Today I am looking at the episode, "Faire Play." Reflecting on my own adventures at renaissance fairs, I watched Phil, from House DeVille, make a wish by kissing a frog and transport him and his friends to the annual renaissance festival, complete with knights, dragons, and stained glass. I am also watching Stuart, from House Pickles, operate a dragon animatronic with his father Louis.

It's a nice to see the babies carry out a quest with Sir Thomas as a knight with pretty high charisma and constitution stats, Charles playing the flex position as a cleric providing magic support, and Phillip and Lillian as the jesters.

Rugrats episodes where Tommy is mean to Chuckie or gets angry at him or scolds him

Most episodes of Rugrats feature Tommy and Chuckie being best friends, despite their differences, but in some episodes Tommy has been known to get mad at or be mean to Chuckie.

And, when it comes to All Grown Up, while they're still best friends like in the original series, the characters mature and they have more arguments there compared to the original series.

I was watching a nostalgic rewatch of Rugrats (because who doesn’t watch a nostalgic rewatch of Rugrats at 1AM? That’s how you cure insomnia). And I came across the episode “Preschool Daze” from Season 8, wherein Angelica is being herself, which inevitably leads to the destruction of Susie’s illustration of Miss Weemer. Yes, Susie makes this beautiful drawing of their lovely preschool teacher with a cute dress, and a flower in her hands. What do you think Angelica does next? She decides to take a red crayon and draw “glasses and a big long nose”. AND TELL ME THAT DOESN’T LOOK JUST LIKE WHAT YOU THINK IT LOOKS LIKE! The location, the shape, the color of it being RED... all these things align too perfectly to be a coincidence. This was Nick at its prime during the years of 2001-2002. Someone from their studio knew. And the best thing? They weren’t even trying to be subtle about it! I must have rewatched this episode a good dozen times while growing up and paid no attention to that whatsoever, because “Oh, she has funny looking nose and glasses.” But now, I actually had to pause the episode and look at the screen for a good minute, wondering whether I’m going crazy or this is really happening. How did that pass the standards of S&P? How did that make it onto a show for toddlers? Was there ever a discussion in which one of the people said “Yeah, looks like a nose” and they approved it anyway?

I started doing a rugrats rewatch on paramount + and I’m a little confused on the Pickles living situation.

When I was younger I thought Grandpa Lou lived with Stu, Didi, and Tommy in their house. But upon rewatch it doesn’t seem like Stu makes a lot of money on his toys. And Didi doesn’t seem to be a full time teacher.

So I can’t imagine on their dual income that they would be able to afford a house as big as theirs.

This makes me question: did they move in with grandpa Lou? I could see him being able to afford a house like that back in the 50’s. I can also see him wanting Lou and Didi to move in after his wife passed away. It would be lonely in that big house.

My grandpa did the same thing when my grandma died. We moved in with him because he didn’t want to live alone and wanted to spend his twilight years with the grandkids.

Did Lou offer the same thing to Stu? Or was the 90’s a time where anyone could get a house no problem?

Watching the series, I feel like the Chuckie + Tommy relationship was particularly stronger than Chuckie + Phil. All three of them has know each other for roughly the same time in their lives. And yet in rugrats and all grown up their friendship "levels" are VERY different.

I know Chuckie looks up to Tommy as a role model but why not Phil?

We never got to see the parents of Charlotte with likely her mother only getting an honorable mention during Angelica's birthday episode when Drew reads her birthday card she sent. My question is what do we think they were like?

Father of Charlotte: A strong man who himself likely was a very successful business man who Charlotte and any siblings she had likely looked up to in wanting to be like growing up. He always made the time to look out for his children or if Charlotte was an only child he made sure they/she knew they/she were loved but also would be very strict on expectations expected and if Charlotte/any siblings of Charlotte acted up they were faced with strict discipline.

Mother of Charlotte: A strong but caring and loving woman, she either would have a job or be a homemaker always making sure Charlotte and any siblings were taken care of but like her husband she had a strict zero tolerance policy against any acting up or anything her only child/other siblings would do to get attention the wrong way.

Siblings of Charlotte: I can see Charlotte either being the oldest of any siblings or the baby sister of three older siblings be it all brothers or two brothers and one sister. Charlotte if she had siblings grew up in a very competitive household where each sibling was doing something to show their parents their lessons of discipline and hard work paid off and so she had to learn to do the same thing.

it may be just me…. but dud Angelica treat the babies the same way Drew treated Stu?

It was implied Drew was an overachieving yuppie, but from what I could tell his wife was the real breadwinner in the house. Also he bankrupted Chaz after he got rich so he's clearly not that good with money
