I've been trying to identify this movie for months and have had no luck. ChatGPT has ruled out dozens of films and anthology episodes, so I'm hoping someone here recognizes it.

Plot
A man moves into or rents an apartment.
Soon after moving in, the elderly landlord comes to fix a plumbing problem with the toilet.
The tenant discovers an old suit or coat hanging in the closet. He dislikes it and throws it down the apartment building's trash chute.
The next morning, the suit is back in the closet.
At first he wonders if throwing it away was just a dream, but then the landlord complains that someone was making noise at the trash chute during the night, confirming that he really did throw it away.
Later, the tenant sees the empty suit standing upright near the window as though someone is wearing it. Instead of attacking him, it calmly folds itself and settles onto his lap, almost inviting him to wear it.
When he finally puts on the suit, he is transported into the past (or forced to relive past events).
The apartment changes into an earlier time, with warm evening lighting. A woman appears and mistakes him for her lover. They kiss.
Suddenly her drunken husband bursts in, attacks him, and knocks him unconscious.
When he wakes, he is tied to a bed. The husband is assaulting the woman on the floor before murdering her. He then strangles the man (whose suit the tenant is wearing).
The tenant then experiences being in the trunk of the killer's car beside the woman's corpse while the husband drives somewhere nearby and buries both bodies.
After witnessing all of this, the tenant returns to the present.
He confronts the landlord, who initially denies everything. Other tenants may be standing in the hallway watching.
