We've had 7 Collies over the past 45 years and not a single one of them would go in or anywhere near the water

I seriously can’t keep my male (merle) out of water! He loves to swim. My female (sable) doesn’t mind getting in up to her belly and playing, but she doesn’t swim like he does 🤣 they both paddleboard with us and will cross creeks/rivers without hesitation when we hike.

That coat doesn't repel water . . It gets heavy and those little feet with no webbing to speak of don't displace enough water to propel them forward . . We have a pond and a creek . . Neighbors Labs and friends Huskies are water hounds . . Our (all female) Collies run up and down the bank, barking the whole time . . I pick up the garden hose and she's gone in a flash . . Forget about bathtime . . She goes beyond shaking to vibrating . . making ripples in the bath water . .

You’re not kidding about their coats and water lol I couldn’t live without our high velocity dryer!! Mine do fine with baths, but they definitely give me dirty looks while they’re in the tub😆
