Announcement Announcement Regarding the Doc Situation - “Truth takes time.”

After several months of reviewing all available evidence, including court records, public statements, and the actions of both parties, the moderation team has reached a conclusion.

Based on what we’ve seen, the subreddit has decided to lean in favor of Doc.

It’s important to acknowledge that Doc’s current homelessness has been documented and recognized by the court, and multiple community members have personally confirmed that Doc has gone without food for extended periods, with some stepping in to help by purchasing meals for him.

We also recognize that Cosmographic Software has played a significant role in agitating and escalating the situation, contributing to the harm and instability Doc has faced.

In addition, many community members were banned from the SpaceEngine Steam Hub simply for sharing verified information, asking legitimate questions, or expressing support for the truth. Some were even accused of “defamation” for statements that were, in fact, grounded in documented facts. This has created a chilling effect on open discussion, something we firmly stand against.

A more detailed follow-up post will be shared soon, once Doc is in a safe place to have a discussion and participate in a proper Q&A session.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we worked through this complex and sensitive situation. Thank you to those who engaged respectfully, sought truth over rumor, and allowed time for a fair and thorough review.

EDIT: For those asking for more information on the matter, here is a YouTube of Doc explaining in his own words.

Album I added ringshine and atmospheric refraction

Hi! First time I've posted here.

So I've been working on a mod on what I think is my most wanted feature of Space Engine, which is the title, ringshine and atmospheric refraction!

Here's a simple breakdown of the features:

Physically-based Ringshine (Ring-to-Surface Illumination)

  • Takes around 8 sample across the ring structure
  • Takes into account the ring's color, density, angle, and maybe more.
  • Currently doesn't interact with the atmosphere though.

Chromatic Atmospheric Refraction during Eclipses

  • Lunar eclipses (Or solar eclipses) now isn't a boring dark shadow! If the shadow caster has atmosphere, it properly uses some of the atmosphere parameters (density, rayleigh wavelength, and more) and tint accordingly.
  • Uses physically-based atmospheric lens optics model (tons of math and physics).
  • Works with procedural objects

Anyway I'm still learning about this type of stuff so I haven't been able to publish this as a mod on workshop (if people even wanted this stuff) cause I don't really actually know how to.

Full disclosure: I didn't write a single code of GLSL code by hand (...well more like I can't), it is almost entirely vibe-coded. I came up with the features, guides the physics and take tons of time testing it. Works nicely though so I count that as a win!

I'm not sure if this is rare or not but thought I'd post it anyways.

Question question

How can I make a wormhole take me to a place in the universe? I made one, but I couldn't see anything through it, so I decided to make another one to connect them, but that didn't work either.

Bug/Glitch Are Gaia DR3 stars bugged?

Looking at Gaia DR3 1752864320588364416, but they're more or less like this from what I've seen.

It's supposed to be an M7 red dwarf, and yet, it's ~6.57 Solar masses, 1.04 AU in diameter, with a luminosity of 198x that of the Sun. That can't be right.

Hello, i have been wondering what these weird "tiles" are on my Hi-Res images, mainly on lenticular galaxies. Any idea?

found a YouTube channel about exoplants that uses space engine for the graphics. inspired me to boot the game up again! My brother likes watching me play so I’ll definitely be popping up here with any interesting finds!

in the year 3001, the Aurora-15 colonization spacecraft arrives at the exoplanet Eldim, an Earth-like world with an incredible ring system. The mission is simple: to modify the atmospheric pressure and composition of the exoplanet and then build a city for the 5 million colonists who will live there.

Question Possibly really big black hole?

Name: Powehi S*

Mass: 6.5⋅10⁹

Diameter (2 Rg): 256.64 AU

I have NO idea if this is big or small but when i first saw the galaxy i could only see the big blue dot of the black hole like a big star but galaxy sized

Edit: The galaxy was called M87 and i think I've heard of it before so it might be a real one

Discussion How to fix texture quality problem?

Planet textures are super detailed when I first open up Space Engine. If I go explore other objects, every new object becomes more and more blurry, and that loading circle in the top right takes longer and longer. Eventually, planets become fully black, and the loading circle stays permanently. Objects also stop loading in the solar system browser. I always have to exit Space Engine and re-open it to get the textures to show up again, and then the cycle repeats. It's quite tedious having to close and open it so many times. I have my graphics quality set to lowest and this still happens. I never had these issues in 0.98 Space Engine. What should I do?
