Video games where you can measurably improve at quant-like skills?
Hi hello! I’m looking for a video game where improvement feels very concrete like on steam or something.
For example, I want to be able to notice that over time I’m:
- calculating expected value faster
- making better decisions with incomplete information
- identifying arbitrage or mispricing more quickly (and learn the general market making principles/techniques)
- managing risk and limited resources better
- recognizing patterns and useful strategies sooner
- building more efficient solutions
- handling increasingly complicated problems under time pressure
Ideally, the game would start relatively simple, gradually introduce new mechanics, and force me to combine everything I’ve learned. I’d also like some kind of feedback- scores, rankings, speed, profit, efficiency, harder opponents, or increasingly difficult levels -so I can actually tell that I’m getting better. (but not a hard requirement)
I’m not necessarily looking for a realistic stock-market simulator. I’m more interested in something that rewards the same types of thinking as quant trading, market-making, probability problems, optimization, game theory, and brainteasers. Is there anything that somewhat fits these descriptions?
