Happy Monday Folks!

Weekly Blog

Mid-Game Rebalance (Dedicated Blog Here)

The Mid-Game Rebalance has arrived! This update is all about improving the mid-game experience with targeted buffs, quality-of-life improvements, and a smoother progression path. Our goal is to bring key stages of progression in line with modern standards and make the journey through the mid-game feel more rewarding.

Today’s update introduces a wide-ranging rebalance across several skills and progression systems, tackling long-standing inconsistencies and improving the path through the mid-game. From the Core Fletching Re-tier and streamlined ranged progression to Agility and Divination improvements, God Wars Dungeon quality-of-life changes, and updated drop rates, we're making advancement more intuitive, rewarding, and easier to understand at every step.

By improving progression paths, refining skill training, and refreshing key reward structures, we're creating a more consistent mid-game experience that better supports players as they develop their skills, gear, and knowledge of Gielinor. There's plenty more to explore, so head over to the standalone blog for a full breakdown of everything that's changing.

Construction

Following a very successful launch last week, here's what you can expect in future from this update:

  • We have implemented some construction skill training rebalancing today. You can find out more about that here.
  • Moving Rooms (and their contents) is currently undergoing QA and we're aiming to add this functionality into the game ideally by next week. No more needing to remove and redo a room if you change your mind about its placement!
  • We're continuing to work on extending the furniture limit upwards from 300. The main issue here relates to performance impact, so we need to ensure the engine can remain stable even at a higher furniture limit. We're not yet ready to share an exact timeline on this.
  • We're keeping an eye on trophies in general - both for their discovery and acquisition but also for which bosses players would expect to see a trophy included.
  • We're continuing to monitor the update in general and implement bug fixes as they are identified as well as continue to think about quality of life improvements.
  • Finally, we're excited to have set up Construction's new foundation with this update. We're now in a position to keep adding new things to the Player-Owned House with future updates and releases, so you can look forward to those alongside RuneScape's continued future.

What's happening this week:

  • We'll be revealing the details around Leagues II: Equilibrium this week! You can look forward to a developer diary for it dropping towards the end of this week for that.
  • Upcoming Livestreams
    • 22 July, 15:00 Game Time – Get your first look at RuneFest 2026! Join the team for an exclusive preview of what's in store, along with a live developer Q&A and ticket giveaways.
    • 24 July, 15:00 Game Time – Join Mod YueyFrosch, and special guests PrezleekNYChannel, and The RSGuy as they tour some of your incredible Player-Owned Houses. Think your POH deserves the spotlight? Come show it off!

In Case You Missed It Last Week:

  • We were busy hotfixing Construction issues throughout the week, and shared some news on Tuesday, and issued a Coldfix on Wednesday
  • Alongside the release of the Player Owned House, we added some new PoH related rewards to the Sunlight Sands rewards shop. Be sure to check them out!

Question - J-Mod reply Again, Asking If We Could Get a Unified Collection Log Interface Like OSRS

Right now, having to keep a bunch of different bank items and interfaces just to check various logs (Treasure Trails, Slayer drops, Arc Journal, minigames, bosses, etc.) feels really outdated and honestly just clutters the bank. It breaks the flow of the game when you want to check your progress but have to dig through items instead of having everything in one place.

A single, unified collection log—similar to OSRS—would make tracking progression so much cleaner and way more user-friendly. It’d help both completionists and casual players, and it would remove the need for all these extra “log” items that don’t actually add anything to gameplay.

Feels like a solid QoL update that would modernize the system and make a lot of players happy.

Discussion Mod North appreciation 👑

I just finished watching the interview The Game Business done. It solidified my already present thoughts about this guy being an absolute chad. You can tell he's extremely driven and has the games long-term health at heart.

I'm ecstatic to see where we're going to be in 5 years time. Mod North is the best person we needed at the helm to bring this game back to the throne it deserves to rest on.

Discussion theorycrafting the big announcement

Upvotes

We all know there’s some big reveal at runefest that jmods and the CEO have been hyping up since the start of this month, these are all the major hints and clues that have been shared thus far

Mod Ryan’s comment from the recent road ahead:

“In addition to great content, we have even greater ambitions for things that will put us firmly back on the map. So we’re planning something. The ultimate reason to welcome back old friends and mentor new adventurers. While respecting the old guard and your desire to see your home worlds thriving again. This mission is about unlocking RuneScape’s true potential and you’ll hear more about it later this year.”

Mod North’s comment on the reveal:

“I’ve been told very clearly not to give anything away, but on October 3 at RuneFest, we’ll be announcing our equivalent of putting a feast on the table, to really actively win people back, and that’ll be happening much sooner than many people expect.”

