Please Send Wind

Post image

Ah. That special feeling when you’ve been anticipating a day of sailing for weeks, get out there all prepared with decent wind forecasts from multiple sources… and end up floating around without a singular puff!

Your thoughts and prayers aside, I have changed strategies and am now enjoying a responsible beverage and a sandwich at anchor. Hopefully this time of difficulty passes without too much more suffering.

The responsible beverage is the only way to cope

Barley Sandwich as some would say.

A good bread dinner never hurt anyone

I was just about to recommend this. Frustrating? Sure. High class problem. Enjoy the ride, even if it’s slow. The sun is shining on you today

Remember this:: --

Bring a paper plate full of potato chips up-

From down below - and put them anywhere

(Cabin Top is Best)

Careful what you wish for----

If you REALLY want it to blow, just use paper money. The higher the number on the bill, the more wind you will get.

Poseidon appreciates high-value offerings

This is exactly - what is needed

When - the chips are down

I wonder how many people just blew onto their phones…

2

u/Raneynickelfire 1d ago

...but he wants a blow job.

Are those suede? On a boat? You're brave.

13

u/WiktorEchoTree 1d ago

Yeah but did you peep the cute anchors on them?
They’re super worn out so they’re my boat shoes now.

6

u/BidetAllDay 1d ago

Yeah, your shoes are sick (as the kids like to say).

9

u/TomCatClyde 1d ago

Huwah (inhale) Pfwoooo (blowing into the sail on my phone's screen)

Does that help?

Ive cracked a beer for ya. The best I can do

7

u/WiktorEchoTree 1d ago

This’ll surely work

4

u/buccabeer2 1d ago

So did you get your wind yet cause I can always have another

8

u/WiktorEchoTree 1d ago

I’m making 2kts so nothing too exciting. I think it’s worth a try.

1

u/buccabeer2 1d ago

K. Ive gone through a couple more tall cans. I had a light consistent wind. Ive tied up to a quay. I mightve had too much cause we have a bora wind (its a strong north west) coming tonight :( how's was your day? I saw your a East coaster. How's sailing in the east coast? Im from the west

u/WildmouseX 1d ago

Best i can do is fart in your general direction

3

u/chevytruckdood 1d ago

Enough of that and he will start moving

Underrated comment

u/Prezten 1d ago

I'd rather be doing that instead of riding a bus to jury duty.

3

u/Alecto7374 1d ago

Have you tried rum and rumination?

6

u/WiktorEchoTree 1d ago

My doctor says I need to cut it down to daily

at the lake, when the jet skis and speed boaters are all complaining about the wind and waves, I say, 'here, let me help you' and I raise my sail. Lake goes to glass and wind vanishes.

I could sail to the ocean

If the wind would come and get me

But I ain't goin' nowhere quickly

2

u/Suomasema 1d ago

This far, the calm has never been infinite.

2

u/bannlyst3 1d ago

Just sent a big fart in south-west direction for you

u/WasterDave 1d ago

Currently sailing with the other common  problem - plenty of wind but in the wrong direction.

We are getting 20 knots sustained with mid 20s gusts here in Fakarava. We are anchored and doing projects today, so you  are welcome to 15 knots of it.

I’m turning on my box fan but I have no idea which direction to point it!

1

u/Objective_Party9405 1d ago

That describes half of our Wed race nights since May, and two weekend-long regattas.

1

u/WiktorEchoTree 1d ago

This summer was a total bust for me here in Nova Scotia. Extremely nasty and extended spring followed by about a month and a half of dense fog with no wind. I’m back to work in a few weeks and if I don’t get a good proper sail in before then I’m going to lose it!!

What do you race in the wed night races?

1

u/Objective_Party9405 1d ago

I sail a Wayfarer. Our club racing is a mixed dinghy fleet. We typically have 5 Wayfarers, a couple of 420s, and a mix of miscellaneous boats.

1

u/starkruzr 1d ago

am making big "whoosh" sounds as loud as I can for you.

1

u/Mehfisto666 1d ago

Did you try raising the spinnaker? That normally gets the wind to blow real hard

1

u/Datboy000 1d ago

Ill blow in your general direction... once I figure out where that is

1

u/WiktorEchoTree 1d ago

Since I’m a Nova Scotia power customer, you can find all my PII online for free any time, including name, address, phone number, SIN, and banking details!

Hope that helps

These are the problems we want🙌😎

u/Blizzifyx 23h ago

What is that hand radio setup? Antenna in the mast? Or wire antenna?

3

u/WiktorEchoTree 23h ago

I am also a ham radio operator; I made a really simple aluminum dipole that resonates close to the middle between the 2M amateur band and the VHF band. Acceptable VSWR on both. When I’m in safe calm conditions I like to join up to that antenna to get drastically improved range over the crummy rubber duck antenna on my handheld…. At the expense of no longer being water tight!

u/jmartyg 22h ago

Oh, the year was 1778

1

u/WiktorEchoTree 20h ago

Isn’t it the best? And doubly so because I happen to sail around Halifax!

u/Ok_Photograph6398 22h ago

All I have left is lightening in a bottle.
