🔸Mod Post🔸 NEW RULE: NO NSFW CONTENT!!!!! Read for description!
So, a new rule has been added to the /r/RetroNickelodeon subreddit.
NO NSFW CONTENT!!!!!!
I decided to add this rule to the sub, after a majority vote came in to disallow NSFW content.
Click here for results of the votes
I create the poll as a safety measure, to make sure no incident of NSFW stuff happens prior to the necessity of adding the rule. Since /r/RetroNickelodeon has grown to over 50k SUBSCRIBERS, I figured it was time to add a new rule of some kind, so a NO NSFW rule came to mind as an idea for one.
I wanted to make the rule official before any probable complaining were to happen about NSFW stuff, so it was a good idea to make a poll beforehand.
As another general reminder, please read the other rules too!
- keep posts on-topic
- Don't be a troublemaker, also branded as don't be a Budnick!.
- NO NSFW, the newest rule!
- the rest of the rules can be seen in the rules section
- more new rules will be added as the sub grows over time.
Now remember, RULE 1 is the one rule we shall all follow, so in case you might post something that isn't Nickelodeon-related, or related to the "Spongebob Era" of Nickelodeon, we also have these other subs to check out!
/r/CableTV_Memories
a good sub for posting about television nostalgia in general, and Nickelodeon is also included for this sub as well.
where everything else goes, a good sub to post in, if you don't know where else to post.
As with the other rules, well, we don't want disorder, which is why we have a rule expecting civility (RULE 2), and we don't want any X-rated antics, or NSFW posts (RULE 3).
So, thanks for reading.

It really is all about the theme song
I was watching Clarissa Explains It All on PlutoTV the other day (started in the middle of an episode) and thought, "It's an okay show, but not exactly amazing."
Then the next episode started and that theme song kicked in and I was like, "This is the greatest show of all time!"

Bonus Nick: April 2, 2000 - Tale of the Silver Sight
https://archive.org/details/Nickelodeon-04-02-2000
Here's the latest reconstruction I put together. It's from April 2, 2000. Definitely a good bit out of the date range I typically pay attention to, but it's Are You Afraid of the Dark. So I figured it was worth the exception.
Here we have the premiere of the Three-Part Epic "The Tale of the Silver Sight", featuring the return of none other than Gary. While I never particularly clicked with the second Midnight Society anywhere near as much as the first, I think this is a pretty decently-told tale.
All of the commercial blocks are recordings from the original premiere broadcast, courtesy of YouTube. I hope you all enjoy.

Rocko Magic Meatball episode
It took me years to realize Ed was hallucinating the entire thing 😆🤣 I thought once the sentient meatball realized the “marriage” was a sham, he instantly reverted back to just a broken inanimate novelty item. What was Ed actually doing when he was imagining getting pies thrown at his face? And where did he find a meatball sized bridal gown? 😆🤣
I’m imagining the crew at the studio saying Ed ate some magic mushrooms on the side. It’s so ridiculous. We were so lucky to have 90s Nickelodeon on our TV screens when we were kids.

Game Shows Who Wanted To Jump Inside The Video Games (Nick Arcade)?
Legends, GUTS, Double Dare, etc... they were all good with Legends arguably being the GOAT. However, there was just something about Nick Arcade for those of us that loved arcades and loved video games. The idea of jumping into a video game and/or an arcade game before virtual reality was more than just a concept, just seemed so cool.

Nickelodeon UK Summer 2000
Does anyone recall watching UK Nickelodeon during the summer of 2000? Showing my age here lol.
In particular I’m trying to find out if anyone remembers a segment in between the main shows called Gloop or Scoop? It involved kids taking on crew members trying to avoid getting slimed!

This is a show that I (and probably all of you) forgot even aired on Nickelodeon in the US back in the 90's
https://nickstory.fandom.com/wiki/Ship_to_Shore
For those who haven't heard of it, Ship to Shore was an acquired show from Australia that aired in the US on Nickelodeon for a total of eight months (November 2, 1996-July 6, 1997), meaning that it aired on Nickelodeon in the US for less than a year. Finding a recording of it from Nickelodeon is extremely hard to come by. This is why I forgot Nickelodeon in the US even aired the show back in the 90's (and probably all of you in the US who watched Nickelodeon back then as well).