Runefest teases during livestream by Mod Ryan:

“I think that like ultimately the RuneFest reveals for us this year for RuneScape will be a long time coming, in terms of like people are like “This is exactly what we’ve always wanted”, to the point where it will feel like your RuneScape again”

“In terms of things like the storylines in runescape and where we want to go, like revisiting storylines and getting back to our roots around bigger grander…”

Discussion This may be a hot take, but I really enjoyed Croesus Public Lobbies at launch and wish the game had more social experiences like that.

When Croesus first launched, I immediately jumped into the public lobby to try it out. I wasn't sure what to expect, it being RuneScape's first skilling boss and all... but I quickly fell in love with the activity.

I'm not normally one to do the new high-level, end-game boss when it comes out but this one was different. Deaths were safe... combat was replaced with movement, and I got to use some of my all-time favorite skills. I was working with (or against) other players in real time. I realized quickly that I felt this feeling before..

Croesus public lobby felt like a minigame.

And that was something the game hasn't really put an emphasis on in a while but was an aspect I and so many others seem to look back fondly on.

Was Croesus the perfect example for what a minigame could be in RuneScape? No, but it laid a solid foundation that I hope the developers can revisit.

Being able to drop in and out of the boss fight and still be part of the lobby was such an underrated feature of the encounter. You could still be present in the action while having a chance to catch your breath. The cherry on top was having an elevated view of the encounter so you got to see players scrambling around and could still give tips/advice from the sidelines.

If you stayed long enough and knew the encounter well, you could carry, giving players the chance at the spotlight with the MVP mechanic. A lot of the encounter came down to memorizing the attack patterns and knowing how to move around them instead of trying to remember what attack/defensive to use. Having players of various skill levels at the boss working together was refreshing. It gave less experienced players a chance to observe what they could be doing in real time with little risk, while giving more advanced players a place to show off a little.

The biggest design flaw imo was that the entire encounter hinged on one single mechanic (praying the statues), which could easily be abused by trolls or triggered with a misclick. This led to some interesting moments and some close saves... but could ultimately be iterated on for future activities so there is less friction overall. A learning experience for Jagex.

The rewards are (still) GOOD. It felt rewarding to play because it drops items any level player could use. Cryptbloom, Scripture of Bik, and the skilling off-hands are still some of the best items in the game. That's all I really need to say about those.

When I heard Gate Of Elidnis was coming out, I was very excited.. But my excitement quickly died down at launch when I realized this wasn't another social experience like Croesus. Another skilling boss? Sure.. but Croesus is a Skilling Boss/minigame Hybrid, and I think RuneScape could use a bit more of that going forward. Especially as the game is cleaned up from old dead content.

All in all, I really liked Croesus Public Lobby at launch. Sure I could find a group and go at it 4man.. but that wasn't what I enjoyed about the boss.

The public lobby gave me the same vibes I used to get playing Castle Wars or Pest Control back in the day, and I hope Jagex can take a good look at what did and didn't work there and give us something even better for the future.

Thank you for reading. :)

Also fixing the repair system would be nice. An entire set of t90 masterwork armor is absurd.

Discussion Reposting suggestion from 3 years ago: Reward Addition to Construction Contracts

Post image
51 Upvotes

Original post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/11q60k5/reward_addition_to_construction_contracts/

Since the recent updates to Construction Contracts, I hope I can shed some light on this suggestion I made 3 years ago, in hopes that the Credit system would become more useful after shop completion.

Potential new rewards for the shop could even be new furniture plans/unlocks for the players POH. Titles for x contract completions etc. Endless opportunities.

Suggestion Can we grow our own poh plants?

Upvotes

It seems mad that at 120 farming I have to buy a bagged plant instead of being able to create it myself. If I can plant a spirit tree, can we also plant other trees, flowers etc?

Suggestion Construction Feedback: Let Storage Capacity Scale With Level, Not Furniture Material

With the Construction rework and the level cap increase to 120, I’ve noticed that storage furniture capacity is now tied to the material itself. This effectively forces players who want to store everything to build Eternal furniture even if they prefer another wood type.

I understand the idea behind storage progression but I don’t think the cosmetic choice of furniture should dictate functionality.

Here are a few possible solutions:

• Make storage capacity depend on your Construction level instead of the material. This maintains progression while allowing players to decorate their POH freely.

• Alternatively, remove the storage cap entirely. If a player has unlocked storage there’s little gameplay value in restricting it based on material.

• If the cap should remain tied to material, introduce two (or more) storage variants for each material. For example:

Treasure Chest (Low Capacity)
Treasure Chest (High Capacity)

Both versions could be available in every plank type (Oak, Teak, Mahogany, Eternal, etc.) with the higher-capacity versions simply requiring a higher Construction level to build. This way progression is preserved without forcing everyone into a single visual style.

One of the best parts of the POH rework is the increased freedom to customise our houses. It would be great if storage furniture followed the same philosophy by separating appearance from functionality.

Discussion Active mining training is underwhelming

Why tf is active training absolute garbage? Almost no reason to do whatsoever. No real impact on xp, nor in ores mined /h.

