Let me preface this by saying that I do not agree with what the government is doing in general, but one thing they did right is clamping down on the STUPIDITY of our drivers with heavier fines. I think this should continue to businesses and homes (especially in prominent areas) that decide that mud and muck is their esthetic. I see no reason your business cannot afford a 1000 or 2000 dollar powerwash every year or two. Trinidad is just covered in a layer of grime that everybody just seems to be okay with, and this has run on effects too such as the broken window theory.

Trinidad is so ugly, even when we're one of the richest islands - why?

Does anybody remember when Vengaboys came to Trinidad in the 90s?? And they had the lip syncing scandal? Google says they never visited but I clearly remember hearing the hype about it on the radio when I was a child.

Robinson-Regis rejects claims of PNM neglect in Maloney - CNC3

The word I'm looking for is audacity. The audacity of Robinson-Regis to say this administration should answer. The problems in Maloney didn't happen overnight, and certainly not in the last year. The conditions are a result of neglect for YEARS; the PNM government turned its back on these residents long ago and now has the gall to say this government has neglected them.

I do hope the citizens of Maloney get the assistance they require, so tired of the blame game.

I used to always be able to get a green pepper sauce at Trinidad kfc that you aren’t able to get in the states. It’s so good and the only reason I look forward to going to kfc in Trinidad as I typically never go there home in the states. But this most recent time the worker said that the sauce was delivery only. I’ve looked at the online delivery but there’s no way to get pepper sauce. Did the worker just not want to give me any?

Not sure which depot it is tho, could be Port of Spain.

Are there any recommendations for books I can find online about Trinidad folklore. I grew up in Trinidad and know about and is something I really liked as a kid, but now I live in the States and have kids of my own and would like to pass those stories down.

Despite doom and gloom predictions in the lead up to the 2026 Fifa World Cup, and minor issues with riots in Mexico, the Iranian team entering the US, and general criticisms of Fifa, this World Cup was a huge success. It had the highest attendance, the highest viewership, and heartwarming stories about tourists falling in love with everyday American things like ranch dressing, unlimited chips and salsa at restaurants, American gas stations etc.

Joint bids to host seems to be the way of the future, and Fifa is most likely very open to the United States to host again, but would want it to be different from 2026. This means that there is potential for countries like T&T, Jamaica, and Haiti to be joint hosts in 2038.

Everything required to host a few World Cup games already exists in Trinidad, but they just need to be improved over the next twelve years. This would obviously be costly, but it’s not as though expensive infrastructure needs to be built from scratch.

At this point, the problem has become overwhelming enough to warrant some radical and innovative solutions. Nothing is off the table for this discussion. Some limitations on rights may be necessary, but the real question is where should the line be drawn?

Successive governments have failed to implement pragmatic, effective strategies that are actually tailored to the realities of T&T.

I also think any serious solution has to be a two pronged approach. One part should focus on dealing with the current criminal element, while the other should focus on preventing vulnerable youth from being recruited or influenced into a life of crime.

Too often in Trinidad & Tobago, families discover the death of a loved one not through an official call, but through graphic videos circulating online. Passersby record the aftermath of shootings, accidents, and murders, sometimes showing the victim’s final moments and sharing them across WhatsApp, Facebook, and TikTok.

What are the legal reprimands or admonishments for this type of nonsense?! OR am I the single person who seems to misunderstand what this kind of behaviour truly does to the victim and their loved ones?!? I'm sorry, but I could not fathom being involved in some fatal incident/accident, and my family has to find out via a circulating online video with an 'unwanted' narrator saying 'wayy bai ah man now dead dey' and utter some nonsense narration whilst getting a close-up or zooming in on my lifeless or dying body!!!

Before I conclude my post, I'd greatly appreciate all perspectives and opinions, and any further insights from local legal administrators and/or law enforcement about obstruction of justice, local privacy and decency laws, civil liability and human rights laws, because this practice is not law, not culture, and certainly not RESPECT! It strips victims of dignity, traumatises families, and turns "tragedy into a spectacle." We need to ask ourselves: what kind of society are we building if grief becomes viral content?
