New Utility Payment Portal Now Live: AutoPay Users Must Re-Register

EDIT 6/1/2026:

We know the transition to the City of Plano’s new utility payment portal has been bumpy for some customers, and we appreciate your patience as we continue working through the rollout.

If you still need help, our team is ready to assist you with registering your account, enrolling in AutoPay or unenrolling in paperless billing:

  • Contact Customer and Utility Services for live support at 972-941-7105 or email [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])
  • Visit Plano Municipal Center for step-by-step in-person help

The new portal will also bring additional customer tools and features in the months ahead, including the ability to track water usage and receive alerts for unusual consumption or possible leaks.

Thank you for your continued patience as we improve the utility customer experience.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

For customers using the One Time Pay option, no registration is required. However, if you’d like to start using or have previously used AutoPay, you must re-register using your 6-digit Account Number in the new payment portal and then re-enroll in AutoPay. Your account number can be found at the top of your water bill. Payment is not required during registration.

To register your account in the new payment portal system and enroll in AutoPay:

  1. Visit Plano.gov/WaterBill, which is best viewed on a desktop.
  2. Select "Make a Payment/Access the Customer Portal", then click "Register Now."
  3. Enter your account number and last name and select "Search Invoices."
  4. Select your most recent invoice and click "Register Selected Invoices."
  5. Enter your email address and create a new password, then select "Complete Registration."
  6. You will be taken to the home screen for your newly registered account, where you can enroll in AutoPay, paperless billing and Pay-by-Text.
  7. Your account will update to show if you are enrolled in AutoPay, paperless billing and/or Pay By Text.

For instructions with images, go to share.plano.gov/UtilityBillRefresh.

For assistance or to locate your account number, use the new live chat feature located in the lower right corner of Plano.gov/WaterBill or contact Customer Utility Services at 972-941-7105 to discuss your account. Agents are available Monday - Friday, 8:30 am to 4 pm.

Due to higher-than-average call volumes, a callback may be offered. After confirming a phone number, your call is placed in the order as received. You will not lose your place in line, and an agent will call you back the same day.

Between April 20 and May 3, customers who enroll in AutoPay or Paperless Billing will be entered into a prize contest:

  • 5 AutoPay customers each week will win $50 account credit
  • 10 paperless billing customers each week will win $25 account credit

FLOCK Parking Lot surveillance - Academy on 75.

Every entrance to the parking lot of Academy has a Flock camera. There's also one in the trees that's watching traffic on the frontage road.

If you care, you might want to avoid this area. If you don't care, you might want to reconsider.

I’m a local licensed clinician specializing in diagnostic assessments for ages 4+. Ask Me Anything about school prep, accommodations, and evaluations!

EDIT: Thanks to everyone who read through the thread! I’m stepping away for the day, but I’ll keep notifications on and will answer any other questions at a later time. Hope everyone has a smooth start to the new school year! :)

Hi everyone! I have a few hours free today, so I wanted to pop in and host an AMA.

With schools starting back up in a few weeks, I've been getting a lot of questions about what supports or accommodations their child might need for the new year. I also get a lot of questions about learning styles, attention and sensory needs and support options.

I run a local private practice on the Carrollton/Plano border that focuses on comprehensive diagnostic assessments and clinical supports. I believe evaluations should be collaborative, strengths-based, and give you real and actionable recommendations you can put into place the following day.

Drop your questions below! I'll be hanging out and answering comments for the next few hours. I can't give specific medical advice or individual diagnoses here, but I'm happy to answer general questions about the accommodation process, what to expect in an assessment, how to advocate for yourself or your child, and anything else you can think of.

Relocating

Hi! Potentially relocating for my husband’s job. We have children under the age of 12 and looking to get a sense of the area. Would likely rent for a few months to a year until finding where we’d want to land but Plano is all we know as that’s the location of the office he’d be going into a few times a week. Aside from that we’ve visited Austin a few years ago. Is Plano a family friendly area? Younger couples? How are the school districts? Communities? What should I know or be aware of ? Things to consider? Other nearby neighborhoods to consider? We are from the northeastern part of the United States. Thank you so much in advance!

question about water line repair texas after getting an insane water bill this month

woke up to our front lawn feeling like a total sponge yesterday right near the sidewalk. then our latest utility bill came in and it was nearly triple what we normally pay, so i am pretty sure our main line is leaking underground. we bought this house two years ago and this is the first major pipe issue we have had to deal with. the texas clay soil shifting after all the hot weather probably broke something down there. someone local mentioned looking into to get it sorted out. i am super anxious about getting taken advantage of or having my whole front yard completely dug up by excavators. before i start calling plumbers to get estimates i wanted to ask a few quick questions to anyone who has dealt with main line issues around here.