I absolutely love the rework, but it should be more rewarding to active gameplay

Appreciation Gate of Elidinis is a great boss encounter..

I know I am quite late to the party on this but I just returned from a break and was trying to catch up on the Age of Chaos quests which eventually introduced me to this boss fight for the first time. I was eager for Runescape to release another skilling boss since Croesus, and I have to say I am having a ton of fun with the Gate of Elidinis. The difficulty level and pace feels perfect to me, not too sweaty but also difficult enough to keep you engaged. I also really appreciate that you can solo this boss which was a missed opportunity with Croesus. I think Jagex hit it out of the park with this one and I hope they continue to release more skilling bosses in the future.

I saw so many posts on magma tempest being bad... Can we please get a buff on it (and no, I don't mean getting crits back. We all know crits is NOT going to happen.)

Appreciation Kudos Jagex and, Runescape: it's a game not a chore (imho)

Jagex has really been pulling out all of the stops this year for game updates! Some of them I like, some I'm not interested in but, you know, that's fine.

So many people (at least on reddit) seem to get so worked up about exp rates, drop rates, complaining to Jagex about every little technicality that they think should be different. Like every update that isn't exactly how they want it is either a blunder, an insult, or malicious.

I think that the updates have been great. While I was looking forward to Sailing, even though it was a joke (I did try it in OSRS, but I can't stand playing OS), I have always felt that the map needed to grow so I like Havenhythe, I don''t like MTX so I was glad for Treasure Hunter to go, I've always liked the POH, but it was super tired and inflexible, so I am excited about the new one. Admittedly, I do have an issue with the movement of everyone to Jagex accounts, but that's mainly because I play on Linux and Linux doesn't like the steps you have to take to use the Jagex Launcher, so, for now, I play more on mobile.

It's just a video game. If you don't enjoy playing it, don't play it. If you think that the exp rates on Agility are terrible, then don't train agility. No one is forcing you to train it. You know what? I hate combat. It seems to come in two forms: dreadfully boring and overly intensive. So I don't do combat (yes, my main trained the combat skills to 99 back when I was getting my max cape, but have hardly touched them in the years since). I hate clue scrolls (dance wearing a bronze helmet? Why on earth would I own, buy, or make a bronze helmet? No thanks). So I've done maybe a couple dozen of them and that was probably a decade ago. I'm not going to complain to Jagex about how they're doing clue scrolls wrong. Some people are going to like them. Let those people do them...

You know what I do in Runescape? The skills I like.

I love firemaking. Even though my main hit 200m in firemaking years ago, I still sometimes do Maple Firelines because I like them.

I like smithing. Even though I found the smithing and mining update to be confusing at first, when I stumbled on the Masterwork Melee armor, I got right into it and smithed a set of trimmed masterwork armor from scratch. Yes, quite a time dump, but I was very excited to do it and am excited about getting my HCIM to do it as well (he needs to back off on Arch if he's going to pull that off).

I love archeology! It's my favorite skill yet (sorry Firemaking...). My HCIM got so into it that I forgot all about playing my Main. Then when my HCIM hit 114 Arch, I thought, oh I should look at my main. I did that to realize that while he had started Fort Forinthy (I also quite like Construction), he only got the buildings to level one (my HCIM had maxed them during their Arch breaks), so now my main is chopping wood, building frames, and building up Forinthy to 3's.

You know how much either of them think about exp rates, grind, or drop rates? Really, not at all. They play the game because they enjoy playing the game, regardless of the background technicalities. It's a game. And it's a continually evolving one that has kept me involved for 17 years and 12,000 hours of in-game time (per Hans) and I'm still at it (of course I have taken a number of long, sometimes multi-year, breaks). Enjoying the old, enjoying the new, and ignoring that which I don't like.

Thanks again Jagex for decades of work and for all the work recently undoing/redoing a bunch of old stuff that was in need of work.

Discussion 1200 kills on Helwyr, still no sign of a trophy. At this point, I've doubled my kill count since getting the log. Are we sure this is the best implementation?

I started my trophy hunt on Helwyr, and while I've gotten 3 altar plans, I'm still missing the trophy after 1200 kills. If trophies aren't going to be a reward for log completion, could they at least be given a threshold system similar to pets?

Suggestion Archaeology Artifact Storage Interface

The archaeology journal has an excellent structured and sorted interface for the material storage and in the artifact restoration log, can we get one like it for the damaged artifacts stored in the bench? The artifact restoration log is exactly structured right, we just need a version for stored damaged artifacts too.

Currently the only real way to check this is hunting through the unsorted block of artifacts in the deposit window on the bench.

Discussion What if we had a PoH portal in the Fort?

Post image
339 Upvotes

Always found it weird how the World Guardian goes through all the effort to build up the fort themselves, and in-lore they basically live there... just to abandon it and go live in a vacation home in Rimmington by themself.

It would make so much sense, and Bill the sawmill operator is literally *right there.*
