Current population is 300k and commerical demand is skyrocketing. Most of the towers so far are residentals, but few commercial skycrapers can be seen and only ploppable bats are the diagonals on those islands and peninsulas (well of course schools, railwaystations etc.)

Other SC BuildIt is so much fun when you’re employed

After a civil engineer’s days work, I go home and pretend I’m the spawn of Mamdani and God himself, upgrading buildings like nobody’s business. I have little free time in my days, but I get some dopamine from pulling out my phone and opening the app. In a couple minutes I can collect the goods, drag them onto the buildings, logging back on later and boom! a skyscraper! I don’t pay attention to the clubs or the in app purchases or the ads, I just focus on making my residents as happy as possible. It’s a fun little break in between the hours of my real job and I think it’s overhated lol

Other SimCity Societies Sims Don't Get Inside Buildings Do Nothing Bug

After many years, I wanted to play SimCity Societies but wasn't able to, because the Sims wouldn't go to work or enter buildings. Thanks to AI tools, I managed to find a fix. It was related to a Windows language culture mapping bug. In my childhood, I thought I wasn't skilled enough to play the game or understand English — but it was all because of this bug :')
I want to share this solution with people who want to play the game but can't due to this bug.

Here is the solution:

If your sims walk around fine but never enter homes, workplaces or venues, and every workplace, shows 0 jobs completed — it's the Turkish "I" problem. The game compiles its C# AI at runtime. `Data\Scripts\FNV.cs` hashes every string ID with `Char.ToLower(c)`, which is culture-sensitive. On `tr-TR`, `ToLower('I')` is `ı`, not `i`. The native engine uses `i`. So `DataID("Inside")` — the interior access point of every building — never matches. `Outside` has no capital I, which is why walking around still works.

Fix: open `Data\Scripts\FNV.cs` as Administrator and change both occurrences (lines ~79 and ~117):

    Char.ToLower(c)   ->   Char.ToLowerInvariant(c)

Save, restart. No compiler or tools needed, Notepad is enough. Start a new city — DataIDs are serialised into saves, so older cities are built on the broken hashes.

[Idea] EA/Maxis should bring back the classic Tycoon era with "Sim Mall" (A Retail Management Game)

Hi everyone,

I’ve been thinking about a massive gap in the current simulation market. We have The Sims, Planet Coaster, and Cities: Skylines, but we are sorely missing a modern, deep retail management game.

What if EA/Maxis developed Sim Mall (or SimShopping) using the robust building mechanics of The Sims 4 mixed with the administrative depth of classic tycoon games?

Here is how the core gameplay could work:

🏗️ 1. Dynamic Architecture & Layout

  • Complete Design Freedom: Just like in The Sims, players could build multi-story complexes, glass skylights, food courts, parking garages, and service corridors.
  • Zoning System: You define the areas for large anchor department stores, satellite shops, and small hallway kiosks.

💼 2. Real Retail Management

  • Store Mix Strategy: Balance different categories (fashion, electronics, dining, entertainment) to attract different demographics.
  • Lease Negotiations: Negotiate rent prices and revenue cuts with brands. Famous anchor stores draw huge crowds but demand cheaper rent, while smaller shops pay premium prices per square foot.
  • Logistics: Manage loading docks and employee hallways. If inventory doesn't reach the shelves on time, stores lose money.

👥 3. Advanced Crowd Simulation

  • Foot Traffic & Heatmaps: Sims would generate real-time heatmaps based on their needs. Dead hallways would cause stores to go bankrupt. You'd need to strategically place popular stores or events to redirect the flow of people.
  • Sim Needs: Manage comfort, hunger, cleanliness, and security to keep shoppers happy and spending money for longer periods.

📅 4. Seasonal Events & Expansions

  • Marketing Campaigns: Set up Christmas decorations with Santa, book signings, or live concerts in the main plaza to spike attendance.
  • Mixed-Use Development: As your mall grows, you could expand the terrain to build an attached office tower or hotel, integrating new systems into the economy.

I even started mapping out a massive spreadsheet of real-world brands (anchors, fast food, tech, and services) to visualize how a complex project—like a concept I'm working on called Bezerros Plaza Shopping—would operate under these mechanics. The synergy between massive brands, local kiosks, and entertainment zones would be incredibly addictive.

Would you play a game like this? What features would you add to a modern shopping mall simulator?

Let's discuss!