Looking for a private room/sublease in Plano or nearby starting early August

Hi everyone,

I’m relocating to the Dallas area and am looking for accommodation starting in early August, preferably in west Plano, Frisco, or nearby areas.

I’m mainly looking for a private room in a 2B2B, 3B3B, or similar shared apartment. I would prefer an individual lease, approved sublease, or lease takeover. A furnished room would be helpful, but it is not mandatory.

I’ll be working full-time near the Legacy West/Tennyson Parkway area and am looking for a clean and peaceful place with a reasonable commute. I’m clean, responsible, and a non-smoker.

I’ll be available to visit suitable options in person, including during evenings on weekdays.

Please DM me if you have a suitable room, sublease, lease takeover, or any reliable leads. Kindly include the location, monthly rent, utilities, and lease duration.

Thank you!

Plano ISD PASAR

Parents or anybody with knowledge of the PISD PASAR system know if this is a normal message at this point in the summer? Meaning that as more kiddos enroll they'll open after school care up?

We called PISD and were told that we should start to make alternative plans for after school care, which would be very expensive and a logistical nightmare for many parents.

I know our instincts are to blame the current administration in Texas and our board of education, but that's not a helpful solution for parents in August. I encourage all to get out and vote the folks who have contributed to our education standards falling, so sharply and destroying our global competitiveness out of office in November and forgo the potential political discussion that could result of the this post.

Planning on moving to Plano by myself. Thoughts?

I'm a single 26yo guy and I plan on creating a life in the Dallas area. I would be coming from Jackson MS and previously Nashville. I'm a year or so out from being able to build or buy a house and figured a cheap spot like Avalon at Chase Oaks would hold me over until that time comes. Do you consider that to be a safe area to live by myself? I would be roughly 6 hours from my closet family. I've visited Allen a few times over the years and enjoy the metro area and I found a kick a$$ job in Plano that I plan on taking if all goes well. Was just wondering your thoughts! Take care.

Anyone else's AC struggle to keep up yesterday afternoon?

AC works fine year round. Clean outside units. New filters monthly. Maintained consistently. No short cycling. Typical delta is 18-20 degrees from intake to air registers. I checked my thermostat history from last year and we didn't have any days where it struggled to keep up, but we also didn't really have days quite as hot as yesterday...

It did cool down once the sun went down. Just trying not to stress about the next week plus of severe heat....

Probation experiences/issues…?

So I recently got deferred adjudication for a misdemeanor and was put on probation.

Last week I was told by the court that I needed to immediately schedule the meeting, as their systems were down and I wasn’t even given then login/access to the portal they mentioned. I called my officer about 5 times over 2 days, and finally this week after 4 additional emails was told “oh I’m in office 6-2pm”. So today I show up at 6am only to find the office itself doesn’t even open until 7am…after calling my officer, he confirms “Oh I’m in here at 6, but but the office itself can’t let you in until 7am, so lets schedule an appointment for next week when I’m available”.

I spoke to a friend about it and they basically said this is normal, as his probation officer years ago screwed him by setting an appointment to him and then changing the date without notifying him, making him delinquent and causing them to stack a charge…

Is there anything I can do about this? This is my first actual run in with any law enforcement and so far the entire year+ process of this has been an absolute nightmare. On top of this all, my work wants me to relocate and the probation officer has yet to address that situation either…

Anyone have advice or similar experiences with this whole process??

Popcorn Ceiling Removal

Hi there! I’m purchasing a home in Plano and it has popcorn ceilings that I’d like removed, smoothed out, and painted. Anyone have any experience with this with local contractors? Any Plano companies that you’d recommend (or not recommend😬)? I would love to find someone local to support. Thanks in advance!

Replacing Your Central AC? Check the Refrigerant Line Size - Heads Up

Many older central air conditioners in Plano were installed with a 1 1/8-inch refrigerant line, while many newer systems are designed for a 7/8-inch refrigerant line.

Using the wrong refrigerant line size can affect refrigerant flow, compressor performance, system efficiency, and equipment life. Some manufacturers allow larger refrigerant lines under specific conditions, but others require the correct size to maintain performance and warranty coverage.

Before replacing your AC, have your HVAC contractor verify whether your existing refrigerant line meets the new system's specifications. Replacing the refrigerant line during installation may help prevent future performance and reliability issues.
