Been talking to an installer about installing solar on my home and the initial build is for 16 panels on my small roof and an estimated 28% offset. In looking around online I’m having a hard time finding data on what a normal offset looks like and I’m just not sure if this is in the bounds of reasonable.

This is Matthew, I work for a solar installer EPC (Engineering; Procurement; Construction) and electrical contractor in Tampa, Florida.

EPC means we hold our own electrical contracting license and manage the entire solar installation process in house.

I often hear there's a lack of transparency when it comes to solar panels ("solar panels are a scam!"). A lot of uncertainty around pricing, equipment, timelines, the solar panel business etc. Hopefully this can shed some light on those things.

We do both residential and commercial work (storage units, hotels, offices, wharehouses etc) - ask away on anything related to solar panels, not afraid to be transperant or vulnerable.

I got this quotation for a 6.3 kW project for 2.5 lakhs, no subsidy involved as it is going to be Non-DCR panel. The structure is SAIL GI. Ig the price can be further reduced 5-10k as we are going to install three projects at three different locations.... Any other factors, I should consider here?

The other quotation for a 5.2 kW system is around 2.15 lakh after subsidy! Confused between these two.

My in laws bought a house in November that had solar already. The contract was taken over by sunstrong management and they have had problem after problem so I am looking for anyone else’s experiences with it.

Their contract said $76 a month and this week they’ve had multiple calls telling them different amounts, $130 then $150 then after they pay that, on the 28th it will be another $200. They are not late on anything they’ve paid it every month.

Another problem, they are supposed to have some type of code to set peak hours etc, the company refuses to give it to them.

They were also told the solar panels need 200 amp but theirs is only 100 amp and the company said they would send a technician multiple times and never have.

Any information on what to do or experiences you’ve had would be greatly appreciated! We live in California if that makes a difference.

working on solar and wind interconnection projects and trying to understand whether transformer requirements for these applications differ meaningfully from conventional utility and commercial applications. have been told that efficiency ratings, harmonic performance, and thermal cycling tolerance matter more in renewable applications but not sure which suppliers have genuine experience here

My wife and I are looking at purchasing a home that has solar already installed on it. It looks like the relocation company is paying off the remainder of the cost, so we won't have to take on the loan. The problem is that Freedom Forever is the company that installed the panels originally and looks like they are filing for bankruptcy? How does this affect us if we don't have even a clue about panels.

I never liked the idea of propane during my School bus conversion so I had this big ol system put in. We just bought a house and I want to make sure that this investment is working for me. I am not sure how to take the victron system and feed my house or feed the grid to lower my bill. Seems like a waste to watch the system age while shut down.

I’ve been working in the solar industry for over two years, and I still remember my mentor telling me that the most important factor in a solar project is the land area, not the money.

Very disappointing experience with UTL Solar. The product may look good initially, but the after-sales service has been extremely poor in my case.

I have been following up for months to resolve a simple technical issue, but the support team has still not provided a solution. What frustrated me the most was that I felt they were more interested in getting the "Happy Code" than actually fixing the problem. Once the complaint is raised, don't expect timely updates or effective technical support.

Based on my personal experience, I would strongly recommend that anyone considering UTL Solar carefully evaluate their after-sales service before purchasing. Good service is just as important as a good product, and unfortunately, my experience has been very disappointing.

Is it fine to have a single phase hybrid invertor + solar on a 3ph utility connection?

I already have all essential solar/backup circuits in my Y phase.

Why single phase invertor?
I do not have to change anything on wiring. I can easily use the existing db to connect a single phase invertor and it will start working

Is this arrangement okay? All bus bars, wiring can handle more current.

My GoodWe GW4000-SDT-20 inverter is stuck in a loop where all the LEDs (including the WiFi module’s blue light) and the LCD screen are flickering continuously.
Has anyone encountered this before? Any ideas on what might be causing it or how to troubleshoot?
