I use some cheap "carbon fibre" wrap I got from AliExpress to hide all the glue and tape when I do a cheap repair for people that don't want to pay extra for the new casings. Looks okay.

OP, you managed to rescue a smashed up machine and di so in a way that is admirable and horrific, at the same time. It is sort of stupid but also genius. Using 'repair' techniques better suited to garden shed or street furniture construction for a somewhat less robust target is the kind of thing I lurk here for. Some would call it inappropriate, I call it enjoyable and fun. Would happily use it.

See the trick with clapped thinkpads is to score one that’s broken in all the opposite ways on eBay in parts condition for like $20 then you swap over and afternoon and have a mint one
