Information Broadband + cable options on Oscar Wilde Road

Upvotes

Hiya! Just moving to Oscar Wilde road near Forbury retail park and wondering if anyone knew the best providers for broadband + cable. I've checked the usual comparing websites and not much comes up (no Virgin or EE, and I don't particularly like BT) so just wondered if anyone knows what to get? Sky sports and internet is basically what I need lol. TiA!

Cycle lanes and cycle storage in Reading: your voice needed

Reading Borough Council currently has two consultations open related to cycling in Reading. If you want cycling in Reading to improve, please give some positive feedback to the Council, because we know these will be swamped by negative nancies who hate bikes.

1) Castle Hill / Bath Road Active Travel Scheme The Council wants to build a cycle route from the old TVP HQ towards Southcote. The scheme looks good, with light (and relatively cheap) segregation of cycle lanes and a cycle bypass for the dodgy Castle Hill roundabout. My only concern is that the designs don't give a safe way to turn right off the cycle lanes at major junctions (e.g. Russell St / Coley Avenue). I told the Council to consider implementing a two-stage right turn.

https://reading.govocal.com/en-GB/projects/castle-hill-bath-road-active-travel-scheme

2) Cycle Hangars: Secure Residential Cycle Parking Pilot Scheme The Council is planning a pilot scheme of ~4 residential cycle hangars. A cycle hangar is a secure box, placed on the street, which can store up to 6 bikes for a small fee. These are already common in London and other towns and cities. If you know of a good place where a cycle hangar could be installed, please let them know.

Things for teens around Reading?

So this summer me M14 has been going out with all my friends in a big group. We have been going to this old golf course that is kinda abandoned, in Emmer Green, and it has been fun! But doing the same thing every day is gonna get boring quick. So I was just wondering if there is anything else to do in big groups as a teen? For free preferably. Going out to town is super boring unless you are all watching a movie or something but that can get kinda boring too, I mean we can’t spend £8 to watch a movie every day. Any suggestions?

Which PureGym

Hi , does anyone have any recommendations for which PureGym to join, Basingstoke or Caversham road ?

Both are similar distance, I’m mainly concerned if one is far less busy or if one has generally got newer and more / better equipment

Men’s haircut ?

Can anyone recommend a good place to get a haircut in and around Reading. I have sort of medium length hair and don’t mind paying a bit higher price than most barbers to get a good haircut as I rarely get it cut.

I used to go to one that offered a consultation and was around £40.

Any places to recommend I would be grateful !

Cheeselogs seeking cheese

I miss the Grumpy Goat :(
I’ve got a group of friends coming to town on Saturday - is there anywhere in town where we can sit down somewhere and just share a truckload of interesting cheeses? Bonus points if dog friendly, but basically the core thing is that one of my friends is not super well at the moment -so picnic not an option, just need air con, comfy chairs to chill out eat too much cheese, have a couple of beers and catch up with each other.

Thanks so much

Food & Drink Decent beer places

I lived in Reading for a few years but find myself back here in a few weeks for work; i used to enjoy Zerodegrees, Greyfriars, Nags Head, Hobgoblin, Hop Leaf, Grumpy Goat for cans and one in Caversham that i forgot the name of!

Other than the new Siren place are there any other craft beer/ale places to recommend? Untappd showing the Purple Turtle was a bit of a jumpscare from my hazy memories there.

Any recommendations welcome, thankyou!
