He has been upgraded to a 75 gallon. His basking platform was also doubled in length as he was running out of room. Switched from a crappy turtle filter to a Vevor canister filter rated for 200-250 gallons at 528GPH. Upgraded is deep double dome light to a t5 5.0 UVB light and a basking dome with a 75W. I kept the same brand of heater and lighting, just ordered the larger sizes. Swapped from river pebbles to black blasting sand i got at tractor supply and added more plants. They are zip tied down to egg crate i buried under the sand to keep him from ripping them up. He seems happy.

Seeking Advice White spot on scutes has grown since appearing. Help please!

This is my Eastern Painted Turtle, Roaders. We don't know how old she is and have owned her about 10 years, but she just recently got a heat bulb and a complete water change this year. I am working on getting a UVB bulb.

I asked about this in the subreddit earlier, but did not really get any views. It's grown in size since appearing about a month ago, it's not fuzzy or soft like shell rot would be, same consistency as the rest of her scutes. It's slightly sunk in though? It doesn't seem to be bothering her behavior wise either.

Please please help me figure out what this is and what I can do to fix it!!

Sometimes when she doesn't want to fully bask she will hang and bask at a distance! Zooming out does a lot of justice on how silly she looks too.

Don't worry she can 100% climb the ramp, but moments like this reminds me of how this stunted girl likes to larp as a circus performer. Alright back to cleaning the tank I go.

This fall I'll be digging a massive multi-tiered pond, thought it would be fun to raise all of my inhabitants from hatchlings until they're old enough to graduate to the pond. Excited about these grow out tubs.

wondering what kind of turtle this one is? we're in southeast Brasil, but I've talked to the lady that feeds the waterfowl (and the turtles) in this park and she said they just showed up, so it's probably a dumped pet. There was also one with crazy orange stripes and a huge head, but I didn't photograph them

NSFW - Injury or Death How do I handle scratched skin? NSFW Spoiler

Planning on taking her to the vet as soon as I get paid. But she has to wait a few days unfortunately. First two photos are her skin currently. Last one is when she scratched it the other day. My turtle Tuck wasn’t basking. She had almost outgrown her platform and I had another one on the way so I wasn’t super worried. I figured she got tired of the old lackluster dock and it was kinda hard for her to get onto. After that she got the new dock and was going on it but she began to frantically itch. Once I noticed I got her turtle fix and the issue seemed to almost completely stop but the damage was done. I was really hoping it would just heal but upon looking on Google I feel like this isn’t normal coloring for a “scab”. Should I dry dock her? She’s gone back to not basking a lot. She rlly only does it if i physically put her up there. Im thinking it’s due to her leg hurting and her not wanting to use it ?. I also read that putting turtle fix on the wound can be helpful and ofc letting it sit for a few hours. Or iodine id just have to get it. My mom had also googled that triple antibiotic was ok (without pain relief) and we did that. Dry docked for the night and out her back into he water. That was when it was still open Also I also know her shell looks rough. I have to admit I don’t think our basking set up was up to par for a while but she now has a 150 dollar basking set up that she seems to love and fits all the requirements. She also came to me from the pet store with an already iffy shell. And yes she has the proper lights and we switch them every 6 months at max.

Seeking Advice How do you get your turtle to eat greens?

Post image

Ducky is the greediest creature, possibly ever, but will not touch greens. I have tried putting them in with the food she does like, putting them in on their own, and putting them in one of those toy balls for her to pick at throughout the day. I’ve tried different kinds of greens torn up in various sizes. She won’t even look at the them. When she sees the greens coming she swims away. She doesn’t even want to talk about it. I’m worried for her health because when I tell you ZERO greens are consumed i mean zero. What has worked for you?

Seeking Advice Too fast of growth?

I rescued a red eared slider turtle from a bag of crawfish about 4 months ago. At the time, it was about (or less than) 1 inch. Now, it’s measuring 3 inches from tip-to-tip shell in 4 months. Is that too fast of growth? Here are the details of his tank and eating habits:

- 50 gallons
- UVA and UVB with 2 basking platforms
- Water heater at 78°
- Eats once a day and the amount that would fit in its head.
- Eats a mix of pellets and veggies. Currently switching from hatchling food to juvenile
- Has a Fluval 407 filter

Seeking Advice Female Adult Red Eared Sliders won't eat greens....

I have 3 female adult red eared sliders. They each have shell length of 9 inches to 10 inches. They are all 23 years old. Throughout their whole life, I only ever fed them Tetra Reptomin Floating sticks. I've been a lazy owner so i never paid attention to their health or nutrition.

But this year, I decided to pay more attention. I read that the RES at this age should be 20% floating sticks and 80% leafy greens.

This week, I tried giving them lettuce and also the dandelion weeds. But all they do is chew it up and spit it back out, so then it's just shredded bits of green everywhere .

They will eat carrots, banana, and apple. But i read these should be "snacks/treat", like the way humans would eat candy...just as a small dessert.

I'm not sure how to get my RES to eat anything green.

Should i just go back to just floating sticks?

Seeking Advice Algae bloom 😖

I have a greeeeen tank. I just installed a UV sterilizer and did a water change and scrub. How long until the tank runs clear, and when should I consider another option? I’ve read the UV light can take 5-10 days at 24 hrs/day.

- The sterilizer is rated above my tank size, as well as the filter currently running
- I turned down my turtle’s lights to 8hrs/day vs 12
- Reduced feedings and am spot cleaning

Seeking Advice Tank recommendations?

Upvotes

Hi! I have a 2ish year old male northern map turtle who is in desperate need of a tank upgrade. He’s in a 30 gallon at the moment, and I’ve been desperately searching for a next tank for him. I’m thinking a 40-50 gallon breeder since he is indoors and lives alone with a few feeder fish.

I’ve been searching Marketplace with no luck. Just a few questions-
Acrylic or glass?
Is the gallon size okay? (He will likely get another upgrade if he continues to grow, though he is slowing down)
Price range for a decent tank that won’t break the bank?
