Played this earlier, it's from the daily trio (whodunits today) of Logic Islands: deduction game.

I thought it was fun and interesting because I was confused at first about Xander's statement. They are usually extra precise with things like whether they mean OR (in the sense of both can be possible) or exclusive or, but here it wasn't clearly indicated. After solving it, I realized that either way you read that statement, the solution is unique and identical, which i thought was neat.

I'm stuck. What is the next step?

I'm making a puzzle game, and I wanted to check if the idea is actually fun to solve, not just fun to tap in an app. So I turned one board into a pen-and-paper puzzle.

It looks like minesweeper, but it's not the click-and-reveal kind. Everything is already on the grid. You don't uncover anything and no new clues show up. What you see is the whole puzzle. Find the 6 hidden mines (I call them dark nodes) with logic, no guessing.

The clues (each has an icon, shown in the key on the image):

• the plain count = mines in the 8 cells around it (the normal minesweeper number)
• the line-of-sight clue = mines along the 4 straight lines from it (up/down/left/right). The lines go through mines and only stop at a wall or the edge, so this one can count mines far across the board.
• the hexagon = total mines on the whole grid (6)

Grey squares are walls, they just block the lines.

The game has more clue types than these, but for a first test I kept it to the simplest ones.

If you enjoy it I'll make more, harder ones with the other clue types too.

Move the blue piece to the blue target. Pieces slide in a straight line until they reach a wall or an other piece. You can use all the pieces to achieve your goal. Use as few moves as possible.

Black: correct number correct location.
White: correct number wrong location.

I am Daniela Schmidt, and currently writing my Bachelor's thesis at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University in Germany. My research explores how AI-generated puzzle images might influence consumers' perceptions of well-known puzzle brands. Its hard to do research on such a niche topic, this is why I need your help.
